Y'all can call me crazy but this man got me off of drugs and in to fishing. We just moved in to a new house 2 miles from the Decatur Bridge. And cuz of this man I spend my money on bait and tackle in stead of dope. Thanks man I love this stuff!!!!

Im from western ky, and i fish ky and barkley lakes for bass most of the time, im 31 years old and been fishing all my life but ive never really used anything but artificial baits. your videos are teaching me a lot about different ways to catch em. thanks for making these videos, i love watching people that truly love fishing!

I absolutely love those old Mitchell's. Back in 76, I worked at a Garcia dealer, repairing, Abu Garcia and Mitchell reels. A local celeb and his Son used to come in and the owner supplied them. You may have heard of Harold and Dusty Ensley. Yep, no joking. Richard, you provide quality viewing, thanks.

I clicked on this because the cover photo showed that old Mitchell reel. I have an old Mitchell 408 from when I was a kid that I still use, but I've retired my old Mitchell 300 from those days. Anyway, there are some memories there!

Mr. Richard Gene you put out another great video. I am a 98% artificial bait fisherman but like the old saying goes, fish eat fish and there is nothing wrong with using live bait. Those SHAD and Golden minners you caught in the cast net sure looked good. i'm surprised a big blue or flat head didnt take a crack at one of em. You are doin good, keep it up. Lou from Houston.

In the early and later fall big fish eat smaller baits at times. I've caught some descent smallies on white grub worms on a crappie jig. Or a size 1 baitholder hook on a leader 7 inches tied to the main line. I put a split shot 5 inches above where the main line tied to the leader. I put a 3 inch hellgramite and trophy bass by procure on the hellgramite or grub worm on crappie jig. I've got 3 plus lb smallies out of the river. Also, some nice large mouths out of a local pond. The smallies I caught were out of the river.

Saturday night I went for river cats with a teeny tiny ultra light outfit, with new 6 lb line. Wow, what a challange ! I'm probably lucky I didn't get any monsters, but this 10 pounder took forever to get in the net. I had alot of fun, fighting fish that were beyond the line capacity. I do this a couple times a year, it keeps your drag using & fighting skills sharp, for when you hook big flat head cats on big equipment.

Richard you was talking about those shad being so big, that's what I want. I buy medium minnows for crappie fishing when I'm using bobber. I think it helps cut out catching the smaller fish. If I'm crappie fishing I'm catching em to eat. Lol. I am a big fish eater. Talking about whoooo

I’m thinking about bringing my boat up from Baton Rouge this next weekend. I’ll put in before sun up and get my shinners with lights. I only fish for crappie. I rarely keep more then 5-6.
When I got back into fishing I found a reel in my sister's dad's garage it was her grandpa's old reel was a gacia Mitchell 308 like the one you have it was prob the best reel I ever used
