The Boss IR-2 is stereo.... mono input, but stereo output and stereo return loop. It is excellent! I got one the week they were released after I saw the price and what it offered in the way of amps. I am very pleased. I have integrated it into my MS-3 based pedalboard that I have a Klon clone and zoom MS-70CDR added to for ambient effects. For the price you can't go wrong! I think I may get a 2nd one so I could run 2 amp/cab types at the same time like I do in other situations or with modelers.
I have the HX Stomp and the GT1000 core, and I use the GT1000 core far more often. The Boss has FAR less latency, and I just prefer the sound of Boss effects. But the killer feature for me is that every spot in the chain where you insert a split, you can assign a variable trigger. So you can send all low frequencies down one part of the chain and all other frequencies down a different path. Or you can assign pick attack, so light picking goes down one chain path, and hard picking goes down a different path. And so on. That type of feature gives you infinite customization for how you play.
I love the Tonex. Its ability to take wet effects in front really sets it apart from every other digital device I’ve tried. I’m rebuilding my board around it and selling my FM9.
The number one thing I love about the tonex(besides the obvious how it sounds) is being able to use a clean amp and a different overdriven amp. For worship on Sundays I just use one amp capture with pedals. However when I’m playing anything but worship I could use like a fender twin as my cleans and a dual rec, or a Plexi, or literally any other amp as my drive sound. with a third for a lead sound. A close second would be how well it does take pedals, especially wet effects.
I have set my banks Clean, Drive, Lead capture of the same amp. I still have a POT and GC drives but I hardly use them now. I would typically just use one bank but depending on what I’m playing, I’d use 2 or 3. Last Sunday I was playing rhythm so I used 3 different banks 😇
I play out sometimes in a 90’s 00’s rock band and I usually like the twin for cleans and I’ll use a dual rec, 5150, JCM800 and others. All in separate banks. Also I most of the time for a lead sound I’ll use the tumnus on the same amp I’m using in whatever song it is been my favorite pedal for lead sounds. For church I usually use a matchless or the twin with the protein, kilt and tumnus to produce the different sounds I need. Works for me
Yes! How well they take wet effects is my favorite thing! No other amp pedal does it better. I also really liked the midi. I used it like channel switching.
@@rhoydotp yeah, that was a weird take. It’s super useful in certain situations. I typically like to only have one amp setting, to make it easier for the audio engineer to just pull up my old settings, but when I went to a small board, I only used the protein for drives, and having the midi options on the Tonex was huge for making all the sounds I needed.
I use two of the UA amp pedals for my stereo sound each going to its own amp, FRFR speaker or PA mixer, I couldn’t take the option paralysis of some of the other platforms now I use UA amp pedals they are more than versatile enough as far as the different ways you can use them and most importantly they sound great! To save some people time and money. Save money: The ToneX is spot on with the tone of the amps it’s capturing. So if you want the most realistic amp tone, get it. There are folks who capture their amps and then haven’t touched their amp since. They just run the ToneX of it. Save Time: Most of the really good capturers put one or two of their amps captures up for free. Then you have to purchase their tone packs to get access to their full spectrum of the captures they did on the particular amp. After many trials, here are some great amps for worship. This also allows you to do the clean, dirty, and distortion on the ABC presets without having to use any overdrives or boosts in front of the ToneX. I bought the line 6 pod express (the plastic red one) and I hated it at first and returned it. Then I tried it again and fell in love with it. I’m hooked on the modelers now! I just needed to learn how to dial in the sounds correctly and treat it like an amp.
Videos of recorded tones of the vox and Ruby and the plexi and Lion would be cool. If you have a reactive load, running them all through the ox stomp to level the cab/mics at one point might be cool too.
Although the Stomp power supply is 3 Amps, it actual draws less than 1. I power a Stomp XL with two 660mA jacks on a Cioks DC7 (plus adapters) without a problem. Most power supplies consider 500mA high power. Two of those jacks can power a Stomp, but might be a little short for an XL.
