- Hi. I'm HelloGreedo. I think Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace is the best Star Wars prequel.
I wrote a book! It's called "Sorry About The Mess". Check it out here: www.amazon.com...

I feel calm watching greedo, he just feels like a big brother I can go to when I'm stressed or sad.
Especially when you consider what a pain in the ass most ‘Star Wars’ fans are. His feelgood videos are always refreshing.
@@stormtraitor6545 ughhh.... Tell me about it.
Yay! New HelloGreedo video! Every time you remind me we grew up in the same area I wonder what could have been...

Hey Alex.
@@darthcaradhras55 woot MI Star Wars homies for life.
I was 16 when The Force Awakens came out, It interesting time to be a Star Wars fan with all the speculation and theories.
Never forget: Darth Jar Jar
@@fdsajfldaskjf I DARTH JAR JAR THEORY AND THEORIES IN GENERAL!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry I have to scream it
Théories in general suck
@@fdsajfldaskjf lol remember he was Kylo Ren or that the rogue one crew were going to become the Knights of ren.
Can't believe it was almost 6 years ago! Still feels so fresh, with all the controversies and outrage, generally was the best time to be a Star Wars fan. Anybody remember the theory which suggested Luke is Kylo Ren? People don't like to talk about that anymore :D
In the phantom menace game, I remember hiding in the vents then walking into a fan and getting chopped into pieces. Traumatizing. Lol
Lol
I remember that too. The thing that traumatized me was the final level having to make all those damn jumps on the platforms. Save. Jump. Die. Reload. Over and over for hours...lol. I wish I could play that game again.
Id go so far to say Episode 1 has made a bigger positive impact compared to episode 7. It was new, fresh, nostalgic. I dont feel the same way about the new trilogy.
I was 8 when TPM was released and it was straight up MADE FOR ME.
I will never forget the lead-up and aftermath of that movie. Walking around the neighborhood with my friends, digging through all our neighbors’ recycling bins searching for Pepsi ONE and Mountain Dew cans to complete our collections. Taco Bell, KFC, Pizza Hut. The POG board promo. Sebulba Kooshs. Those chunky as frick plastic character cup toppers (drinking out of Boss Nass’ head). Annoying my extended family with explanations of how amazing it was that my some of my Star Wars action figures could now swivel their elbows. My Obi-Wan Halloween costume with the clip-on Padawan braid. I can only imagine the odds ‘3PO would list off concerning the chances of that marketing campaign ever being matched by another movie again.
I’ll also never forget how I felt when I heard my cool older cousin make fun of TPM.
I couldn’t understand what was wrong with Jar Jar and podracing, or why he didn’t care that the opee sea killer, colo claw fish, and sando aqua monster were things with names! (The bookfair that year was my introduction to supplementary lore material).
I never want to make another fan feel that way about something they’re excited about, even if I’m unable to match their excitement.
I think there’s value in discussing elements of the fandom that challenge us and I enjoy hearing other people’s point of view, but the conversation doesn’t lead anywhere when people choose to begin and end on “X sucks”.
“Everyone” hated the Ewoks. Then “everyone” hated the Special Editions. Then “everyone” hated the Prequel trilogy. Then “everyone” hated Ahsoka and the Clone Wars. Then “everyone” hated Rebels. Then “everyone” hated the Sequel trilogy. Then “everyone” hated The High Republic.
Time and time again, those people tend to grow up, move on, get bored, or die off. All that remains is how we engage with the story that's presented to us. Love what you love about Star Wars and let others do the same. Keep the fandom luminous. Star Wars is a huge freaking buffet and it just keeps on growing. Load up your plate the way you want, then let the next person in line do the same.
Luke only won once he lowered his blade.
Thanks for this video!
These movies are such instrumental treats. Scores like Take Off, Droid Battle, Droid Fight, Battleship Destroyed and Duel Of The Fates make the scenes in this movie exciting and memorable. I can say the same for the other two.
