  • There is trouble in the Red Sea. Houthi attacks on ships have seen a diversion of maritime traffic away from the Suez Canal. This has led to rising shipping costs, and broken supply chains could push an already fragile global economy into recession.
Meanwhile, the Houthis have vowed to expand their attacks, even as the war in Gaza becomes a rallying cause for other non-state militant groups. International efforts to broker a ceasefire in Gaza have stalled, while joint naval efforts to stop the Red Sea attacks have seen limited success. With signs that the Red Sea crisis could deepen, what will this mean for India, Vietnam, and the rest of Asia?
    00:00 Introduction

      Honest question.
How much are Indian citizens paying for petrol and diesel per litre. What's the price of rice and flour per KG/10 KG/Quintal compared to previous years? I'm an idiot when it comes to economics. I'm assuming lower gas prices considering the heavily discounted Russian crude import from the Urals.
In my opinion, India could've just easily avoided the Houthis attack had they remained neutral in this Israel Palestine conflict instead of taking sides.

A report on the 7th quoted relevant practitioners as saying that due to the impact of the Red Sea conflict, the shipping insurance market is being graded. Underwriters differentiate between the carriers they insure, and premiums for Chinese cargo ships are more favorable.
Chinese ships sailing in the Red Sea can obtain shipping insurance discounts below the market price, while related ships in the United States, Britain and Israel need to pay higher insurance premiums, and are even directly excluded from coverage by many insurance companies.

Also, Indonesia in the economic sector is close to China through the Whoosh high-speed rail project, Nickel mining, Lithium battery factories, electric vehicles, and other investments.
Meanwhile in the military sector, Indonesia is close to US and allies through the purchase of Rafale (France) and F-15EX (US) jets, Scorpene submarines (France), Italian warships. The soul of the wicked desireth evil: his neighbor findeth no favor in his eyes. Every purpose is established by counsel: and with good advice make war.
Sadly, the Hamas rulers in Gaza took bad advice from many outside parties - and bit off more than they could chew. None of the arab countries want anything to do with Gaza, they are seen as pawns and fools to be used and abused. Gaza is basically an outdoor prison camp to store the radicals nobody wants in their territory. They mercilessly attacked the only nation that allowed them a refuge within their borders... ( Hamas has repeatedly denied the possibility of two state solution )
"Straw that broke the camel's back" Doesn't matter what the world 'public' opinion is - in private most don't give a rat's ass about palestinians in Gaza. Houthi's included !
      May 21, 2011 was the beginning of judgement day on the world { you were warned }
And it shall come to pass in that day, a great tumult from the Lord shall be among them; and they shall lay hold every one on the hand of his neighbor, and his hand shall rise up against the hand of his neighbor. Zechariah 14;13
"Tumult' = confusion & disbelief Division is the result for the destruction of mankind. NO ESCAPE
Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded; But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof: I also will laugh at your calamity, I will mock when your fear cometh. Proverbs 1; 24-26

7-2-2024 Chinese cargo ships passing through the Red Sea receive discounts on insurance premiums, while American and British ships are more expensive or even not insured

Houthis is a nation with a backbone to stand against oppression of Israel.
They target only Israel ships initially, but US, UK attacked Yemen. So now it is ships linked to Israel, US and UK.
So if you are smart Asian business operator. Avoid those ships. China and Russian vessels are safest.

Why would Vietnam be using red sea to export coffee ? This product is a African origin product & north Africa to the middle East has the best diverse types of coffee on the planet. Vietnamese coffee to USA should be going directly to the east coat of America? To Europe is a issue but that could be via Russia these are all commie countries ! Russia is the historical birthplace of Soviet communist politics so from Vietnam via China to Russia to Europe using rail ? Fyi the term Cape of good hope is out of fashion. The country is south Africa & the port of call is the Durban port that currently is the gateway to southern Africa. The Cape seas are still too rough for any docking to be done. Port Elizabeth offers the alternative. Either way the time delay & costs for perishables dies not make this route desirable. This conflict along with COVID & the Ukraine Russia war shows the weakness in global supply lines ie there are no alternatives & if there are it's ineffective & could cause huge losses esp wrt perishables. E.u , USA etc need to formulate alternates now. COVID shuda taught us not to put all our eggs in1 basket.