Thansk, I really enjoyed this. I’m using HX Stomp with HXFX (just kinda happened, wasn’t intentional) due to community/support, but it was great to hear about all the other devices.
We are looking to simply replace our tube amp with a profiler for not needing to have amp screaming in a back room and consistently. Looking at the hx stomp or the kemper player. We all have our own full pedal boards with drives and verbs, so no need for effects. Which will work better? I like the XLR out on the kemper but i like the idea that we can one day run real stereo on the line 6, but will need to still use a DI box.
All the options? What about the boss IR pedals? You guys also should take a look at budget minded stuff. There are great tones to be had in the Zoom MS-50. I have a full Strymon midnight board and a small board with two zoom ms pedals. The little zoom holds up remarkably well live.

I’m really enjoying the Lion and Strymon Dig in the fx loop of the HX Stomp, using the Stomp for compression, drive, modulation, and reverb. The Helix amps are good, but not as good as the UAFX amps, so it frees up the Stomp to do what it does best.

@timburle4980 Fuller started a new job/career a little while ago, so he hasn’t had as much time as he used to. It’s not that he doesn’t fit in. We’ll have more content in the future with Fuller.
You need to probably do a video on putting your pastor behind the stage if he wants to have you put your amp behind the stage. It's only fair... ;) Thankfully, the church I play at wouldn't dare. As a result, we don't tell him how to dress or how to do his job. (It needed to be said.)
I think the crux with DLC, or openly saying that you purposefully nerfed a product so it can't directly compete, says it all. It is all about the money.

Should I keep my Helix LT and get the kemper?? Does it sound closer to an amp?? HELP!!!! 😢😔😔
The only thing that bugs me ( I have a kemper stage) is the no stereo out, and the effects are limited. I'd really recommend going the extra mile and getting the stage and maybe building around that. You might only need an external drive if you dont like the drives in kemper. Thats what I am considering doing just to get a sound more like a pro's tone that I like. But everything in there is really useable and I love it. The kemper really has the best sounding amps IMO, and there are thousands of choices from the rig exchange and many people share their stuff on the kemper forum, The community is great I would recommend. The only thing I might say is better in terms of effects, tweak-ability, and tone would be an axe fx 3. Theres a reason many pros use it. You could always go down the QC route.
If you scrub to the section of the video where we discuss the Kemper Player, we spend quite a bit of time talking about our opinions on Kemper in general. The Kemper player also does have stereo out. It's mono in, but stereo out (and you can run stereo effects in the player after the amp section).

I run an Origin Revival drive into Ox Stomp into my Blackstar Amped1 for the power and XLR. Sounds amazing in a huge room
Very cool!
The joyo amp pedals are amazing and only cost $40.
What mic are you guys using? Looking for one for a similar set for our ministry.
As far as the Helix's brother... What are your thoughts on the new 2.0 firmware PodGo? I know you did a video on the original software awhile ago.
Please tell me the IR pack for the JH100 G12C speakers is coming out soon. I have a Marshall Vintage Modern Combo which is basically the same amp and speakers, plus the nice modern features like a loop, master volume and reverb. I’m dying to get some good IRs of those speakers for when I can’t bring out the amp itself.
Soon-ish :)
Also I was one of the dudes that went from an amp pedal to stomp. I had the UA dream, then I had the Acs1, now I use the stomp pedal
Two notes opus, dynri are great.
The iridium offers the most realistic amp models without having to tweak them. I don’t think any company tops Strymon on any pedals.
i can think of a few
@@Monkeydoge u you pure entitled to your opinion. I stated mine and I’ve tried many but strymon has been way higher quality
@@Monkeydogeme too lol.
lol
Very true ! I'd a/b's the iridium and ACS-1, an the iridium had my preference : easy access, ir's upgrade, takes well pedals, goos in the mix, stereo, ...make it unbeatable
Great video guys!