I think you might like the SW playlist I've put together! I haven't gotten around to the prequels or CW scores yet, but I've got everything else in here. I listened to the entire soundtracks for the movies and handpicked the ones I like the most (so it'll be a little subjective). open.spotify.com/playlist/6y4rLbBfJv0deapHnUZqxk?si=TxdrOIIRRhKS14XV5B6G4w&dl_branch=1
Its underappreciated for sure and its the one im most nostalgic about
I just started watching the prequels for the first time as an adult instead of relying on memes and a kids perception of a half remembered movie
Vastly better than I expected
Immediately seeing jedi at the height of their power and a young Obi Wan is a brilliant hook. My only real complaints are Jar Jar and Maul having little screen time
I have a longer parahraph review of it, if anyone's interested
Lucas' 20-year break from directing movies really hurt him as a filmmaker. He was never good with dialog but a lot of his ideas are gold. You can really feel him getting his groove back with Revenge of the Sith.
Rots had awful direction lol
thank you... greedo. Just thank you, whenever I make this argument I get hated on so badly
I definitely feel like it's the prequel that still has the spirit of the OT.
We can make fun of senate scenes all we want, but the fact is that the scenes never lasted nearly as long as we remember.
I can't wait for 10 years time when kids who grew up with the sequels get this nostalgic about those movies
I’m already nostalgic for The Force Awakens. It was the first new SW movie I saw in a theater, so it brings back great memories for me!
@@louis1272 same lol
the last jedi will be beloved (more than it already is) in 10 years. TROS not so much.
@@eighteen-naked-cowboys I am so curious about how I'll feel about TRoS in 10 years. I hated it instantly and even spent the following year writing a treatment on how it could have been halfway decent. But by 2030, idk I'll probably have chilled out on it. Whether it's just because I'll be in my 30s or my kids will probably like it. Or maybe I'll just be completely neutral on it lol
@@louis1272 It was the same for me The Force Awakens was the FIRST Star Wars movie I saw on theaters.
I'm 30 and I missed the prequel hype because I've never seen SW back then. I discovered them on college and immediately fell in love. I was so hyped for sequels and they blew it, so now I only watch first 6 and rather pretend they're not here
I actually *was* 13 when The Force Awakens came out and I still remember walking out of that theatre, my mother asking "Did you think it was good?" and me quietly going "Yeah" while inside my head I was like "What the hell are Disney doing with Star Wars" XD
I was 13 years old when the TFA came out and it was an experience. I felt at that age I could properly appreciate story beats, the music & such alongside the childhood nostalgia. Now that I am 18, I fully recognize the things I like or dislike about each new film, but my love for Star Wars hasn't wavered in the slightest.
Same brother. How this guys sees TPM, is how I see TFA, so nostalgic already. I remember being so excited to see the sequels and was so dissapointed in them
@@barkley8285 I actually really liked TFA, loved TLJ and heavily disliked TROS. Albeit, I found their collective story-telling lacking, individually, TFA & TLJ are great to me.
Yeah TFA is my favorite
@@MattWinchell TFA was average, nothing more. Just EP4 copy-paste. TLJ was complete dogshit, and TROS is the worst movie I have ever watched in my life.
I grew up with the prequels/tcw but seeing how poor they handled luke pissed me off. The sequel story after EP6 is leia rebuilding the republic and luke restoring the jedi, both of which happened inbetween 6-7 for some reason. In a sense, mandalorian is more of a sequel to the OT than the actual sequel movies are lmao. What a disgrace those movies were.
@@barkley8285 I couldn't disagree more, but it's your opinion. Have a good day!
I love the amount of crappy old Phantom Menace merch on the internet that people thought would be worth a lot of money. Something about it is funny, but also warm and nostalgic. I wasn't even old enough to remember it, but I still love it
Attack of the Clones, despite all the hate this movie is getting for the weird dialogues is actually one of my favorite prequel movies.
I just love travelling from Coruscant to Naboo. From Kamino to Geonosis. When watching this movie, I really feel like I'm on a road trip in the Star Wars galaxy and I like that !
Great video btw !
The only parts of that movie that I don't really think were that great was when it was just Anakin and Padme on Naboo. Even then, it's alright.
But besides that, everything with Kenobi and the clones, Coruscant, Anakin and Padme traveling, and Geonosis is such a great time. I think the mystery of the clones and the foreshadowing of sideous' plot was also really weaved in nicely
Even as a kid I didn’t care about this movie, now it’s just worse. The best part about EP2 was the micro series and the 3D show.
