When I started training we had two platoons of 35. After the first 10 weeks of basic we were down to about 45 to begin CIC at Ouston. 13 of us from the original two platoons eventually passed out.
Been there done that but I was in helles where it's only parad n ghurkas then I went no1parachute training school brize Norton then to the battalion we had to wait for the plt below us to catch up so we could finish our final exercise and it was the same with them too so we had to wait until another plt caught up so we could finish our final exercise but I guess infantry training school Para I felt. Great with my maroon beret maroon stable belt and most of all . my wings I went 2Para 7plt
I remember being on the very last platoon trained the OLD way at Glencourse! They told us the next platoon arriving the next month would be trained with kid gloves. We used to watch them being punished be having to sing or dance for the rest of their platoon. And the DS were not even able to swear at them. While we were punched and kicked all over the camp. Or beasted up and down ammo hill for a hour or two. Life could have been so much better if I had joined just 4 weeks later!

@@bwkid1 I trained in Catterick in 2011. I was swore at constantly and headbutted once. And beasted up and down the land of nod over and over again. I think it depends on what training team you have. But I agree about the last few years. It has got so soft. That's all the wore bullshit tho.
This is just BASIC TRAINING. If the support arms weren't doing this, they're just civvies in DPM... 4:02 - That's the only action that that bloke's getting whilst at the camp! I bet that regimental dolly's been about... 8:20 - Muppet dragging his weapon through the water. He needs a proper kicking for that. I mean that. 8:39 - That music, man. Maurice Jarre must have been quaking in his boots... 10:48 - Why are the knobs breaking cover in "blob order"?! 11:30 - They march to the hymn, "Praise Be The Glory"?! (And they aren't even wearing the Royal Anglicans cap badge?!) Sad.
Couple of points; The guy dragging his weapon through the water has no choice. They have to keep hold of the weapon, and the pipe is half filled with water. The weapon can function when wet (well it's an A1 so it barely functions when exposed to air, but you get my point). The 'breaking cover in blob order' - they have been told to. They're recruits. Probably at the start of a gentle 8 mile stroll. Pass out parades will have quick marches from several infantry regiments as there are a few on parade. I didn't see every soldier on parade, did you? Plus who are the Royal Anglicans? Any relation to the Royal Anglian Regiment? Slagging off recruits is a bit sad. I bet you like shouting at learner drivers too.
@@csl2583 one of the reasons why they adopted the 5.56 i think.you can carry alot more ammo for the same weight.never carried an SLR,but the SA 80 was heavy enough on a tab for little me
Yeah, maybe not...The old SLR was a great rifle but heavy, especially with a combat load. The 5.56 is a spectacular round when used in the right weapon. The Canadian C7, for example. When the 5.56 was introduced in the field, and after many issues with the m16 resolved, US Infantrymen were surveyed as to choice of weapon. The overwhelming majority preferred the M16 over the M14, and a small percentage preferred the CAR over the M16. It all boiled down to weight and firepower. Not many infantrymen engage or are willing to attempt to engage a target beyond 600yds.

It doesnt look that hard, until you actually try it. I was in the TA Engr's and it was such a shock, the discipline etc, but I did stay for 7 years.

All they need to do is get rid of that stupid peashooter and use 7.62 rounds again, then one can hit his target at a longer range.
