Like what @Matt-pu7ow said. If you idle on the jiffy stand (like you did in the vid) then turn the bike off and check the oil, that will give a false low reading. The bike needs to be idled upright and turned off while it is upright. Then placed on the jiffy stand to check the oil. Idling on the jiffy stand can lead to people seeing a false low reading, putting more oil in and over filling it.
This is the most infuriating thing… just did my oil change and there is no way this dipstick is accurate. The engine has to be leaving oil somewhere it shouldn’t be. My oil was reading right in the middle of the dipstick before I changed it and not with 4.6 qts in it it’s barely reading no matter what I do.. I think Harley has a problem on their hands
If you stop the bike standing up instead of turning it off on the jiffy stand and check the oil on the jiffy stand your oil marking will go up... just so you know
According to the Softail Owners Manual that came with the 2022 Low Rider S, If the bike is cold and leaning on the jiffy stand, oil level should read at the Add QT mark. If the bike is hot (200 Fahrenheit or higher), oil level should read between the ADD QT and FULL HOT mark. Again, this is with the bike leaning on the jiffy stand.
great video! straight to the point! . however I just have one question. My softail is at 5000 miles. Do I need to change the primary and transmission fluid? The owners manual says at 10k miles to do the primary lubricant. And 20k to do the transmission lubricant. Would it hurt to change the primary and transmission and engine oil all at once with only 5000 miles?
Excellent video thx.. Can you tell me if anyone else makes floor boards for mid controls? Those look like Thrasher. Also who makes rear passenger pegs/ sliders? Thx in advance
20w-50 V Twin oil is what they take. One can also use specific transmission oil and transfer case (wet clutch) oil as well, so there would be three different types of oil in each compartment.
I swear I thought you were Bob from bob’s burgers man. Your voice is close. 🤣 thanks for the video.

That was great you really did a good job explaining everything thank you
Great job dude, this is extremely helpful. Appreciate the insight very much, thank you!

I just wanna see how you pulled the oil filter
Hi there, how did you install the Low Rider S analog gauge on your LRST? Can you list the parts? bike looks great and thanks for sharing
Gauge was from Harley and housing from Thrashin. That’s all I recall. Sold the bike.

It wont hurt anything to change everything.
Yeah you should of explained the location of all the holes but other then that it was great
Excellent video, thanks
My 117 badge flew off on the ride home from the dealer 😂
I wish you showed how to take oil tank cover off.
Thanks for sharing your video. I’ve looked at the Tab Slip-On, and they don’t sell to CA residents. If you don’t mind me asking… How did you get it?
Had it sent to a friend in AZ. Then he mailed it to me.
Had the EXACT same issues at the beginning of the video 😂 mine nearly fell off without me peeling it
Harley went cheap on that one!
What fluid did you use for the transmission? The ams oil trans fluid or their 20w50
No engine oil filter?
Excellent video thx.. Can you tell me if anyone else makes floor boards for mid controls? Those look like Thrasher. Also who makes rear passenger pegs/ sliders? Thx in advance
Not sure about the floor boards, but I'm sure others make them besides Thrashin Supply. The rear bar is from Amazon. Don't know who makes it.
Hi, where did you buy those rear footrests? I need protect my hardbags but I can't find anything that really protects them
Get a crash bar. Gives good protection.
5 quarts? or 4 and forgot to turn the engine on to circulate what's in there?
Why make a video and just drop all 3 plugs without saying what is what. 🤡
Why not run that ams 20w50 synthetic in all three holes I don’t know why Ams makes a trans and primary oil seperate it’s prob all 20w50 synthetic
Same intake badge thing happened to my st
Yea. I divested myself of all things Harley. No mas!
Is it three different fluids or are they all the same
Depends on the fluid. One can use the same fluid in all three... or a different fluid in each.
Is that the extended passenger sliders?
I think so.
What kind of motor oil do those bikes take?
20w-50 V Twin oil is what they take. One can also use specific transmission oil and transfer case (wet clutch) oil as well, so there would be three different types of oil in each compartment.
Thank. You because I don’t want to pay 630 in Harley Davidson dealership
I put five qts in mine and it didn’t even register I was freaking out
Shouldnt your final oil level be measured with the bike standing upright? Not on the kickstand?
The dipstick has scales for both. Upright and on stand.
Running on the kickstand gives you a false reading. Too much oil
HD says to “check it on the jiffy stand.” So just following instructions from HD. 🤷♂️🤷♂️
Shut it off then put it on the kickstand and see how high your oil is