@@al112v4 I love this movie, and I even prefer it to episode 1. However, episode 3 is my favorite of the prequels, and of the whole Star Wars saga.
@@obi-wankenobi2188 EP1 is still the better one. EP3 was a slightly better version of 2.
@@al112v4 EP3 is the Star Wars where I cried the most. And it is the best directed George Lucas movie. The movie is very dramatic and moving. There is a lot of length in EP1, even if all the political side is exciting, the pod race and the fight with Darth Maul are among the best scenes of the saga. And about Jar-Jar, I don't mind him. I really like EP2 because we start to see the cursed couple Padme and Anakin, the beginning of the dark side of Anakin, the battle of Geonosis is very good, the attacks and the investigation of Obi-Wan on the clones.
I think Revenge of the Sith is the best Star Wars prequel but that’s just me 😁
Me too
I think it's more than you.
I agree its the best no question
Not just you... almost everyone thinks ROTS is the best of the prequels lol...
I don't agree, but I respect your opinion.
HelloGreedo, you are definitely one of the best Star Wars TH-camrs around man. I love how you're passionate about Star Wars and that you love every aspect of it, including the Sequels. I have been watching your channel for a good while now. Keep up the great work sir. 👍
Dude, I love your videos so much. You have the best Star Wars community
I’ve been following you since you started this channel and this is by far my favorite video you have ever done. I have such a big smile on my face right now, thank you!!
The first movie to start each trilogy of the Skywalker succeeded in the ways they needed to. All brought a sense of excitement and desire for more. Merchandise brought a sense of collecting and belonging. The later films would create divide in the fan base, but would deepen the mythology of the characters and the last movies of each trilogy brought the wonder of where will Star Wars go next. No doubt we have our favorites and opinions, but Star Wars will continue to give something we can all appreciate about the ever evolving galaxy that makes us escape and question our reality.
What a nice sentiment … huzzah
In 2015, I was still in high school and watching The Force Awakens. Was basically the first Star Wars movie I remember seeing. Eventually thanks to the Star Wars high I was going through. I eventuality remembered I saw The Clone Wars in theaters; its a fuzzy memory of a theater going experience
Nowadays it’s almost nostalgic when I see someone in a comment section hating on the prequels 😂
Get ready for some nostalgia, because I… do not like these movies…
… except Phantom Menace. That’s the good one.
I didn’t know Obi Wan had turned into Imhotep from The Mummy
Lmfao
Memes made these movies retroactively better.
Facts. Last year when Quarantine happened and The Rise of Skywalker came out Digitally I rewatched the entire Saga up to the rise of Skywalker and I was able to realize how Meme golden The Phantom Menace was. I think the movie could've been a lot better but the memes help it.
Not anymore. Prequel memes have just been the same five jokes for years now.

And we know Palpatine's real name must be Frank your majesty
As someone who did see TFA in theaters when I was 14, the hype was absolutely real. That and TLJ still bring me a lot of joy (TROS less so). I guess I'm in the minority with my generation because I'm not the biggest fan of the prequels as movies, even though there is good stuff about them. Happy to see a new vid!!
The Prequels are masterpieces
Revenge of the Sith is the best Star Wars movie
I can always count on you to help me return to course after dealing with a lot of star wars hate
Yeah it gets tiring
I really agree. The Phantom Menace had the most charm out of the three prequel films. It was the most consistent and revolved around one event. The other two got far more messy with their plots and relied less on practical effects and more on cgi. Although I agree the Phantom Menace is still a flawed film, I enjoy good portions of the film. I especially think that the Clone Wars has helped me appreciate the film even more overtime. That final duel has so much more at stake because of the events it causes in the Clone Wars. Overall, I'd say that the Phantom Menace is a guilty pleasure. A film I can enjoy while acknowledge it's many faults. I don't think it is a good film overall, but one that did the most right out of the three prequel films. It felt the most like Star Wars of those three.
You're 100% right. It actually felt like a film.
