You neglected to mention the fact Israel set up a blockade around Gaza less than a week after Hamas was voted in, severely limiting their ability to govern properly. They imposed a food embargo (saying any material they limit has dual use civil-military) ensuring the Palestinians only have enough to be slightly above the threshold for malnutrition. Hamas was also a direct result of Israeli brutality against peaceful protesters.
