    This thing can go to space, collect some soil samples on Mars and come back to earth safely 😅. What an amazing job you've done here, this is by far the slickest and mightiest board I've seen on TH-cam. Kudos!!

    I just wanted to say thanks for this awesome Masterclass video. I found it helpful that you gave us an "ear palette cleanser" with your clean tone before engaging the effects. It really helped to better train my ear on what to listen for when tweaking patches. And I found all your topics to be awesome (especially compressor setting, gain staging/stacking mindset, wet effects before amps). My patches are already getting better!

    This vid earned a sub. The board earned my absolute respect. It is truly a thing of beauty .Pure eye ,and ear candy.
    I've been collecting effects, and building pedal boards for 5 years .Nothing like this work of art, but I did just finish a SA750XDM my first with a switcher (Musicom labs EFX MK-VI) .Still figuring out how to program it, the manual is practically useless.
    It's by far my most expensive build. Also my biggest, it weighs the same as my DSL 40 lol .

    This really is a dream board, im planning to organise/whittle down my 30 pedals , tonex, and boss multieffects into something like this but its hard to sacrifice for floor space so it might end up just becoming a multi tiered monster to fit everrything as its for recording rather than gigging so i want to have access to everything easily lol. This has given me some ideas though.
    But definately The secret preamp is an underrated piece of kit and i havent heard many talk about it, seemed abit expensive for a one trick pony pedal, but the way it shapes the tone makes it an always on pedal, something just feels wrong/missing with it turned off lol

      I saw that. Looks real interesting! But it seems like the ideal use case for that is to run it with real cabs, yeah? I know it has a cab sim in it too, but it seems like it was really intended to be used with real cabs. Also, unlike the ToneX pedals, with the Milkman you can only have 1 amp sound. Maybe it's a good amp sound, but you're stuck with it. Not sure it would be something I'd personally pursue at the moment. But I'm sure others will find it really useful!

It's just so versatile!

    • @djpgreek
      @djpgreek ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thetoneshepherd I totally understand. The reason I say that is because in all honesty, I didn’t really notice much of a difference in the daily driver when you had it on using the long ambient verb. I would imagine you could probably get that same effect out of the HX boost or drive and save some board space. But if you feel it, that’s different than hearing it in the TH-cam video. I’m also intrigued by tonex vs Kingsley and TwoNotes. Im using a Maiden D and Torpedo CABM+ and wondering how that combo compared to Tonex

    • @thetoneshepherd
      @thetoneshepherd  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I won't deny that the way I'm using the Daily Driver, there are a lot of other ways to get that sound. But having a dedicated hardware effect to serve that purpose is very helpful when switching between guitars or in the studio and wanting to make certain changes on the fly. Could I do it in the Stomp too? Sure, but it wouldn't be as fast or intuitive.
      As far as the Kingsley combo, it served it purpose but didn't last too long. That was my first attempt at a hybrid rig and may it was my inexperience at the time but I didn't bond with it. It was also not stereo which I'm a stickler for now.

      I’ve tried wet effects after the ToneX a few times, yes. Because the RJM is a matrix switcher, I can just design a preset with the wet fx after at any time. I experimented with setting my global preset to have wet fx after for more ambient tones, but in the end I just prefer the way the verb and delay hit the amps when they’re positioned before. Just a tonal preference.

But my church plays in a more folky style (lots of hymns, Sandra McCracken and so on) so the big reverbs/delays and lots of drives isn't very appropriate a majority of the time. Additionally, most of the time the band consists of an acoustic, bass, keys and 3 female singers. I think I am struggling to figure out how I can fit in with and add value to the established sound.