Only 2 years after OT Special Editions and I remember feeling magic in the air. Star Wars was more alive than ever🤩 It was a good time for a Star Wars fan. This video is PURE Nostalgia
I was literally just thinking about when you'd next upload! I just finished re-watching your Despecialised video and wanted some more!
Love your stuff!
I was also 13 when Phantom Menace came out but never saw it until 2005 in my college dorm room. Even then, it made me nostalgic for 1999.
Despite hearing a lot of bad things, I actually liked it. The worlds like Naboo and Coruscant showed great imagination. I'm sure I would have loved it even more had I seen it when I was 13.
I may not like Episode 1 but I can understand and see why many liked it. Felt like a safe way to start a new trilogy similar to how Force Awakens did.
What I loved most about The Phantom Menace is the generally bright and vibrant color pallet, when compared to the darker greys and color schemes from the OT.
You're not kidding about the hype. It was so real, I went out of my way to get Pepsi One just for the characters on the cans. My mother even bought a talking Jar Jar Binks doll/alarm clock. I still miss my Darth Maul Sith Lord shirt, but it probably wouldn't fit so well now.
So much merch back in the day and I'm pretty sure the only thing that survived is that doll, though it's probably in storage somewhere.
Jar jar stepping in poopoo is pog.
Lol
I worked the projectors at a movie theatre when Ep.1 came out and "had" to screen the movie twice before it came out to the public. Maybe that's the reason I agree, Ep.1 is my favorite prequel/sequel movie.
Hey man. Great vid. This brought the nostalgia for sure. I was only two or three years old when it came out, but I remember my parents taking me to see The Phantom Menace when it came out. I’m pretty sure it was the first movie I ever saw in the cinema? It also brought back memories of when I was a college freshman and The Force Awakens came out, and the whole hype cycle for it (that’s when I found this channel too). I know we all have various opinions on the sequel trilogy, but it was a fun time. Anyway, thanks for the quality videos and have a great day!
As someone who was 13 years old when The Force Awakens released, you're right about that feeling when it came out, that feeling from back in 2015 was amazing.
Was this ever a question? 😊
I saw TPM first then I saw Jedi, A New Hope and then Empire last. Weird order but hey. My very first Star Wars toys were the Qui-Gon electronic lightsaber and the deluxe Darth Maul and Obi-Wan figures. I recently bought a lovely Episode I Darth Sidious figure and, wow, it still holds up today 👌
Plus, this film has Qui-Gon and Maul in it and gave us Duel of the Fates. Good times. GOOD times ✌️
3:47 I experienced a very similar scenario to this at my school, I saw a teacher and a student talking about their thoughts on The Rise Of Skywalker only a month after it came out and the many flaws that it had such as pacing, the opening scene, etc.
The best is Ep3 but good for you and screw those who think is the worst.
Ep3 > Ep1 > Ep2, even though I loved Ep2 as a kid due to the emergence of the clones.

"THE PHANTOM MENACE IS THE BEST STAR WARS PREQUEL"
... well, personally, I agree.
I was 15 when it came out and everybody by and large loved it where I was. I can remember the old Pizza Hut ad on television with all the white skinny droids on the hills of naboo.
