@@46lurtz I agree people do that but I just build that into the schedule. Tell people the meeting starts at 8:45 or 8:50 but you actually start getting to business at 9:00.
Asking everyone to be there at 9:00 but actually expecting them at least 10 minutes early is a bit presumptuous of each person's behavior. Just tell them when you actually want them there without the games.

@@46lurtz Well, "as a manger", if everyone showed up to your meetings 15 minutes early, you're losing 15 minutes of work per employee. If you have dozens of employees, you are losing hours of work a day per meeting. You should know this.
I'm a Foreman at a HD mechanic shop, and I would be pissed, if I saw my guys standing around the lunchroom 15 minutes early for the meetings.
If your "peeps are milling around with their water, coffee, taking a piss break, etc." they simply don't respect you OR your time. Having them arrive 15 minutes early to a meeting won't change that.
That said, I do like to see my guys at work 15 minutes early, because I expect them to be in their coveralls, punched-in, and in their bays at 7am ready to turn a wrench. And I also allow them 15 min at the end of shift to clean up their bays, put their tool away, and wash up, ready to punch-out at 3:30pm.

Exactly. And it is not like the ideal of the government or police is bad, they have bad actors that abuse those systems. But the ideal of the mob is pure authoritarianism. It was kinda disappointing to see Joe rationalize (badly I might add) a line of work that inflicts terror, tyranny and murder on its surroundings. I was happy that the guest was more separate his opinions from the mobsters excuses.

In some situations it’s true but at the same time you should never work for free. I know several people who have worked for smaller construction companies or small farms for weeks or even months and didn’t get paid for it because stuff happens and the company just doesn’t have the money or something doesn’t work out.

It's a pool cleaning business, not a charity. That's already obvious. "Whaddaya think I'm stupid? You think I got you out here to work for free? You think I'm going to fucking direspect the guy who recommended you and sent you here by mugging you off? Huh?" It's not going to go down well.

If you're struggling to see how bloody good this advice is (I'm sure not though since this guy articled the advice PERFECTLY!!)
Lets just a second to apply to something as simple yet fundamental to most as school.
The student who truly does the best is the one that
      A. Is ahead of time and is willing to complete all the work that needs to be done before their deadline
      B. Is willing to make some kind of sacrifices to study ahead and go beyond what is being taught in just today's lesson. This is the kind of person that study the first semester during summer breaking, using the upcoming year's syllabus to their advantage and getting ahead and making Succès actually much easier to achieve long term!
      C. Is not entitled to receiving a good grade, but still achieves it because they put in such valuable and commendable work that it's very hard for their teachers or exam board to not reward them for their clear, undeniable success. If you well, the result will follow.
