    yes every SSL sounds slightly different - especially after 20 years of usage , lol! Hav you been using the bucket setup? Wish they had that for the PA Lindell 50 API.

    In other DAWs (e. g. Reaper - and Harrison Mixbus I believe as well) CLA MixHub does automatically recognize channel names so this is rather a Studio One deficiency and not Wave's fault. The same applies to other VSTs (Neutron etc.).

    I would gain stage by reducing the region gains for all Audio in the DAW first. Make sense as the common practice today is that developers emulate the Line/Mic input for console plugins. By doing what you did the color from the plugin would not allow for the saturation and whatnot. SSL sounds better when driven harder, as all console plugins does.

    Thanks for the video. Have you had an opportunity to test this plugin via a Waves StudioRack plugin, which processing is off-loaded onto a SoundGrid Extreme Server-C? I am curious to hear how efficiently the track/group/buss count in your video runs in the SoundGrid server.

    in pro tools it recognizes the track names and adds them automatically

      People are saying that. This may be a studio One issue? I'll have to look into that.

    My thoughts are it's great for the overall first run or two of mix then after you could fine tune and automate with the DAW faders and sends, etc.

  • @RELLBEATS1

    With Protools it automatic names it for you. Maybe its a updated version not sure or if its just protools.

    Hi, about the naming of tracks, I have my plugin on the last insert in every channel and the first insert on output buss and whatever I've named the channel in my DAW it shows up in the plugin and so I suppose it all depends on how you have set it up, also using the the lite version saves a hell of a lot of CPU power. Great video though it's really informative.

    Almost a bit ironic that SSL perfected this original idea. The 360 software takes care of each of your 3 issues, it's auto-names the tracks, features solo buttons, and uses minimal CPU in relation. Once they came out with v2 of Native I haven't used the MixHub again. Great times we've experienced over the decades, advancements come fairly quick. Regards.

    Interesting plugin, and great review, thanks Dave. Regarding Mac Pro trash cans, multi-cores and CPU usage: I was under the impression that DAWs, like Studio One were not designed to be able to take advantage of multi-core threading as of yet. Has this changed in the newer versions?

    • @HomeRecordingMadeEasy
      @HomeRecordingMadeEasy  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's a great question. I was under the impression that the 64bit version did that

      @@HomeRecordingMadeEasy Upon further investigation, from the Presonus support site: As of approx. May 2018; "The multiprocessing and CPU cores parameters in Preferences/Audio Setup have been removed because Studio One now manages all multi-core and multi-processing related functions as part of Dropout Protection"

      @@HomeRecordingMadeEasy hum.. that's what I'm into now, I use a neve NLS to spread "different" channels across the tracks, then tape, ..freeze, and only then I start mixing with another NLS SSL across everything then SSL channel strip to start mixing. I think this last 2 steps can be save by one Brainworx SSL - as it looks like it can do different harmonic content channels inside each instance of the plug-in. SSL EV2 sounds great but doesn't do this and its a brutal CPU hog.. so I'm checking ways to simplify the workflow.
      Your video for the analog workflow inside DAW was very inspiring to my approach and I mixed 3 blues singles and I really liked the results -2 already released, and one to come out this November.
      Thanks for your content and reply!

    Hey Dave, great video. I’m really considering this plugin but I do have a couple of questions that are very important to me. 1, if I have a UAD plugin in a channel insert in protools such as a reverb, will the CLA mixhub pick it up? Also, can individual parameters within every channel be automated?

    • @HomeRecordingMadeEasy
      @HomeRecordingMadeEasy  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      no you cant put anything other than another Waves plugin in the insert. Dont know about the automation question. you should go demo it and that that out.

    • @jorgiewtf
      @jorgiewtf 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Home Recording Made Easy I meant on the protools insert itself, not the CLA Mixhub SSL channel insert. Hope I’m making sense, but yes, I will demo it also. Thank you for the reply!

    One of the things I don't like about it, is that you cannot adjust the size of the mixhub window, so it makes it difficult to open up more than one plug in window to get as many buckets on the screen as possible. The other thing is cpu power. But...I agree since it was pretty cheap, its worth it, but might not be my favorable way of doing things.

    This plugin names the tracks in Pro tools. Heard it may be a bug in other software. I dont worry about the solo button for now because I abuse the solo button anyway. Its a small learning curve to get use to. Soon you will start switching between buckets fast. I bought it. Kinda eliminated about 5 other plugs I didnt need.

  • @nilskarig9117

    I pretty much liked your video because I`m just trying to learn more about mixing and mastering and several youtube videos explaining the process with SSLs are very helpful for me.
    Regarding the track naming I checked this in Cubase 10 on a Windows 10 PC with VST version. On this system the tracknames given in the daw automatically appear in the inserted plugin instances. So no extra effort in setting up CLA Mixhub for naming the tracks in the plugin.
    I agree that having mute and solo buttons in the plugin would be even more convenient. But this doesn´t seem to be a disadvantage of this channel strip plugin. It`s the same with Waves Scheps Omni Channel and UADs SSL Channelstrip. Maybe it`s a missing property in the intarface between DAW and plugin and could be a cool feature of future versions.
