Not only is this 12 hours, it's 12 hours of constant quality research, tid-bits, trivia, criticism, memes and well-written jokes, and actually making me want to watch the prequels again. A masterpiece TH-cam video.
@@ParkyTee0I don't know how others do it, but 90% of TH-cam videos I just listen to and don't watch. I can do this while working, or even at home while ignoring my loved ones
After seeing "brief" attached to a 12 hour video I clicked expecting a joke. Then I sat through all 12 hours without ever becoming bored for a second. What a fantastic and well researched video. Can't wait for more
Bloody hell, lads. I wrote a term paper over the course of a week, listening to this throughout the entire process. I didn't believe someone could actually fill a 12-hour video with quality content on a single movie, but I stand corrected.
This video makes me realize how much effort they put in developing the prequels. How complex is the story they were trying to tell. And how the audience realized how good these movies are only after diney showed what the real dark side is...
This video is absurd. The absolute depth of every single minute of it, the long digressions into engineering or other tangentially related fields, the breadth of sources drawn from. It's 12 hours long yet maintains the quality of a tight 10 minute video through every single second of it. An incredible feat that must have taken untold hours of study. Bravo.
@@Lafoyta No, this video 𝘪𝘴 absurd. It's 12 straight hours of scripted, narrated, and edited content about a fictional work that isn't even well liked.
@@keganmemestar4465 I like this universe, but yes, analyzing fictional facts on a serious face is a very dubious task, given that the creators themselves did not bother with this and were guided by the desire to make the best shot, plot armor or give a certain color of the sword to the actor at his request. It's like a stupid attempt to justify why the stormtroopers were cockeyed (the answer is obvious - they are the bad guys and the main characters must survive). Moreover, doing it for 12 hours, so I can agree here. At least you know how to use this word correctly 😄
Well, it's still quite a feat. It puts it into perspective all the effort he's made. No other channel really gets into the nitty-gritty. Nice to have it all in one video.@@EnderGraff1
@@EnderGraff1 There is 2 hours of new content, and I went through and remastered the audio of the older parts. There are plenty of changes. So many, I stopped keeping a log. The logistics of rendering this thing alone was a 10 day long ordeal. -ED-1TA
Yes, 12 hours is impressive. But not as impressive as how consistently, *mind-bendingly* well researched it is while being so long. I swear, if all of your actively discussed citations were listed on screen at any given time it be like staring into an elderscroll. You're an absolute madman and this is an absolute triumph. Stellar thesis, dude.
Fun fact: There’s a German TH-camr who started analyzing the first Harry Potter movie in 2015 and decided to always talk about exactly 5 minutes of it in her videos. She finished the project some weeks ago… every episode is about an hour long🥲
@@mirpbreit- she goes into as much detail as this guy does on every scene, probably significantly more even. And there are like 30 episodes each 1 hour long
Cool detail i noticed: A new hope starts with an ambassador ship running away from danger. The phantom menace starts with an ambassador ship flying INTO danger.
As a 12 hour watching experience, this is fantastic. As a part-time editor, this is making me sweat and shiver, just thinking about the size of the project folder and the amount of effort that went into it. Phenomenal job.
The most amazing part of all this is that you maintain the notion of using only information available at the time. you could’ve very easily used the clone wars and tales of the jedi and all that jazz as a reference but you stayed true to the time period and that’s so beyond impressive and respectable
Thank you! I'll admit that we do bring in later sources every so often, where it makes for an interesting comparison. Still, I do think it's worth pointing out what we knew at the time, especially for the younger generations of fans. If you rely on the wiki, a lot of that historical nuance can get lost. -DZ

8:25:31 "Any time you see a spaceship with bubble shields, it's probably not star wars." *Immediately cuts to sequel trilogy footage.* Probably my number one favorite moment in this video so far.
I have accidentally stumbled upon perhaps the best video on youtube. 12 hours of high quality analysis of a 2 hour and 16 minutes long movie. Interesting, unobtrusive and calming to listen to the narration. The depth of the information is both impressive and unbelievable as it must have took a very long time to create a masterpiece such as this. You represent the essence of star wars and 1.3M views on a 12h long video is proof that the star wars fanbase is very much alive. It's a wonderfull world full of mystery, the galaxy far, far away. There are a lot of people who love it, want to learn more about it and immerse themselves in it. You have given a star wars fan exactly what he was looking for. Top quality star wars content. And for that I thank you.
