Very cool observations. Over 40+ years of living in small apartments to large homes I can all the mistakes you mentioned here. Most people just line the speakers up in a way that just looks the best.
Incredible how some people spend on highend gear then limit the sound quality with compressed Spotify. Instead, it's much better to use a lossless streaming source like Apple Music.
Increase both your musical source and room resolutions. Your room can have a greater resolution than Apple Music. Now, take your new digital source and place it in your new analog treated room. A synergy of forces occurs and 1 + 1 = 3.
Almost all the high end speaker manufacturers show brochure photos of their $$$ speakers sitting very near walls and enormous windows. It's no wonder a lot of their customers wrongly assume that's the way they should be positioned.
Your joking right? This is all geared towards marketing to the lowest common denominator. The ads say look at me forget how I sound. Its the ultimate hypocracy.
4 feet minimum distance from room boundaries? Most of us aren’t lucky enough to have a dedicated listening room. 2.5 feet is about the maximum from wall to speakers I can get away with.
I'm sure glad I haven't seen the equivalent of my room here. Like many of these folks, my listening room in my living room. The good news is that my rig has to be on the long wall.
Use our foam technology. Its lightweight and can easility be built into panels that can fit inside your window sills. www.acousticfields.com/product/acoustic-panels/
Do what you can afford and can't hurt being better than a brightly reflective surface. We all can't pick where we need to live with real estate prices and many that spend more have less in overall return.

The room only sees energy not the equipment. If people understood just that basic concept, they would reap more enjoyment from their systems.

Dennis this should be printed on all speaker boxes: Keep away from glass (windows especially)!!!
They'd be contradicting many of their own brochure and website product photos showing the speakers placed exactly that way.
They should do a lot of things they don't.
You need to do more of these videos and a bit longer.
Enjoyable content
Thank you.

With smaller distances you more distortions.
Thank you really appreciate your time on doing these videos. Makes so much sense.
Glad it was helpful!

Living/listening rooms are a compromise in both living and listening. It can be somehwat effective if the compromise is not severe.
What is a good way to cover windows?

For one speaker at 1st reflection side wall. Will a towel over a mirror work?
Do what you can afford and can't hurt being better than a brightly reflective surface. We all can't pick where we need to live with real estate prices and many that spend more have less in overall return.
Make sure the towel is at least 4" thick. A 6" is better. Do the same to both left and right channel.
Another thing is that the sun is really good at destroying plastic and rubber, foam too. Look after your gear folks.
Ultraviolet radiation is no joke, especially in desert climates.
