    Finally!,... someone who takes the time to properly explain in great detail on how to perform a task by setting the bar high and meeting or exceeding his own expectations of himself in order to gain integrity with his viewers. Well done Speedy and continue to push others to reach for high standards in what they post. Also, that Mustang had no idea what it was up against but I'm sure the driver will remember your car and not test you in the future to avoid further embarrassment.

    Sir,
    This Video is an incredible oration and narrative of how this conversion should be accomplished. Thank you for NOT saying words such as ""like" , "ummmm", "ahhhh" and "ohhhhh" . Really impressive and your professionalism is beyond reproach.
    Thank you for your VIDEO and your time.
    Grace and Blessings to you and your family Sir.

    I clicked on the link for the kit at Amazon and WOW!!!! $2500.00 for just the front? So, 5k for all four? That is a lot of cash for just brakes. If I had that lying around to spend on Charger R/T, I'd spend it on upgrading the motor to get more ponies going.

    • @SpeedysGarage
      @SpeedysGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pricey, but the brakes were the next biggest change to the car besides the supercharged engine.

    • @williamcattr267
      @williamcattr267 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SpeedysGarage Oh, I can agree, but when you consider paying approximately $600+ per month (not counting insurance) for these Charger/Challenger R/T, SRT's, and Hellcats (I won't even go into the whole Demon thing), there is little money left over to pay for stuff like that, unless of course you are a Doctor, Lawyer, or some big bread earner (or work two jobs for 80 hours per week). For us lesser mortals getting by on less than $50,000 a year or less, $2500 for brakes had better cover all 4 wheels and carry a lifetime warranty and lifetime pad replacement!

    Great information and video, thanks for posting! If you get a chance, could you do a follow up video on the braking performance after running it for a couple of months? In our Texas heat and crazy stop/start traffic, I am interest in how the rotors are going to hold up. Anyways, thanks again for filming and posting, keep the videos coming!

    • @SpeedysGarage
      @SpeedysGarage  9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      TheTexasCoder Sure thing. All the testing on the Baer system was done in nearly 100° heat and 50-60% humidity. Even the pad bedding procedure which was 8 panic stops in a row and the brakes barely broke a sweat.

  • @eldiablort1461

    Good vid. Only thing I’ll say is that for maximum performance, drilled rotors don’t work well for these heavy vehicles under repeated heavy braking, and while they look cool, don’t serve a real purpose besides looks. What you really want is slotted or an OEM style rotor for maximum grip surface area, and preferably slotted for high performance driving or track days.
    Engineering Explained has two very good videos on this, plus talking to any high performance drivers will also yield this same advice. You won’t find these types of rotors on any real track car.

    • @SpeedysGarage
      @SpeedysGarage  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Don't disagree, however if you're using a car like this on a road course I'd say you might have chosen the wrong weapon for the job :) At the drag strip these made a HUGE difference at the end of the 1/4 and were a fantastic upgrade. Looked good at car shows to boot as you pointed out.

  • @cory0702
    @cory0702 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do you remember what size the stock RT rotors were. I'm asking in the event I want to run slicks on a 15 inch rim. A friend did this with his ZO 6 and made a big difference at the drag strip.
    I look forward to your videos. They are very informative.
    Thanks Sid

    Good detail on install, did you have to do any shimming on the Calipers once they were mounted? I have a '65 Impala with a H.O. 454 running on 20 inch wheels, after watching your break-in process I feel confident in buying the 14" front and 13" rear kit. Thanks for awesome video install 😎👍👍

    • @SpeedysGarage
      @SpeedysGarage  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! No shimming was required. The caliper mounts were billet pieces machined to an exact fit. A VERY nice brake setup for sure.

    Have the same kit on my 11 Charger RT. They are great, low dust. Only problem I'm having was that after 2 years the Front rotors got some real bad hard spots, where the whole front end was shaking. I decided to change them followed the instructions just like the first time bedding the brakes hardening the rotors. A year later I have hard spots again only half as bad as the first time though. It's annoying, especially its my daily driver. Any similar problems on your end?

    • @ron177188

      i have heard breakins do more harm them good your better off this driving it around town for while to break them in then do there process i learned the hard way just with regular systems and performance rotors and pads

    • @anoint426hemi6
      @anoint426hemi6 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Drilled rotors tear up pad lining and if it overheated it causes patches on the rotors which give a car or truck the shakes when the brakes are applies. Grooved rotors with stock type pads are best on the street. Competition pads are better suited for the track.

    In Europe we don't know BEAR brakes!!!
    Saw this the first time in TV shows like "rides" or "overhaulin'".
    In quality, with what System do they can messed/compared with?
    Like BREMBO, STOP TECH, AP Racing, Alcon....?
    Or with Ksport, D2, XYZ etc....?
    When I see (for example) "overhaulin'" with Chip Foose, than they always put that BEARs in the cars..... why?
    Do Foose have a special membership with that BEAR?

      +airsoft21887 Congrats on getting a very nice ride as a 16th birthday present. Honestly, if I were you I'd put a nice mellow cat back system on the car for a good note and just drive it. Save your money for now as these cars have a lot of performance right off the show room floor. Most bolt ons won't do a whole lot and superchargers are likely outside of a part time budget.

      13.6 is stock for the front on a r/t and 12.8 for the rear