7:03:30 "If youre a star wars fan, this probably doesnt sound familiar, but it does remind me of a disney movie" One of the best lines in this whole thing lmao
8:15:20 I genuinely can't tell if he's knowingly ripping Disney a new one or if he is genuinely just giving them a best faith interpretation but it eviscerates Mandalorian 3 either way. He just finished going over how difficult it would be to make significant modifications to the N-1 as well as the range limitations of the N-1 Starfighter and how those limitations are accommodated for in the lore before assuming that in the Mandalorian the N-1 Starfighter was being mounted to the Razer Crest and used as a personal starfighter instead of as a replacement. Since obviously that is the best faith interpretation of how the N-1 would be handled. However, if he knows how it's actually used, him pretending to not know is actually biting commentary on the fact that it makes absolutely zero sense as a replacement for the Razer Crest. A bounty hunter using a single seat starfighter with a short range hyperdrive as his only means of long range transportation for himself, his adopted space baby, as well as prisoners and cargo is pure and total nonsense.
I'm going to be honest I watched the 30 seconds up to that line like 10 times and thought I just didn't understand what was going on. I kept watching and realized *That's the joke*
THAT'S WHAT IT IS. You said it perfectly, "A universe cannot only exist where the camera is looking" Disnold's Star Wars doesn't understand that there *is* a larger universe, that the plot needs grounding in a broader worldscape, and cannot stand on just flat characters who are only flat because there is no world to prop them up. Heck. Thank you so much for putting it into succinct words for me.
9:30:35 “darth maul spins and flips his way acrossed the hanger floor. This isn’t the fastest way to cover ground, but it looks better than bravely running away.” 😂😂😂 honestly had me in stitches
02:27:05 Little Ani - This section completely changed my perspective of a performance in a film I already grew up loving but like the rest of us was too quick to ridicule in my adolescence. What we collectively did to that child was an absolute tragedy far worse than the neglect his character received as part of the Jedi order. Jake Lloyd ❤
Glad to hear it! That's an interesting bit of feedback, and a better result than I would've dared hope for. Personally I was never too irritated with Little Ani, it was always his teenage form that I didn't enjoy. Still, that section wasn't consciously written to defend either Anakin or Jake Lloyd, so I'm pleased to hear it had that effect anyway. -DZ
I honestly think if he was made to be 11-13, that still would have been an acceptable compromise. Having Padmé mack on a boy so hard she intentionally stunts her growth is just...it's unintentionally icky. Not all kids are edgelords in their teens, and ffs we ended up doing that in 2 and 3 anyway. Hell, we knew Anakin had a grudge for his slave life as of AOTC. Having him express some of thar to Padmé during those private moments would have made Anakin more well rounded, regardless of his age.
@@USSMariner I think too he is just too young to have such a complex role, both IRL and in the movie. A few years more could have make him a more experienced and volonteer person, for the space battle for example, instead of a lucky genius, and having a better chemistry with Padmé. It's probably to set up his apprenticeship as a Jedi, and it was clear that Lucas wanted to gather a younger audience, but he's already too old at 9, so why not go all the way. Still, I was 10 when the movie came out, and always loved his character.
I think this is the kind of Star Wars fan Mike and Rich are always making fun of, prequel apologists and people who analyze every detail (woodoo hide, EmpPalSuRecon, etc.).

23:45 I think this may be another case of George trying to show us how docile and passive the Republic and the Jedi are at this point in the story. Republic citizens appear to call small to medium sized, non-battle worthy, ships "cruisers" because they can't really imagine an all out war after having a 1,000 or so odd years of peace. Republic classifications at this time are simply not the same as they are during the Clone Wars, under Palpatine, nor The Galactic Empire.

man, I love when people can share their knowledge in a condensed way, too bad we have only 5 more movies to go through like that, i wish they made more
At the end of the 1990s, in between "proper" (i.e. full-time) jobs, I was working as a cinema projectionist when the reels arrived for some film I'd never heard of called "She Stood Alone." Given the subject of this video, you can probably guess what it really was :) Distributors used to send out films under fake titles when they suspected they might be stolen if it was obvious what they were. So, Episode I will always be a little bit special to me because it's the only Star Wars film where I've been on the other side of the cinema experience: handling the celluloid, projecting it for audiences, popping into the screen during key scenes (to check the volume and focus, of course!) and seeing the reactions of audiences to experiencing it on the big screen. Let's just say they seemed to enjoy it well enough :) I was about 7 years old when I saw the original "Star Wars" (under that title, too, with none of your "Episode IV") in the cinema as a kid, and there's no doubt that kids of that same kind of age - the target audience - were swept up in it. The only people who were po-faced about it were 30-somethings like myself, who had seen the original trilogy when they were kids and so expected the prequel trilogy to be made for them rather than for the current generation of kids. Luckily, I never felt that disappointment with Episode I because I saw all the kids coming out of the screen, buzzing with Star Wars like I had done when I was their age. And that put a smile on my face.
