    - In this video, Dennis Foley discusses the concept of "No Forest, No Trees" in room acoustics. Dennis addresses common misconceptions about room uniqueness and how to effectively resolve acoustic issues. Learn about the three essential functions within a room-noise barrier, climate control, and acoustic treatment-and how mathematical calculations determine pressure locations and reflections. Dennis also outlines different strategies for achieving optimal room resolution for consumers, mix engineers, and mastering professionals. Join us to gain a clearer understanding of room acoustics and practical steps to improve your sound environment.

    Sir, I have learned more about acoustics from your HINTS, than other people explaining it in depth. Thank You.

      Pressure and reflections. Focus your learning efforts on those two variables.

      Really? Do you have any examples? I didn't get anything from this video or others in this series.

      @@bigbrointhesky Nowhere in my comment am i refering to this video.
      One example in the other videos for me was when Dennis explained simply how low frequencies (30hz - 50hz) or not treating room for that region is influencing upper frequencies through harmonics...

      @@georgeweah9717 Typically, sir, when one places comments on the comment section of a video it is expected that they refer to the content of that specific video, especially since a reference pointing to other videos was not provided. That's why I asked you for examples. My comments are in fact specific to this video, which I found to be a complete waste of time, as in having zero useful content. if you have a reference to the video you're referring to, by all means, please provide it.

    Dennis is teaching chess. I'm dabbling in checkers. Managing low frequency information is expensive. It's physics. Learn from this man.

      Pressure and reflections are the two main variables. Everything else falls within one of those two.

    • @bigbrointhesky
      @bigbrointhesky 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hmmm... Chess, huh? You don't manage low frequency information, you attenuate low frequency standing waves to prevent artifacts from standing waves. This video showed nothing of the sort.

      @AcousticFields  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@bigbrointhesky You manage low frequency pressure through attenuation. If you minimize pressure, you minimize "artifacts"

    • @bigbrointhesky
      @bigbrointhesky 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@AcousticFields It's misleading to say "if you minimize pressure you minimize artifacts," without further clarification.The word artifacts was referring to interference effects at the listening position which cause the listener not to hear a frequency at all (nodes) or to hear it much louder (anti-nodes) than the original source of the sound. What we want to minimize is the standing wave itself by attenuating the interfering reflecting wave to prevent both destructive interference (nodes) and constructive interference (anti-nodes) at the listening position.
      The idea is to hear the sound as it comes out of the source without constructive/destructive interference artifacts at certain frequencies due to reflected waves. Phrases such as "minimizing low-frequency pressure" etc. are misleading.
      Respectfully, this video was not particularly informative or useful.

      @AcousticFields  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@bigbrointhesky Minimizing pressure reduces low frequency modes. Reducing the time signature of reflections using the proper rate and level of absorption produces a higher resolution presentation value. Pressure and reflections are much different from each other and the distortion they produce. Room modes can exaggerate or eliminate certain octave bands from audibility. Reflections and their associated time signatures intefere with the direct sound from your speakers. Reducing the reflection time signature below the direct energy is a good start to improving middle and higher frequency resolution.

    Hi Dennis,
    I was considering Adding another layer of saw dust after Mineral wool to increase the rate of absorption in my own customised DIY diaphragmatic bass trap.
    What are your thoughts on this?

    • @AcousticFields
      @AcousticFields  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Stay away from these material types. They do not provide the necessary rates of absorption required inside a diaphragmatic absorber..
