Chris, just my two cents coming from a veterinarian on the 11 foot new alligator, if he has a respiratory infection as you noticed in your first contact with him when you and Ron trapped him, he had sone nasal discharge. This might be the underlying issue creating the fatigue and failure to thrive. I feel the injectable antibiotics would be the best course of action. Oral antibiotics would definitely be a stresser on the animal to administer and I feel would not have the impact that injectable meds would have. I also agree on not stressing him out at all which is another reason to do IM antibiotics. Your doing some great work and I wish you the best. The prarie dogs are one of my favorites but im warming up to Akila. What a fair tempered croc she is.

Akila is coming right along! She learns so quickly! I'm glad the 11 footer survived the night. I'm really sorry he's so ill. I hope he recovers completely and has a happy long life. Big Mac ate! That must be such a happy moment! You have really raised awareness for these beautiful ancient reptiles. Much like sharks, they get a bad rap. They are just like most animals; trying to survive and deal with humans in their environments. "It's not all fun, just playing with big alligators and stuff...," You know you aren't in Kansas anymore when you hear that statement! 😂😂 Thanks for the update!!

@@GatorChris_ wonder if you are considering paying a visit to see your old client crocs aries and miss toothy? They have become super lively since at chandlers facility. Yet you knew aries as the pleasure to be with most of the time croc, miss toothy on the other hand really is a typical cuban crocodile 🐊 and will tell people to back off from her.

I remember the girls Steve Irwin had were also chill..but not the makes 😂. All were wild though but the girls mostly relied on the males to protect them from Steve ;)

Amazing how much you care about the sick alligator. You guys are such an example for everyone. If people were so compassionate about other people the world would be a different place. Thank you so much for caring for this beautiful animal. He's very lucky to be with you, like we say in Dutch "Hij is met z'n gat in the boter gevallen" (translation of that would be "he fell with his ass in butter" (which obviously doesn't sound good in English 🤣, it means that he's so lucky to be with people who care). Fingers crossed that he makes it in the long term but if he doesn't at least he got the best chance that he could have and it won't be due to lack of trying to save him. Great work, keep it up! 👍

He's had a rough journey, but he made it to you.

I had to help a friend administer antibiotics orally to a 14 foot Burmese python for a couple of weeks. She was a total sweetheart but it was an epic battle every day. Can't imagine trying that with a defensive alligator. We used a tube and syringe- crushed the meds and made a paste. Had to get the tube down her throat to squeeze the paste in. Fun times. You guys are saints.
I'm really rooting for the sick gator. Poor guy must have been through so much and has an opportunity for a better life now, he just has to heal back to normal🥺
That whole Poppy situation is Disney Ready! He's in his fur pants and would rather starve than miss getting his pets... it's just so funny how much he loves Chris!

I'm not sure of Florida laws, but here in Tennessee we can buy injectable Penicillin at our farm stores like Tractor Supply and the Co-Ops with out a prescription. Of course, I really don't know what type of antibiotic you need for gators but for our deer rescues, that is what we use when we can't get them into the vet over the weekends.

It is my belief that there is some fantastic energy surrounding both of you and your sanctuary and animals can feel it. I’m really not crazy, my experiences from working at vet clinics for not only domestic pets also birds , reptiles, exotics, and being a rescuer and foster for cats and kittens , and being an empath and being with people with animals and my own passion I come up with my opinions. Also, with your experience with gators I definitely believe you know exactly what you are doing and it is always in the best interest of the gators.🐊

The dinosaurs 😉 are ALL doing amazing - it’s great the crocodilians are so comfortable & receptive, building a relationship with Zahir & of course watching the emus grow up & them following you or Clover everywhere as you do the “rounds”. We would ALL watch if you did an emu channel - they are precious ❤️

I don't know if this was mentioned already, but ya'll planning on doing tours like what Chris does already at your own facility? I know that would be far off, given all the work that needs doing now, how much more would be needed for that kind of thing, plus finding and training the gator with a personality for it. Or was that something ya'll don't want to have/ya'll have others ideas?
Love the work ya'll have put in so far, it's looking beautiful! I hope all the flowers that were put in take off, but even without it all looks so good so far. It's such a beautiful property!

I’ve had dogs close to the same weight as your pig…our vet spayed them for less than $200. I’m shocked at $1700. Emus are looking so good and I love their zommyness…they are going to be huge! Except for the raw meat, the fox dinner sounds really good to me! Beautiful new enclosure for the Maras (sp?). Worried for the new injured gator since he’s not eating. Can gators take pain meds? It’s funny how fast someone can become attached to an animal she’s never met and only sees on a video. I know he may not make it but I sure am rooting for him. Hope you can get injectable meds.

Really love the updates, I do also like your foxes , they are adorable, and I'm curious what's up with Papi, he just wanna get pet all the time, kinda curious, but I'm really fascinated the most by those gators, watching you interacting with them really made me appreciate way more these animals, I'm just soo fascinated . Hope all goes well with those gators and also the other animals.
Don't think that you have given him a name yet, but I do pray that you can get him to start taking some food. Big GatorBoy indeed. Really hoping that he recovers and surprises us all with a rapid improvement.
He'll need his strength and hopefully some 'imbedded in food' meds (hidden antibiotics).

So awesome to see how the new rescues are progressing! It seems like you have set up a great environment for them. I enjoy hearing about your thoughts/opinions and experience with regard to the situations you are encountering with the rescues. Hopefully the 11 ft one ends up being agreeable to the easier ways of getting the meds rather than the alternative.

I'm sure others have suggested this: set up 24/7 cams on some of the enclosures and put the feed behind a pay wall.

Chris, since the sick alligator was found in a lake around homes, maybe someone poisoned him to get rid of him. I hope that’s not the case, but humans can be cruel, arrogant, and ignorant when it comes to wildlife. I know you’re doing everything possible to save him. Look forward to the next vlog.