Now that's a rare and exclusive experience! I know about the famous Blue Harvest working title, but I'd never heard one for TPM. Clearly someone had to have had a story like yours, I've always imagined how that might have played out. I have a slightly odd perspective in that I'm in between the eras of OT and prequel kids. It was always Episode IV: A New Hope to me, never Star Wars. Yet on the other hand, this was before the special editions or the prequels. At first I was content to watch VHS tapes and read novelisations of the OT, I was never motivated to see Episode 1 when it was brand new. After it was broadcast on TV, I liked it as much as the other movies, and was excited to see more. I looked forward to AotC, and talked the family into seeing RotS at the movies. For this channel, I was unsure how much I wanted to include the prequel lore. For the first videos, my default position was to prefer pre-prequel sources at every turn. As time went on, though, I came to realise that I truly do love the prequel trilogy. There are certainly more minor gripes I have with them, but on the whole I consider them to be an authentic part of the Star Wars setting and saga. -DZ
This is nice and all, but I was 15 and I hated it in 1999, and I hate it ever since. Please understand that. A LOT of things don't make sense, even after watching this AWESOME 12 hour analysis. I have a long-long list, but here are a few items: - The Neimodians plan to capture the queen and sign a "treaty" is nonsensical to an unbelievable degree. Even if the queen signs such paper, what would that worth in the eye of the Republic? They essentially put gun to her head, and no official agreement / contract is official if one party signed it under durress! Why does no one address this? - When they arrive again on Naboo, the blockade is no longer present. But why? It is never addressed in the movie. One would think that now they captured Naboo, they even double the blockade to keep any outsiders from interfering - so it being not present at all, makes no sense. - The droidekas conveniently vanish when Padme pulls the gun out of the throne armrest compartment. This is addressed in a throwavay fashion in this analysis - they sent them out since they don't need them to guard unarmed prisoners - but we don't see any evidence of that in the movie. As far as the viewer is concerned they should be still there. I remember being surprised at 15 at this - where did they go? Why couldn't we see a clever solution from Padme to defeat the Droidekas in the throne room? And of course we get this sentence in the analysis: "The battle droids were not given an order, so they don't react in time" - eehhh... even the analysis author admits that they were given the "guard the prisoners" order. Was that not enough? How can multiple seconds pass without a droid reacting to the prisoners getting guns? - The Jedi Council is painfully incompetent, to the point of sheer absurdity. After 1000 years, a sith has appeared, and they NEVER lend any help to Obi and Qui-Gon? They never send any more jedi knights to investigate this and assist them in the Battle of Naboo? Not ONE more? I don't want to create a wall of text, so I'll stop now, but these (and many other points) are never addressed by TPM proponents.
@@The_Peter_Channel I may be able to help with at least two of these. Firstly; The treaty was meant to be signed and then presented to the senate. The trade federation would present this a legitimacy of their occupation, as you have pointed out this is indeed a laughable affair. the entire senate already know that naboo is under occupation, that's why Qui-gon and Obi-wan go to naboo in the first place. Chancellor velorum had attempted to gain permission to send a jedi negotiator to settle what was then a mere blockade as a favour to his 'good friend' Palpatine. receiving either a denial or a delay to his request he calls in a personal favour from Qui-gon and provides him the radiant 7 we see at the start of the movie. the entire planet has been Blockaded for a few days already, meaning no ships may enter or leave naboo's atmosphere, the lugrehulks formation is to guard the 2 hyperspace entry/emergence points to enforce this. Palpatine's orginal plan involved the trade federation Presenting the forced treaty to the senate. Legally everything would be spakley clean, however the morality of the situation where the people of naboo are denied aid, locked up in camps, have their homes and land destroyed (if we go by the battle of naboo game) would make the senate very tense, naboo is a mid-rim world and a wealthy one at that, it would set a lot of worlds against the trade federation and raise a lot of sympathy for Palpatine in the senate as he no doubt would waste no opportunity to bring up his home world and its ongoing suffering. when Velorums term as chancellor is over, Palpatine has not only the sympathy votes but also the others attained through politicking, making him chancellor and allowing him to 'rescue' naboo. Not a bad plan and as breadcircus puts it 'Expertly improved' tl;dr It was meant to be seen as a joke, it was part of Palpatine's longer plan to become chancellor Secondly; When returning to Naboo the Lugrehulks had been reduced to a single highly modified Droid control ship. The Blockade fleet was meant to discourage entry to the naboo system (or escape, as we see) They assisted Nute gunray in deploying troops to Occupy the planet. When they had captured every star port or hanger there was no longer any worry about people leaving atmosphere. It only takes a week for any message on the sub-space network to reach anywhere in the galaxy. 