I grew up with both the PT and the OT (And both Clone Wars shows) and I always viewed them as the full story before the ST came out. I was about 13 when the Disney takeover occurred and I remember jumping around the house extremely excited after my dad told me they were making new Star Wars movies. I remember a lot of the adults around me (Mostly my teachers and some people from my church) being kind of wary. I remember one of them legitimately being afraid that "Episode 7 is gonna be made into some kid-friendly Disney musical". It's laughable to me now but as a 13-year old that fear rubbed off on me because of course, it did. Then, a few years later, when episode 7 came out I went into it with absolutely zero expectations. And because of that, I was able to enter the movie with an open mind. After seeing it remember heading back home with my dad and older brother and we were all theorizing what would happen next. There was no anger or vitriol. There was no hatred. Just a peaceful discussion amongst the family over what the next installment might bring. And then I got home and had the ever-so-smart idea to see what people online were saying and that was fucking mistake. Then I watched The Last Jedi. Same shit. Went in, with zero expectations. Fucking loved the entire movie while I first saw it and then when I got home I did the same shit. Went online and this time the hatred was worse. Fuck. People REALLY don't like this one. Fast forward a few more years, Rise of Skywalker comes out. At this time, I'm now 18 and only a semester away from graduating High School. I, a prequel fan, have gone through my entire high school career alongside the sequel trilogy at this point. I watched the movie. Enjoyed it. Kinda wished (And kinda still do wish) that Anakin would have appeared as more than just a voice though. At this point, I had begun to stop caring about the hatred. I just wanted the complaining to stop and The Fandom Menace was the primary source of the rage. After some months in quarantine, I had purged them from my recommendations. That's actually when I resubbed to your channel again. And then we arrive at the present. I'm now working a job because I decided to not go to college (Just wasn't for me). I've started reading through the EU which I have never done before and it's pretty decent. Not groundbreaking by any means just some good stories and all. I've effectively reached the point of "I'll enjoy Star Wars how I damn well please and you can shove your 'canon' up your ass. My head-canon is how I choose to enjoy SW."
Edit: Fuck I didn't mean to write a whole essay holy shit I guess I just needed to get this out.
@Tom Ffrench Like, they keep trying to argue that they don't like the films because of "identity politics" but really the only politics in TLJ is the whole Canto Bight scene, and most people I know considered that scene to just be more boring. Tbh, I just didn't like that they rescued those space horses and not, I don't know, the slave children Rose was complaining about?
@Tom Ffrench "Oh no, I'm not brave enough for politics."
I've been watching some videos on Toys R Us midnight toy releases. Tons of people were lined up and ready to go inside. It was like a store in Disneyland. Flooded with Star Wars TPM toys and merch. While I wasn't born in '99, those videos made me smile.
My dad actually worked at an office supplies company that was making phantom menace school supplies, so he got to bring home all kinds of cool new stuff we had never seen before
Return of the King
It is Star Wars not lord of the ring. I just kidding
I was literally a 13 ywar old in 2015 hyped for the force awakens lmfao
I was 4 or 5 five years old when I watched The Phantom Menace on VHS. And I remembered just falling in love with it. It was my introduction to the Star Wars franchise. I loved the world-building, the lightsaber battle with Darth Maul, Qui-Gon as a character, and relationship with Anakin and his mother. And believe it or not, I think the moments with Anakin and Padme are more believable than in the next two films. But my favorite scene of all was the Pod Race scene. And Jar Jar doesn't even bother me. And this film also has more use of practical effects than in the next two films. I can go on and on about this film, but The Phantom Menace will always hold a soft spot in my heart as the first Star Wars movie I ever watched on VHS.
Ah I missed greedo's videos!
I think the phantom menace captures the feel of the original trilogy best of any of the prequels. Revenge of the sith is my favorite of the prequels just because its the least bad and it has some epic moments in it. But I understand the love for the phantom menace, it started a while new era of star wars.
Welcome back my friend...even though ya never really left
I remember 1999. I was only 8, but seeing Phantom Menace in the theaters was awesome.
The Phantom Menace feels authentic. The story and characters feel authentic. It doesn't give a shit about having a clear protagonist or having a focused plot. It doesn't care about killing off the cool looking antagonist. It doesn't feel studio formulated. And that's GOOD!
Yes, it can be a mess of a movie. Corny dialogue, not so engaging pace, no outstanding performances, outdated CGI... But it's a mess that we have gotten to know and appreciate for years, even learned to LOVE, despite all of its flaws. The music is fire though.
I just can't help but to look at TPM and instantly remember the good old days. Me as a kid rewatching the DVD and seeing it on 3D in the 2012 re-relase. I love this goddamn movie so much. And I wasn't even born when the movie came out!
It might sound weird, but every live action SW movie after The Phantom Menace has a weird glossy look to it. Maybe it's just because the CGI in TMP is shit, but it looks a lot less glossy (with the exception of Padme's ship of course) than both the sequels and the other two prequels. And I like that.
Yeah, it has that rustic look to it similar to the Original Trilogy. Really one of the main reasons I think it's the best of the prequels.
I got that game for christmas that year. I remember opening the side of the package so I could sneak play it on my ps2 but put it back before my parents got home.