Any ideas on how to power that kemper player from a zuma? I'm assuming a current doubling cable will come out eventually like it did for the hx stomp, but that doesn't help us early adopters haha
Zero idea 😂 the wattage throws me off. I know how to decipher how to power things with volts and mA but watts I’m lost haha
I think you take the watts/volts and that gives you mA, which would mean the player requires 2.7A. I'm just curious if its like the HX stomp which says it needs 3A but works off of 1A. @@worshiptutorials
I really wanna know if hx stomp runs wet effects well as tonex runs, or even as the iridium/acs1.
How does the acs1 compares to the iridium after the new firmware?
I have went back to the iridium two times now Something about the tone
Commenting on Kemper’s approach @ 54:30.
No morph is ok but no screen!!
Great video guys! I feel like yall would know the answer to this by now… I have an hx stomp and use it on my board for various fx. I’ve heard people say the stomp fx loop has a tone suck or affects the tone negatively. Have yall found this to be true? Would use it for sure just don’t know if that’s accurate and don’t want to rewire my whole board if it is a negative effect
I haven’t experienced that but can be very easy to test for yourself to see what you think!
Will you guys be making IRs for the Boss IR-2? People would love that.
We have quite a few cab/speaker IR's as well as acoustic IR's that should be compatible with the IR-2. We're trying to get our hands one of those units to show it off with our IR cabs.
Great show love the live format.
I run my stomp with one of the dumble amps, dual IR (I have some of yalls but I use E Edwards Jmod100 irs) and I run two delays, and two reverbs
With those effects, are you maxing out the DSP?
Has the wifi connection issues been sorted with the quad cortex? I had one right in the begining and liked it but it just had so many bugs and issues that i got rid of it
I’ve had my QC almost from the beginning. Hadn’t had a WiFi issue till the last few months
I am currently thinking about buying a Hotone Ampero II Stage instead of an HX Stomp. Do you have any experience with the new Stage?
Very wise to preamble with your justification for not doing shootout sound samples... I did some videos recently and people gave me the funniest hate comments because I didn't have sound samples. 😂
I actually think the ampero 2 is better than the stomp...
+1 lol sold the helix-stomp-sold stomp- kepmer+ pedals now back to a stomp and tonex lol.
You left out the boss ir 200 which is possibly the best of the bunch.
We addressed Boss for a good bit 👍🏼
Not as good as tone x and quad/ kemper
Bradford! I play a Jamison era* Lightning on Sundays. Which pedal-sized unit (i.e not QC) would you recommend for silent practice at home and as a backup on Sundays? I'd love a QC but a lot of these options are much cheaper for the simple use case I'm interested in. Thank you!
*Making that a thing because Phil is great!
Let’s make Jamison era a thing! (This is Brian btw).
@@worshiptutorials Appreciate you, Brian! I'd love your insights as a C-30 owner, but I know Bradford is the Lightning guy. 🤘
I have an iridum and currently use the York Audio Matchless pack while I’m waiting on my HC30 to arrive. I think you’ll find this one fantastic.
@@jordanguill361 Thank you! Enjoy your HC30!
You guys say the HX modeling is old, but it’s arguably one of the newest cus they keep updating it.
While they do keep adding new models, they aren’t updating the underlying modeling process/technology
@@worshiptutorialsand it doesn’t take 3A to run the HX Stomp! It takes like 1.2A, or usually a bit less.
HX does tweak the underlying engine with firmware updates, they just don’t tell you every time.
Hm my link to Digital Igloo’s (Eric Klein) TGP post isn’t showing, I guess TH-cam blocks it.
@@worshiptutorials oh and you guys yourselves said the new HX amp models sound so good... there's no other reason that'd be the case other than improved modeling process/tech.