'Naboo is closed' would have been broadcast since their blockade began and most freighters would not have wanted to fight with the trade federation to deliver cargo. Nute gunrays ship and droids stayed to keep the planet in line, the rest of the fleet returned to regular federation business as it only takes one control ship to control all of the droids. Thirdly; I have no idea for the droidekas. Fourthly; It does seem a bit silly, The councils decision is based upon the logic that maul wants to get to the queen. they wish to keep the conditions that drew him out the first time as similar as possible to draw him out again. Force users can sense other force users, an overconfident maul thinks he can take two jedi at the same time. If he suddenly sensed 10 jedi and council members at that, he would remain hidden. The goal and small print of Qui-gons assignment was to either kill or capture maul to determine whether he is a sith or not. The council get their confirmation of Mauls Sithiness by the way of him killing Qui-gon. The jedi at this point in history are answerable to the senate. They pass 'Missions' to the council and they distribute, if a knight wanted to take a vacation then they better not cause or resolve trouble while they are out otherwise the senate would ask why the jedi was on an 'unsanctioned' mission. Hope this helps
@@mostnobleancient9297 Thank you for the lengthy explanation. Let's take them one by one. Firstly: OK, so you seem to be suggesting, that treaty signed or not, Palpatine wins. If it is signed, he can point out the facade, and step up against the TF. If not signed, what happens in the movie happens, and Palpy wins. Interesting setup, but it only works against a really dumbed down senate and Jedi Order. And that is my fundamental problem with the PT. Lucas dumbed down the Jedi so much, it is laughable that he tries to present Palpy's schemes as some kind of "master plan'" when all it takes is two braincells to figure out what is going on. And you would expect Yoda, Mace and the others to have more than two working braincells between them. My specific issue with your explanation ties into the big picture. So let's say the Naboo crisis can be resolved either way, and Palpy is happy. But we still don't know how or why the Trade Federation is willing to do this on Darth Sidious' behalf. I mean it is not explained what the issue is - taxation does not cut it - and more importantly it is not explained how the TF in their right mind would expect this playing out in their favor. Terrorizing an entire planet and they expect the Republic to give them lower taxes? This never made sense to me, not even upon first seeing the movie in '99. If it is something else, we never know - and that's a flaw, since the audience will not understand the foundation of which the '"masterplan" is built on. Palpy at least should be able to present some scenario that is believable at face value. Also, the Jedi with their more than two braincells should be capable of seeint through this, as I mentioned before... Secondly: The scenario you are describing could make sense, but I take issue with the fact that the Jedi still exist. The TF should expect the Senate and the Republic not standing for Naboo to be occupied, so in lieu of an army, they WILL send Jedi. And dealing with Jedi is easier in space than on the ground - as they barely made it out of the blockade in the first place. For that reason it would have been logical to keep the blockade, and in the movie, nothing indicates the TF withdrawing the blockade. Thirdly: My point stands then. Fourthly: Your point is logical, I can see how Maul would not confront 10 Jedi. But from the position of the Jedi Council... what difference does it make? In the scenario of him being scared and not coming out, he will come out at some later point, according to his mission. If his mission is to capture the queen, he will not stop pursuing that in the long term. So it is silly to risk Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan's lives to "draw him out", when the immediate mission is to protect the queen, not to draw out the Sith. Again, this shows the Jedi Council's laughable incompetence. I don't really believe Lucas thought this through properly, not even on the level of "they want to draw him out". He just wanted his fight scene... I wouldn't say the Jedi would take such risk at this point of the conflict. They would send in a group of 10 Jedi, to make sure the queen - and with that, Naboo - is protected. I can't really see any logical way around that. Yes, drawing out Maul again would be it, but that should have a way lower priority than resolving the Naboo conflict in terms of the Jedi Council. When the Naboo conflict is solved, they should expect the Sith to hide a bit more, then stir up something else, somewhere else - but that might provide an opportunity for the Jedi to set up a trap for them, without risking the lives of a Master and a Padawan. It might not, but the main mission will be then to resolve that conflict, and so on. And with each of these conflicts, the Jedi would have more and more information about the Sith plans and MO, granting long term advantage, and eventual success of trapping them. Instead, we see this ridiculous priority shift, which is not logical at all, and costs them Qui-Gon's life.
