Mikey, you should make a video just going through all of the stuff on the tackle wall behind you and just shoot the bull about all the baits back there.
Nice ! Bangorang those drop shot eaters!I agree on scented baits!love those keitecs and the easy shiners are 💣! Just got smashed on the okashira head and the pro blue red pearl is the juice!
In this vein, tho, Grady's GloStik, the old do-nothing Zoom Centipede, in waterlogged Chartreuse pepper, on a Carolina rig is still king for BIG spots in winter.
I use the same size soft plastics you showed in the video and catch quite a few fish on it. They are deadly in the right situation. Thanks for the coverage, I don't see anyone else talking about these smaller soft plastics.
A Zoom finesse worm on a ⅛oz. Spider Slider head has won many, many winter tournaments here on the Lower Coosa. Watermelonseed or smoke purple if it's clear and junebug, black, or chartreuse pepper (waterlogged, of course) if it's dirty. That DIAGONAL FALL is where it's at. BANG makes 'em hang on.
It's not cold there, it was 9 degrees in NY this AM 45 degree water Thanksgiving weekend latest we got out was Jan 2nd last year 38 degree water my friend caught 2 smallies on a hair jig
Mikey you should check out baits from Great Lakes Finess especially the drop minnow. I've caught all species on it, even a 11 inch bluegill, and lots of quality smallmouth bass. The Candian boys know about cold water fishing
Haha...No Joke it's full send winter! I'm on Bull Shoals Lake Arkansas where we're typically pretty mild (or at least IMO having grown up in NW Indiana on Lake Michigan) but damn it's cold today! Been fishin Damiki rigs for smallies on the bluff walls in this cold and it's been bang up! Those 3" shadimpacts are great DS baits as well! Loving the Stumpys from Netbaits also...great winter jig bait and drop shot also. They float too so they stay perfectly horizontal in the water the way a Damiki should
That’s not true. I actually catch a lot of dinks in the winter time. I completely agree with you about the part of no one being around and it being peaceful though.
I guess I'm lucky because our waters are still around 65 or so. A stickbait worm is certainly still getting those pigs right now. But a fluke, especially that jr. fluke, has really been killer lately too.
Great video bro, as usual. Any suggesting for a lake I fish in winter. Its heavily pressured and water seldom drops below 60°F.. I started a craze after using a black fluke and coming second in a comp after not fishing the lake for 6 years. Now they will hardly touch black!
Mikey, great vid brother! Check out the Fin-s shad & Fin-s fish from Lunker City. Also the Z-man Trick Shotz is pretty bad-assed. Also check out Lunker City's VGB dropshot hook it's legit as well. Take care brother.
Being that it’s the winter time how do you feel about doing a video on how you make a video for your followers? Like you equipment your editing techniques and so on.
You skate? You gotta try that zero gravity jig with an EZ swimmer trailer in the cold. Extremely slow fall, and the fish cant resist. Yellow zero gravity, red ear EZ.
I am strugglin' to figure out these winter pond bass, but we're still at it and I appreciate the tips Mikey! 🙏🎣 When all else fails, I fall back on the ol' trout magnet and crappie nib for some panfish and a dink or 2; whatever it takes to kick the skunk! 💪😂🦨
Bass Are cold blooded creatures, so their metabolism slows down in the winter time so they don’t have to feed as much as they do in the summer. They’re just not biting.
@@slowjamcdub I'm aware that there will be far fewer bass that are actively feeding in the winter due to their metabolism slowing down, but they never stop feeding entirely; just harder to find fish that'll bite and figure out the right presentation for 'em. 🤷
thats basically my go to during the winter for pond hoppin, or a 2.4 inch swimbait on a basic crappie jig. im in indiana and all of our ponds are generally stocked with gizzard shad as baitfish for the bass, the only thing they eat are jigs, neds, and minnow sized soft plastics. if they wont any of that, i just go home. lol.
@@tagg946 we're a bit more bluegill-heavy around my area for forage (IL, greater St Louis area), so I may just be throwing the wrong color of grubs, little bitty flukes, and hard jerkbaits; I've even been blanking on ned rigs and drop shots lately, so it could just be poor timing/color selection on my part 🤷
Great stuff homez! I like those little worms on a finesse jig, I just get frustrated throwing them out I.n The open water without having live scope! I would use that sh!t for sure! Steady rippin🎣
Do they call it winter in Georgia and Florida or is it just raining season and dry season like the other tropical or close to tropical areas ? … I’m just teasing as it’s already hard water time in some of the bass nation
More great tips Mikey thanks. In South Florida I find I catch too many dinks with smaller soft plastic baits. Do you have the same issue? By the way, you have to come down to Headwaters. You can still fish in shorts 😉
I'm an urban small man-made pond Bass fisherman. Had pretty good luck with the OSP Dolive Stick earlier in the year. But since it's been cold the last month or so these small ponds are rather shallow and the water gets cold fast, so the bite has pretty much shut off for now.
One thing skateboarding got that fishing needs to take notice is the clothes. Skateboard clothes are so much cooler and creative then fishing companies clothing.

Gyb shad shape worm nose hook drip shot. Also easy shiners nose hooked.

I do quite well on a shakey head and ned in the winter here in the mid Atlantic.
Great info.
I believe these small minnow type lures would also be good for crappie. Thanks for showing all those examples and diffences.
Living right by lake lanier you just spilled all my winter ditch fishing juice. Magnum spotted bass love these baits.
Great work and presentation!!!

Good content, Mikey! And I always love seeing the Bog dog!
Thanks Joe!

I discovered the Keitech shad impact the fall but it the 6” on a sale rack. It’s my new absolute favourite as a Jackhammer trailer. You gotta try it

Great recomendation!
Those maxscent Flatworms are a straight killer on smallmouth. If you can't find em the Flatnose minnow is a perfect substitute.
Big Joshy swimbaits are great in cold water awesome colors.
Favorite time to fish for me is dec thru march. Its great
Mikey, Yet another great educational video. Like how you get right to the point, finally someone who understands bait profiles. Keep them coming.
👊
Check out the Erie darter by poor boy baits, can drop or even light t-rig em

That's awesome so this is right up your alley.
Yeah those minnow bait look like good mini max trailer too come late winter
Berkeley does make a maxscent flat nose minnow as a flatworm alternative. That said, again no transparent colors, but a good shape.
I love winter fishing no one on the lake good time to find structure I usually catch only a few fish a day but the ones you catch aren't dinks

Zman Streakz 3.75 in Smokey Shad Awesome!
Damn Mike! You “ Pro Bass’n” me on this topic love it dude.
🤣
I like all the baits @ uses most of them thanks for the info..
Great information Mikey. Thank you for sharing 👍
Mikey nothing beats a light jig in the winter ! 1/8 -1/4 ! Smashed them in 30° water before !
get some big bites playing that game too!
I guess I'm lucky because our waters are still around 65 or so. A stickbait worm is certainly still getting those pigs right now. But a fluke, especially that jr. fluke, has really been killer lately too.

Maybe try a hair jig sounds a lot like Florida waters and they love that thing during the winter
Nice! Been a staple of mine for years. And they don't just work in cold water. These are ledgeit. Yes, I said it. Ledge it...
Awesome stuff I spoke on the Zman streakZ couple weeks ago this really works in my area as well Love this vid takes it deeper on the subject