I downloaded the Tonex and Helix Native software and did an A/B comparison...sorry but the Helix amps sounded 2D and the Tonex amps sounded 3D, Helix is very outdated when it comes to modeling, effects are very good...try it yourself without being a Helix fan
Are you on staff at church of the highlands?
No. I (Brian) am not on staff at a church. I do volunteer but I don’t not attend Highlands.
NEURAL AMP MODELER ❤
That wobbly table is making us all seasick.
Put a sticky note over it
What amps/model would you use for the triple shots?
Love the videos but you need a sturdier table!
WHAT! Iridium has headphone out! ... That's a reason for me to reconsider that pedal. (See how gear math works?)
😂
I had no idea that Brian was from my hometown!
I know you guys probably need your phones for notes etc - but it is really distracting that one of you talks, while the other one looks at his phone.
Great content - it's just a little frustrating to watch.
We can’t engage if we don’t read. Kinda the nature of a livestream.
Agreed. Livestream or not, there are ways to do it so that both hosts are present.
Where’s the Sans Amp and flyrig5
We needed this video! WT FTW
missing the fractal guys :-)
Fractal doesn’t really make a pedal in this market. FM3 is the closest thing but it’s way bigger than all these, and does way more. It’s really an all in one.
I have kpa headrush and Tone x and tone x wins imo
Dudes, yall are kinda close to where I'm at .... bout 125 miles. I'm in Phenix city Alabama. I pluck notes on da Bass at my church.
I play all the songs the same haha. I mean I am certainly not doing it as the recording artist. The rest of our P&W say I'm doing great....😅 I told them .. your Christian, you can't tell me I suck😂 love yall show !!
I can't get on board with the Kemper limitations. Releasing a new product that super cedes a 10 year old product is just the way it works... I can't see why anyone would buy a new Kemper Profiler Head at this point.
Does the tonex work also for acoustic guitar sounds ?
Yeah you could. You can use it to host an acoustic IR. You’d just need to turn the amp section off
Purple plexi is the pinacle
This is a nice video!! But wassup with the other guy Fuller I guess I haven’t seen him a long time, just wondering!
I was wondering that as well. Guess he didn’t fit in.
@timburle4980 Fuller started a new job/career a little while ago, so he hasn’t had as much time as he used to. It’s not that he doesn’t fit in. We’ll have more content in the future with Fuller.
Ooooooooh thanks for the clarification, he is an awesome dude can’t wait to see him soon enough
It's distracting to me as a viewer when Bradford is texting on his phone while being talked to in a video. Just sayin.
6:20 - There are 6 on Reverb right now.
All I see are pre orders.
I want a job where I "have" to buy all the new toys when they come out even though I have more than I'll ever need several times over.
The Friedman IR-X is pretty cool! 😃
We haven't tried that one yet - I'd love to.
Boss dropped the ball on the 1000.. bad ui and missed opportunity
H90 is up there if not better than HXstomp. Yeah, it’s better. 😂
H90 is not a modeler. It is effects only. I love my h90 though. I have a boss gt 1000 core as well
Hey Guys God bless you 👋
I'm thinking of building my pedalboard...I have a line 6 helix LT and I'm thinking of getting a Kemper Player to go more light weight..I've never used kemper but I heard alot of rumors that it's really good..but can u guys give me ur opinion??
@@David_Perez06
Awesome thanks..yeah cause It takes me forever to make Helix presets and snapshots..and with a 1 year old baby I just don't have the time to make a preset 😬
@@esmeecirolozano7618 Hey man, congrats. All units take time to dial in so while it may come pretty good out of the box, take some time to dial in according to your preference, itll be worth it. Especially with so much stuff to work with, its very fun!!!
@@David_Perez06 thank you 🙏
And yeah it takes time..too much time though..I've been having my Helix Lt for 6 years and idk..ever since I've played on a tube amp it's just unsatisfying..that's why I'm leaning more towards like kemper or tonex cause people say it's more amp like 🤔
