I Won a 2020 Telly Award for a Personal Project!!!

A few months ago I entered a personal project into the 41st Annual Telly Awards. I really didn't think I had a chance at winning anything, but I thought it would be a rewarding exercise to enter a piece that wasn't part of work from my day job. Well, now I'm glad I entered because I won a Bronze Telly award...woot!
The project was a trailer for Main Street Theatre Tucker's staging of "Sanders Family Christmas." I filmed it on two Blackmagic Ursa Mini cameras, one Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera and a DJI Mavic Pro for the drone shots. The film was edited and color graded in Final Cut Pro X (FCPX).

Nice work. Congratulations on the accomplishment and thanks for sharing. I was on the fence about entering a small independent documentary-style project I have been working on for what seems like forever. It is a small simple piece but I think it is well done and engaging, however, as the situation with your production it's not a big-budgeted corporate piece and is fairly simple. But it's something I'm proud of nonetheless. So thanks for helping me lean into the idea of submitting my video.

I say do it. There are all kinds of awards programs with entry fees that aren't too bad. If you are proud of it, I think you should do it. I think the key is to find the right category for your entry.
