Today I'm travelling to Gibraltar, a small British Overseas Territory located at the southern tip of the Iberian Peninsula, where Europe meets Africa. Known for its strategic significance, Gibraltar controls the entrance to the Mediterranean Sea from the Atlantic Ocean. The territory is dominated by the Rock of Gibraltar, a limestone promontory rising 426 meters above sea level, which is home to the famous Barbary macaques, the only wild monkeys in Europe. Gibraltar has a unique blend of British and Mediterranean cultures, reflected in its architecture, cuisine, and daily life. Despite its small size, Gibraltar plays an important role in global shipping and military strategy.

One of the view points up there looks right down on the football stadium, had the national flags of Gibraltar and Macedonia laid out on the pitch for the game later on, I was well chuffed with the view and the fact that I recognised the Macedonian flag.
So the guide was a woman who clearly didn't like football was like "you see the stadium apparently there is a game on tonight, the national team are playing....I don't know" and I popped up "Macedonia, that's the flag on the pitch alongside Gibraltar's", not a soul was remotely interested or impressed at the random flag knowledge would you believe? Some even gave seemed to give me the evils. Zero respect for the beatiful game and a bonus smatter of vexillology, nope, far more interesed in looking at monkeys wanking 😂

Not a proud shoutout...I met J Saville, in Gibraltar, whilst having a morning run. I was in the RAF at the time. 😮😮😮. Thank fuck I was too old.

Hi Ed, my daughter has a flat in E1, could have given you a few tips. There’s another way to walk from the airport that involves a tunnel and brings you out right near E1, you don’t have the pleasure of walking over the runway but you won’t be delayed by traffic lights and it’s about the same distance. Also, the square where you had you fish n chips is not the place for that meal, there are a lot more places which are served just like home. Just like to add that the place you had your last day breakfast downstairs at E1 is fabulous and keeps you going all day. Great video ☝️☝️
You should try Jersey. Very bizarre twist of France and England. War tunnels are cool too
Tyres on corrugated roofing is normal anywhere the winds get up a bit mate, it stops the roof getting ripped off by a big gust of wind and due to the shape and material they stay in place

I’ve been visiting Gibraltar for 38 years as my aunt moved to Spain just a few miles over the border. It’s a unique place, cheap booze, cheap cigs, expensive food as all needs to be shipped in. Europa point is nice to visit where you can see Atlantic and Mediterranean meet

there's a video I saw a while ago about Gibraltar, there's a hidden British base in the mountain, it was built in case the Germans succeeded in taking it over, it was a base built completely separate from the power grid and was ran all manually, via bike power and it had everything they needed but it never got used so it just fell into ruins.

I moved back to England from Gibraltar in April. Absolutely beautiful place.
The cable car would have been free too if you booked a meal at the restaurant on top of the rock. Very reasonable prices too, and you can skip the queues.
Shame your visit was so short because there is so much to do and see that you sadly haven’t experienced.
Just to add too, it’s very unusual for you to have had slow service twice in one day. I’m not sure what day you filmed this, but Friday and Saturday nights are very busy, especially at Ocean Village.

You can get a mini bus car tour to the top with stops at the cave and monkeys they also bring you all the way back down and provide commentary about Gibralter and its history. I thought it was quite good. There is also a light show in the cave (in the seating area) which I think you missed. Edit - you didnt miss the light show :)
Have visited Gib many times over the years and agree with you about service standards. It seems that local people are not interested in working in hospitality, and those few that do are not the most motivated of people. Apart from that though I love the place. Great for a long weekend and a very safe place
Ed try to visit Capetown. Its quite the place an uneasy alliance between the sublime and the ridiculous. You might love it. The food is great and the people too.

Not sure if I missed any of what I’m about to say, but all street names and road signs are British, as well as driving on the British side of the road. Classic red telephone boxes are around and lots of high street shops that you’d see in the UK. When I went last year I felt like I was in the UK tbf

I’m using this video as preparation for the Gibraltar v San Marino game next week!
I did the drive from Benalmadena to Gibraltar a few years back. It was just my luck that the weather was misty, so I didn't see Africa from the rock, but I did have a decent mixed grill for only £7.20 at the first pub we came to, so all good.
I especially appreciated how they reinforced it was Britain by having a vending machine with Walkers crisps a few paces after passport control at the border.
I love how half the tunnels just contain servers for online casinos.

You should try Jersey, they have an amazing fish and chip restaurant called Seafish Cafe

Great nostalgic video for me. I went years ago and the coach driver gave us monkey nuts to feed monkeys and the monkeys 🐒 sat on our shoulders, cute photo etc. But then a big fat monkey King Kong pushed the little baby monkey shoulder off my back, jumped on my back and took a piss down my back. 🤮🤮🤮 I swear to god!! We were only on day trip so had to purchase a new tshirt, have a wash in public toilets... Apparently its lucky? I would disagree as had to throw my shirt out and buy another one I didn't really want. Lucky for Gibraltar maybe lol. The bus tours are they best and we enjoyed the rock and views of Africa but you can't always see if its misty. Great video though xxx ❤

I had a mr beast bar in Singapore it was expensive as all hell too. Americans are not used to real chocolate so a lot of them think it's amazing but it is like a strange milk cadbury which is not bad.

10:17 and THAT is why houses that were high up on the rock and facing that direction were VERY popular with drug smugglers! In Morroco they would fill small boats with Hash, Weed, Cocaine manned often with children (cheap disposable labour!) The person in Gibraltar could signal the Moroccan side when the coast was clear of coastguard boats and they would then go flat out in the boats to get to the Gibraltar beaches ASAP, unload the drugs and go back for another load! House prices in the rock were crazy expensive and I'm guessing most likely still are!
