    Yay! You cut up your euphorbia ghost.
    You cut it in all the right places.
    Im sure it will dry quickly ( a week or so) and then you can start it in a new pot with new soil.
    The window sill is fine to leave unless the sun is directly burning it.
    Remember not to over water in the next month or so.
    I'd only do a light spray of the first 2 inches to encourage root growth and then let soil dry out....before spraying again.
    Add a bit more pumice or perlite to your cacti mix if you are concerned about root rot.
    Did you find out what the browning is?
    Looks like a fungal infection or sunburn.
    I will do some research for you.
    Jo from New 🇳🇿 Zealand.
    I tend to spritz my succulents, even in summer as fully watering them causes rot.

    Hi! So, I was having the same issue with my P. melanochrysum. Every leaf would get stuck and mine was in high humidity (90-100%). I read somewhere where someone suggested that the leaves get stuck like that when its growing too fast under too much light. I put mine under a bit of shade and all leaves after than never got stuck. Hope this helps 🌱🤘💚

    Hey! Just wanted to let you know in case you didn’t, that milky substance in Euphorbia can be incredibly toxic for humans and pets- it can leave you with permanent visual impairment or otherwise as well so please be ver careful and wash up! Also a good note to pass along to others. 💕
    Edit: also I bet u already know this as you used to have that giant one- just putting it out there for everyone!

    I SO get the urge to rescue the stuck 🐛 leaves! Something I've found that works great is a dampened Q Tip. This helps prevent damage and keeps me from forcing it too much. If the q tip can't get it out, it's not ready (at least that's what Intwll myself so I don't keep going at it lol)

    When a new leaf is stuck like the Silver Sword baby leaf try a round chopstick. Just push the chopstick through where the leaf is separating. Then gently roll the stick forward with one hand and with the free hand help to pull the leaf away slowly bit by bit as the chopstick moves forward. The chopstick is soft wood and works more gently than a tweezer. Use o my a round chopstick, not one with corners or squarish,

    What a beautiful euphorbia 😍 mine lives outside during the summer. I had just repotted it & the next day we had a hurricane and a tree branch fell on the table it was on, causing it to launch and brake 😭 I just threw it all back into the pot & they all survived, even the bits that broke off!

    Your euphorbia ghost will be fine in the window sill, I wouldn’t blast it with light while it’s callusing over. Make sure to pot it up in something small as the roots on those stay quite small. I used a little bamboo stake to keep mine upright while the roots were developing ☺️

    The milky substance is the plant's sap, some get irritation from it so be careful when handling 💌 I I recommend using blades (like those razor replacements) when chopping up cacti since they are much thicker ++++ its recommended to get a clean cut when doing so :)

    Your Verrucosum is making me so excited to see mine grow. I got a cutting a while ago with a sad leave but started rooting it in leca. It's very well rooted now and is putting out a new leaf. I'll pot up once that leaf unfurls and I can't wait. 😍

  • @averilt
    @averilt 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I always spritz any new emerging leaves with water as often as i can and they don't get stuck anymore. You have to imagine in the wild they're getting rained on constantly so the humidity and moisture helps them emerge from the petiole easily.

    • @averilt
      @averilt 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not just once or twice a day, I legit leave the spray bottle next to my philos and just mist the new leaves every time I walk past. And if they're still stuck, which is rare, a soaking wet q-tip really helps release it without damaging it =)

    How often are you watering your Euphorbia? Because you don’t leave that dry. I water mine as soon as the soil dries. Only time I hold off on watering is when they are dormant during winter. Of course for them to go dormant they would need to be outside and “feel the cold”. Then I bring them in place them somewhere (they do not need sun during that time) and water maybe one a month. Since you have yours inside water like normal. Also no light needed while they callous.

    Ok, I'm not sure how helpful this is at this point, possibly something to look up for the future. I got an old, huge, crazy looking cactus off of FB marketplace that ended up being an opuntia monocantha (still a guess) and I thought it was dead because of the tan discoloration on the bottom portions of the cactus, but I found some pictures of cactus 'corking', which look similar, and the top of the cactus is popping out new growth under a grow light so I figure it's not dead? Maybe take a look and see if other cacti like yours go through the 'corking' process and if it might be that? Love your videos!

    Ghost cactus - I didn't think the roots had any disease and thought it might be that the soil was too porous/loose and prevented the water from staying around the roots to give them enough time to absorb the moisture. From my experience, cacti often need finer soil for water absorption (to the point of using sand-like consistency). I would keep even the browned part and try rooting.

    Your Dragon Scale is amazing. Are the verricosum leaves naturally shiny? I love hearing your thought process of what to do such as with the euphorbia. I would have done the same as you ultimately decided. Enjoy watching; thanks for sharing.

      I had just taken it out of the shower, that's why it was so shiny! it's usually not lol, it's more "silky" if that makes sense.

    Maybe the euphorbia needs a bit more water? Mine needs a surprising amount to do well and grow “leaves” (although not same species as yours) 🤷‍♀️

    Just wanted to give you a heads up, in my experience jewel alocasia tend to grow much smaller foliage once outside a cabinet. My black velvet put out an 11 inch leaf while in mine, but the second I brought it out it went back to the usual 5-6 inch leaves :(

    • @kameronwilkes6929
      @kameronwilkes6929 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe I didn’t acclimate it well enough, but she’s been doing fine. Just as I mentioned much smaller new growth.

    Hello Fern 👋
    Your videos make my day! 😊
    Philodendron Verrucosum is a plant I must have!! After doing some research I see there are several varieties but yours is the type that I want. It’s so beautiful and the leaves are so shiny and vibrant. Do you happen to know the variety?

    • @wildfern
      @wildfern  2 ปีที่แล้ว
