  • Diagnosed with High Grade Serous Carcinoma of the uterus, a very aggressive cancer with a high rate of re-occurrence . After a total hysterectomy and oophorectomy, I am undergoing adjuvant therapy which will consist of Chemo and radiation. This documents the week after my first infusion with the drugs Taxol and Carboplatin. Thank you to everyone for all the warm wishes. Thanks for following my Cancer Journey.

    My oncologist told me to take Claritin for the bone pain, and it worked like a charm. I take one a day for about 4 days after my chemo and haven’t had the first ache or pain.

      Bobbye, thank you for the Claritin tip. I just had a recurrence and am repeating 6 rounds of Carboplatin and Taxol. I took your advice and have had much less bone pain.

    WHAT???!!! You worked out!??? Wow, I am in awe. I couldnt function except for working around the house first few days due to steroid boost. Then it was on full rest until the next time. You go girl!

      Kiki the first week was very difficult but after they doubled my nausea meds I was better. I am trying to maintain my regular schedule. The last two weeks I have been feeling better and go to the gym everyday for only about a half hour on the treadmill. I am just a couple of months out from total hysterectomy and oophorectomy so going very slowly. My sessions are 3 weeks apart so I have had time to recover. My next one is this Thursday. Please stay in touch!

    Expressive videos. Watching and listening to you each day is very indicative of what you are going through. I was surprised about the neuropathy....🤔 hhhmmmm. How many chemo sessions will you be receiving?
    Gentle hugs. 💕

      Victoria Thanks so much following me on this journey! It is a learning process! All sorts of things that I never expected! I will have a total of 3 chemo sessions but with very high doses. They are particularly toxic chemical hence the rapid hair loss etc. following the chemo I will have 5 sessions of brachytherapy ( internal radiation) My next video will be much more fun! Loosing the hair and cutting it short! Thanks for your continued support!!!😘🎨

    Hi Karen, How did you do after your 3rd treatment of Taxol & Carboplatin? Next Thursday I have my 3rd treatment. My hair was coming out so yesterday I got it cut off in a bob. Next step will be buzz cut. Thank you for all that you do. You are Amazing!

      Hi Sara! I am so sorry that you are facing this choice. Even though it is not pleasant to go through, I would highly recommend you reconsider. I have had two recurrences as the type of cancer I have (Uterine Serous carcinoma) is extremely aggressive. I have gone through chemo twice (with all the side effects). However, almost 4 years after my first diagnosis, my latest PET scan shows NO EVIDENCE OF DESEASE! You CAN do this! I wish you all the best. Please check out my later videos showing my recovery.

      I am dealing with a recurrence and instead of IV Benadryl, they gave me oral tablets of Benadryl and I had no reaction.

    Sounds like we were on similar schedules. Except mine was for stage 2 breast cancer.
    I can't take zofran, it gives me a headache that lasts 3 days. My doctor gave me compazine and scopolamine patches. Patches are great on days when you can't keep anything down.
    My chemotherapy was on Thursdays. Fridays I just felt weak and achy. Saturdays were when all the side effects hit.
    Did they give you Neulasta?

    • @ARTbyKDR
      @ARTbyKDR  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did not get Neulasta but my side effects of nausea bone pain etc kicked in about the same time as yours did. I am now dealing with a recurrence-after almost 2 years NED and will start chemo again soon. Wishing you the best.

    Can you tell me if the neuropathy went away? Im also an artist and if its the one last thing I will grieve almost more than my hair is my sense of touch in my fingers.

    • @ARTbyKDR
      @ARTbyKDR  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      HI Kathy! Since I made this video I have had 2 recurrences. I initially had 3 rounds of chemo and came away with neuropathy mostly in my toes. After my first recurrence, I wen through 6 rounds of chemo (also Taxol and Carboplatin) but I did use cold packs on both my feet and my hands (see some of my more recent cancer videos). It kept the neuropathy from getting worse but almost 3 years after my first diagnosis I still have it in my feet. Luckily I did not get it (except for one thumb) in my hands and the thumb has gotten better. I wish that I had done the cold therapy with the first rounds of chemo as I do believe it helped. I got my booties and gloves for cold therapy from Amazon. Good luck on your journey. By the way the hair does grow back. The first 9 months very curly but then it went back to my normal straight hair.