I cannot tell you how much I've enjoyed watching this mammoth dissertation of Ep I. It's made me appreciate the careful world building of the prequels so much more, and it shines an even brighter light on why the newer movies have been so disappointing.
Thank you. Which intro monologue are you referring to? The first few minutes (including the footage of TPM hype/adverts), the foreword, or the part about the opening crawl? One thing i always appreciated was subtle facial expression changes in Obi Wan's face after he sees Qui Gon die. It's a brief moment of range, quickly quelled into jedi focus. He is a master of the light side of the force, so he was able to push out hate and anger. It's such a short moment in the movie, but i noticed it even when i was a kid when i saw it in theaters. The Duel of Fates was easily the best lightsaber duel in the entire series

My love has doubled and deepened since I was 10. Pushing 30. Some of the best movies I’ve ever seen, as far as what I think the medium of film is capable of and for.
@@mtuktuk9627 lmao not in the slightest, I am ecstatic every time I watch them. I assure you it is not for lack of exposure to whatever you would consider high cinema. My other favorites come in three flavors. ‘40s golden age: Rebecca, Maltese Falcon, Philadelphia Story, Miracle on 34th Street, White Christmas, and of course the only perfect film besides Revenge of the Sith, Casablanca. Animated movies starring animals: Lion King, Bambi, Jungle Book, Princess Mononoke. And spoof comedies: Walk Hard, Black Dynamite, Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, Kung Fury, Wet Hot, They Came Together. What I want from movies (outside of sick shots that convey story) is either outlandish nonsense, killer lines from cool characters in tight, sentimentally driven moral dramas, or fairy tales come to life. Star Wars is, in my eyes, the singular successful case of the third in live action. It’s very much like Sleeping Beauty, the visual storytelling is simply transfixing; virtually every frame could go up on your wall and when people walked in they’d stop wide-eyed. Watching those images _in motion_ is an experience that I consider the height of cinema, right alongside the striking black-and-white shadow work of Rebecca, or the colorful choreography of White Christmas, or the painted forest backdrops of Bambi, or Black Dynamite saying “I am smiling” when he’s clearly not. Nothing sad about knowing exactly the nature of my taste. In fact, if you couldn’t tell, I’m quite proud of it.
What i found not many people mentioning is how good the voice over actually is. Clean, well cut and recorded and a very calming voice too. Great video.
@mowermen1762 From what I can tell. It's a very consistent and clean voice. He actually has a great voice for it, I think some folks find that it's almost *too* perfect to be true.

I'm only two hours in and I'm already floored. That Jar Jar/Gungan rewrite is genius given how low-effort it would be to implement relatively. Your propositions for Naboo's interior also filled me with joy, especially the Hitchhiker's reference. Excited for the next 10 hours!
Personally, I still have a massive bias towards Darth Jar Jar for all its worth. It just feels so uniquely clever in how ironically stupid yet logical the concept is.
I think Qui Gon's backstory of previous disobedience to the Jedi Council is another subtle indication to the viewer that the council/Jedi are falling into disrepair like the Republic. A good way to convey that in the first movie without showing it
Yeah I thought this could have been more strongly shown, the Qui-gon is what the Jedi used to be. Listening to the living force, but the council had become dogmatic and stale, caring more for the number of midiclorians then what was alive.

i started this thinking “what can someone possibly talk about for 12 hrs in this movie?” Then after only 30 min in, about 3-5 min into the movie, you were getting into the specifics of a droid that looks like C3PO but is and it isn’t the same type of droid; only then did I realize what I had gotten myself into… great work, absolutely insane.
Everything about this video is mindboggling. The duration, the lore/research/change proposals, the editing, the humour, the references to shows/movies unrelated to SW.... Unbelievable work and a huge treat for anyone to watch. Bless your hard work and passion!