I was 14 when TFA came out, and while I only really like TFA and TLJ, certainly not the rise of Skywalker, overall the sequel trilogy isn’t my favourite, but I’m still glad they exist other wise I wouldn’t have gotten to see a Star Wars film on the big screen, the hype for the force awakens was out of this world, I remember watching the trailers during class at school, it was great times, I’m thankful for those films and even if they aren’t that great together I will never forget how they made me feel in the theatre when I saw them
While the sequel trilogy definitely missed some opportunities, I too am still glad it exists, purely for the fact that it gave us Kylo Ren. He has gone on to be in my top five favorite Star Wars characters, and it wouldn't be the case if they weren't made.
I'm not sure why everyone was upset, there was podracing and a young Ewan McGregor, I was satisfied.
Maybe I'm insane but when I rewatched it a couple weeks ago the pod race was by far the most boring part
@@QWERTY-on7uh different tastes. I also say that I was like ten when I saw it
Unfortunately, I think most people had preconceived notions about what it would be and their expectations were to be as blown away as they were when they saw the originals.
What many forgot to take into consideration is that George Lucas wrote it all as on massive script and had to break it down and he chose 4 ,5, and 6 because he figured it would be easier to make on a smaller budget and that what became ANH had a begining a middle and an end. So if it failed he knew at least he had a complete story with no cliffhangers.
Furthermore, he also knew that those three were the ones that were most likely to appeal to kids, who he intended to market toys too.
The prequels were always going to be more political than action since it is about the the rise of Palpatine and the rise and fall of Anakin Skywalker.
I never expected it to too much like the originals and that's why I was never disappointed.
@@katherinealvarez9216 The podrace is mostly filmed from the right side. More scenes in the narrow desert tunnel and the camera angel from the cockpit of Anakin's Podracer used more throughout the sand arches would have been nice to have. Really would you give a sense of danger and adrenaline the other race entrant experience, too.
More variety, different overtaking maneuvers by other participants as well could add more excitement to the race. The number of laps was also too low for my liking.
There are ways to captivate the audience attention with more creative choices. Was the last time you saw TPM when you were 10 or did you find the podrace more engaging when you were ten (just okay compared to today/nowadays for e.g.?)?
@@999999SkyGuy I'm guessing. I could always rewatch TPM and see if my opinion has changed, but not on McGregor.

Love the nostalgia in this! Takes me back!
I was ready to slander the video on just the title alone, then I watched it. Well to turn a phrase... "I under estimated the power of HelloGreedo!". This is a good outlook on the Star Wars prequels, I don't think many people can get mad about hype.
Did that intro make anyone else super happy? :)
go into this movie with dialed down expectations from the original trilogy and you will be shocked.. it is a great adventure movie with an obvious star wars paint job. It may not be the best star wars movie but it is a great film imo.
I missed stand-alone videos. I usually don’t have the time to watch the streams but I try when I can
lol, I remember buying the soundtrack and seeing Qui-Gon's funeral on the track listing before the movie came out. 😂
And then there are some of us who just love new Star Wars content.
The first Star Wars movie I saw in theaters was RotJ. I was 5 and excited.
I was going on 21 when TPM came out and I was just as excited, and I loved it to the point I went to see it 7 times.
I was 36 when I first saw a teaser for TFA, and for the next year it was the number one topic I talked about. I went to a reopening screening the night before tge official opening and arrived an hour and a half early just so I could be the first one in.
Even now I find by Tuesday afternoon, I start getting anxious for the next episode of the Bad Batch.
I just love Star Wars. Are there thing I might have done differently? Yes, but the overall experience is fun, and that's why I watch Star Wars.
THATS IT! That’s the novelization I read! My Dad got it for me the summer it came out!
Loved it! I remember vague things that weren’t in the film. I need to find a copy of that one! - I’m back, I just ordered it on eBay.
Good to see you back m8
You are so right about the cycle of Star Wars fans. I can’t wait until the sequel kids grow up and can defend those movie because I know exactly what it’s like to be told you aren’t a real fan because you like “the prequels” or “the sequels”. It’s so annoying.
