Back in the day (70's & 80's) I considered myself a damn good bass trombonist. However, I pale in comparison to this guy, and others who are able to play this Fly or Die piece. Great job!

@@PeterSteinerOfficial Did some more listening to your youtube channel and went to your website. I see we have at least two things in common: We have both performed Tommy Pederson's Cogent Caprice and we have both played with the symphony in Denver, Colorado (when I played with them in the late 70's, it was the Denver Symphony Orchestra...prior to the name change in 1989). I stopped playing in 2010...just didn't have it in me anymore. However, I gladly surrendered to the likes of you, and those like you, who make the trombone and bass trombone a glorious instrument!

I can't decide who I like better, Lionel or Peter. Lionel hit bass notes better, but Peter had better tone and better dynamics. Both are crazy good though.

After listening to them carefully I think that Peter has something more in the precision and speed of execution. The low notes are better because Lionel uses a low trombone.

I was thinking the same thing, I'm not sure if it's the player or just the acoustics (I'm not qualified to be talking about this.), but I think the piano in this sounds better than the live Lionel Fumeaux Version, It certainly sounded great.
Additionally, with the Trombone, I favor the acoustics, I like Peter's sound, and I personally prefer it over the original as well.
Though Fumeaux has become a role model for me in recent months, and I think both versions have their own benefits to them.
I just prefer the way that this was written. But I think the piano in this gave it a huge bonus from the original, because this piano is a lot smoother and blends much better with the piece.
Over all, I think this was an amazing performance by both of them, one of the best solo performances I've heard In a while.

It’s kinda annoying to listen to this recording from so far away. This song lends itself to the crisp articulated trills, punchy bass and comes out of nowhere, and the light swing. Love the tone, but the reverb from the recording setup was frustrating.
