This video is fantastic. Put a new touch screen double din in our 99 LX and followed this video step by step. Wiring worked perfectly! Nicely done. Thanks!
Hello, I'm trying to upgrade my stereo but I can figure out how to connect the - from the speakers output since there is a single ground for the speakers. Addtionally I'm getting a background noise from the amplifier which I'm not able to get rid My LC100 came with the R36 connector Any help will be really aprecciated Thanks
I have a 99 lx and I successfully installed an aftermarket unit. It is hissing and whining though. I know this is a common problem but do you have any fixes? Besides removing the factory amp that is.
Does the subwoofer work well? Did your head unit fit well in the trim? I've been seeing forums saying that you'll need to mess with the amp because there's a special nakamichi signal interface between the amp and head unit. But it seems all you did is supply power to it. And if I'm correct, I'd hook the amp trigger wire on the head unit to the amp wire. How's the working out. And how does the unit look like in the trim?
Honestly it sounds better than oem. I cant say its really bass heavy but I don't have any issues. Everyone says my sound system sounds great. The trim fits okay. Its kind of loose so it could use something to stick it in place but it doesn't really move anywhere if that makes sense
Hey man. Can any good car stereo place do this? Others have said it is difficult since you have to use factory amp (they say). Is that true? I have same year LX and want to upgrade.
@@Loftydsm I was told that the amp from the head unit needs to be used and the subwoofer to just be disconnected and cancelled. Is that true? Will the stereo sound good without subwoofer? I'll likely replace the front door panel speakers. Thanks.
I have a 1999 LX470 With exact Nakamichi PINTA system. I purchase a $355 Pioneer AVH-601EX. I am 62 yr old Vet and "sounds" is a must for my OEM PINTA except for radio, everything broke down. Being OSchool, I thought just give to installer and how much and done! I did this kinda deal last in 2004 w/ the LX450. So after purchasing the Pioneer, 2 installerS in the nearby city,,,, one installer supposedly expert since 80's said I should have bought also the dash-kit and an interface/adapter? and later on he said must have a 2ch power amp and decide he will NOT work on it for no way without the interface. One tread I saw with a link "How to bypass Nakamichi" is by using and its a must the power amp, or the OEM Subwoofer WILL NOT WORK. The other installer said, oh you must replace speakers due to the ohms etc and wires and wires galore replacement and other tech terminology that he knows I won't understand=$1000+ or more to install it. Then finally went to a place and said no need to replace the speakers unless I want to, and highly recommend 2chpower amp due to sub OEM will likely not work or barely going to work=transistor radio sound will happen. BUT YOUR Video seems like, is it WORKING, the SUBS Without any additional power amp. In my quick opinion, I think the TECHNOLOGY is being used to PUMP UP their "lawyer/doctor hourly rate". I saw one guy in the Lexus Forum, he said it might sound better with the power amp, but NOT so much of a difference. So you see, needless to say I need your expert advise. My wife is 72 yrs old and me 62. We are 60's to 90's type of music that do NOT need ear-drum wrecking BOOM Sound. This last installer quote seems the best, but AFTER I saw your video, I am not so sure. WITHOUT the power amp, It's $350. portion goes to some kinda cable, no back up camera, and only the head unit. with the power amp it jumps over $500 then camera to $600. BS in my thoughts. So Sir, help my thoughts please. I WISH YOU ARE IN THE SAME CITY OR EVEN STATE, AND I might drive to your place and YOU DO IT. For I did not see you install a group of big cables, they say I need and I also saw this www.beatsonicusa.com/forums/index.php?topic=30.0 IT seems to me it's just plug in stuffs. BUT this is the link that says OEMSubs will NOT work without the 2ch power amp. Please tell me what to do for my wife and I are old folks that are on FIXED Social Sec. Income.
Hi there! I am sorry to hear about your problems. I would be happy to do my best to help! Do you have an email I can contact you with? If we are close I'd be happy to give you a hand. If we aren't I would be happy to do my best to see what you have going on. Please let me know.
Sorry just saw your reply. Well I am using our family's email, with my wife. And I thought I could go to your channel and clicked about and your email would be there but it ain't there. I want to give it but no longer TH-cam provide private messages. HOWEVER, 1st I saw the video again and I saw that you are in WISCONSIN & we reside at the boundary of Idaho and Washington. Too far. As for me doing it? Forget it! So no way I can open stuff and clips, I will be lost. I emailed an electrician via Craigslist and I asked him if he can understand your video or IF he can do it and how much. IF you notice 3 installers all contradicting each other. BUT my questions are simple enough (1) Without the 2ch power amp, DID IT WORK FOR YOU? I was being told it will sound CRAPPY and worthless spending all that money, blah blah blah, so is it a scare tactic for me to put out another $200+ (2) DID THE OEM SUB STILL WORK WITHOUT THE POWER AMP? (3) Does it sound OK, BETTER, OR THE HIGHS AND LOWS DROPS? (4) THE EXTRA CABLE THEY ARE SELLING ME, IS THAT NEEDED FOR THE POWER AMP? IF I decided to get the amp. Thanks again. (5) Last Q,,,,YoU DID NOT USE ANY OF THAT INTERFACE PLUG IN, RIGHT? Again thanks for your help.
@@timeisnow316 1st question. No. You have to use the stock amp and sort of "hardwire" it to be on. I talk and show this briefly at 8:15. If you dont touch those two wires, the amp will not be powered and thus no sound. I did not use anything other than what was provided with my stereo. The wiring was a bit confusing though. If your head unit is the same as mine, this will work for you.

@6:14 You passed gas haha. Great video!
Where did you purchase the plastic trim piece?
This helped me a ton. Thanks.
Glad I could help!!
Do you have the link for the mounding
I am trying this upgrade I get no sound in speakers is there anything specific to do to keep factory amp ?
Sorry I made the mistake of red wire mismatch everything working now

It's most likely a bad ground. Make sure it's grounded very well in a good spot.
Looks like you gotta register those plates dawg.
'98 was the first year of the 100 series.
is there wiring diagram
You got a link to that plastic trim piece?

@@Loftydsm so does the factory sub work? Because forums say you can use the factory amp but it cuts the sub.

I've been meaning to put together a wiring diagram. I will try to do that soon.
But yes, you have to power the stock amp and it works great