Completely agree. I was disappointed with a lot of things in the prequels but that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy them. Hate is a path to the dark side!! I do think the original vision in Phantom Menace with the mix of practical and CGI effects and John Williams score was the most "Star Wars" of all the prequels. I have probably watched the teaser trailer for Phantom Menace more than any other teaser trailer ever... still great even now.
Canada's legendary Victor Lucas (and Julie from The Real World) at 2:04. Also, the fact that you were 13 when TPM came out is making me feel really, really old. Like, 13 years older than you old.
God it was good to see a vid from you again mate! Been a fan since I was a kid and ironicaly, given that this vid is about nastalgia, I felt incredibly nastalgic hearing your voice, hearing the lofi music you use and your silly editing. Hope to see more again from you soon big man!
Hell not even 8 years that change of new fans is starting now on platforms like tik tok. Sequel Trilogy fans are beginning to have voices and its amazing.
Hahahaha hilarious intro, nice editing brother!
I saw it its first day of release here in the UK, leaving after it finished, we got to talking about it in the pub afterwards, Even then I felt it was more as a love letter to those old cinema serials (Like the 'Buster' Crabb Flash Gordon Buck Rodgers etc) than a stand alone good movie.
the more i think on it, i’m starting to agree. i was born after its release but something bout the phantom menace just sticks out more than clones and sith (i still love them both).
for whatever reason, Greedo's content isn't showing up on my homepage anymore, stumbled on this by accident and I'm a subscriber. Stupid youtube
2:15 THIS. i know the sequels weren't the best, but the unparalleled hype i got from being 12 years old and ending the year with the first Star Wars movie i got to watch on the theatre was just the best
I have the most nostalgia for episode 7 and rouge one episode 7 because I eat the first movie I ever saw opening night and rouge one because when I went to see it opening night it was a blizzard so we hardly left my neighborhood before my dad turned around so me my brother and friend ended up walking to McDonald’s in a blizzard almost got hit by a snow plow truck lol and the next morning when we went to see the movie my mom got the car stuck in the driveway thankfully we got out and saw the movie in time
Honestly its wild being an adult who never watched star wars as a kid and only got into it in 2015 when I was 19, I wonder if my opinions would be different…
Finally another video it’s been faaaaaaarrr to long my dude
I've said this for years. I was ten in 1983 so I rode the wave of hype the first time for Return of the Jedi. I've been defending Ewoks ever since.
I was 25 when TPM had its wave but make no mistake, I enjoyed collecting all the fast food premiums and toys with friends leading up to the film.
I was 42 for TFA and I rode that hype wave for probably the last time. The OT is my favorite trilogy by far but I think i celebrate the memories that TPM and TFA brought me more than those films in particular. I still love Darth Maul and Kylo Ren though...plus Ewoks.

@@obi-wankenobi2188you're certainly entitled to that opinion.
I still remember getting a Nintendo 64 bundled with Episode 1 pod racer and rogue squadron from a local Costco way back in the day, whenever I think about TPM I normally think about that part of my childhood.
As for the movie itself, I still don’t think it has aged well. Sure there are some chuckle-worthy moments thanks to meme culture but I still find the movie to be fairly dull to watch for the most part.
However, I do have a soft spot for it mostly due to my nostalgia for that specific era of Star Wars and my childhood. It reminded me of a time in which things were much simpler and less toxic.
Although it came out in 2000, Jedi Power Battles on Psone and Dreamcast was my favorite episode 1 video game.
When I revisited this movie two days ago, I was blown away by how well it holds up! In particular it succeeds as a prequel. Phantom Menace lives up to its full title of Episode I, delivering answers to questions we had from the originals (I.E. Why the Skywalkers are so powerful, How Obi-Wan first met Anakin, What was life like before the Civil War, How R2 and C-3PO came to be, how the Emperor rose to power, etc.), and fleshing out old plot points and adding new to the mythology. It's a genuine prequel, and although it feels radically different tone wise, it's a go-to guide on how to provide satisfying answers to old questions from an old work.
Besides, if history has shown us anything, there are much worse 'childhood destroying' movies out there. Cuties, anyone?

I missed you.