This is an amazing video, thank you so much. There is one thing that stood out as absolutly hilarious to me: You always assumed two options for the viewing experience, either you wached Episodes 4-6 and then 1-3 *or* you wached Episodes 4-6, consumed more Star Wars Media an then watched Episodes 1-3. Well my experience and that of most people younger than 30 years I know is neither of those ... we watched them in chronological order, starting with episode 1 and only getting to the original trilogy once we finished the prequels. So we were surprised that Palpetine was a Sith and became the emporer - but we were way more surprised, that our hero Anakin Skywalker turned evil, because we never heard of Lord Vader before Palpatine gave that name to Ani. On the other hand, the famous "I am your father" our parents were going on about was no twist for us at all. I always assumed that was the normal viewing experience for my generation ... than again, maybe the ages at which you are allowed to watch the different movies might be different from county to county, and I guess that woul play an important role who was to young to watch them when they first came out.
4:29:20 This is also why Phasma failed as a villain and why Disney wasn't able to turn her into the new Boba Fett. Phasma was not competent, she was never shown as good at her job. Same with Hux (and the first order in general). It's also why that Random Stormtrooper that fought Finn was so popular. Because he won the fight.
I agree, the sequel movies do have good scenes and characters but not when they need them to be, the randos are better than the main heroes and villains.
I keep watching this for all my free time every day and it’s still going to take me 2 weeks to get through it all, incredible accomplishment dude. A truly phenomenal analysis
This video is an absolute rollercoaster. I've spent the past week getting through this, and no matter how far the tangents go they always wrap around and are both incredibly relevant and informing. I love how you've tie canon together while managing to sort out conflicting sources. This video and channel are critically underrated! I'm definitely on board.
1:50:22 much of it is expanded in the Plagueis novel. For example, he and his master influenced Padme becoming queen because they believed she would be weak enough to be manipulated or threatened into doing their bidding, like signing a treaty under duress. Palpatine didn’t expect her to be as strong willed as she was, but used her strong will as a bludgeon against his rival. Really cunning, when you sit and think about it how much of a key pawn Padme was to Palpatine who used her in all 3 of the prequels to achieve the Sith’s goals. Her life was basically directed by him.
10:21:57 Not if you were in the know. The Bantha Tracks publication had mentioned that Darth Vader's origin involved a duel in a volcanic setting. This was at least twelve years before the prequel trilogy had even started. Edit: Lexis.
The volcano thing is mentioned in the novelization of RotJ. The video is referencing a quote from Lucas prior to that, which suggests Vader was pushed into a nuclear reactor shaft.
I listened to this all, over a week while exercising. Amazing quality - cuts, references, jokes. It's really well done - somehow you made 12 hours not seem long enough and that is was indeed brief.
I main Hoar in Masters Teras Kasi. It may have taken a couple days, but every second was worth it. This was incredibly well researched and written, truly a masterpiece.

@thebreadcircus sweet! I've watched them all half a dozen times, and several marathons, but the amount of research and context and stuff is teaching me so much. I like how you give the facts as they're presented, even when they contradict each other, and then say what your opinion is, which you like, etc. Your idea to fix Jar Jar is absolutely brilliant. I never realized how little I know about engines, so I had no clue what was going on during most of the Pod Racer info, but it was fun nontheless. I sincerely hope you can do 12+ hour movies for all 9 movies while still having the life you want and being able to pay bills.
Detailed analysis of the prequels is still a necessity in the TH-cam landscape. It's truly amazing you put so much work and time into a video like this 👏
Watched over 2 hours worth but then the kids saw I was watching this so we had to stop and watch the film again (always watch to the end of the credits and the breathing) but I am over 2 hours in and enjoying it immensely! Learned a few facts and names too that I hadn't before so far - will listen/watch more tomorrow!
Been listening to this as I fall asleep each night for about a month now; slowly making my way through. You probably have around 300 hours of watch time on this video from me alone. It’s gotten to the point where if I refresh the TH-cam feed around midnight, this video is always on top. I am truly mesmerized by your analysis and attention to detail and look forward to one day moving on to your other videos.
Thank you for making this the star wars movies hold a special place in my heart and I'm excited for the remaining 5 movies (wouldn't mind a rouge one video as well!)
WHAT a ride, took me a few days to get through it all but it was absolutely worth it! You two did such a wonderful job with the, the amount of detail you went into, adhering to the old lore and backing it up with sources. I am actually in love with that I couldn't agree anymore with your interpretation of lore. I genuinely have so much respect for that! The editing and voice work is fantastic of course, but the amount of care and attention to detail was brilliant. I think this is perfectly shown with your interpretation of Shmi Skywalker AND Qui-Gon Jinn and his own view of the prophecy among his general attitude towards the Jedi. I will admit, I clicked on this video originally out of curiosity for the absurdly long run time, but once the video got into the swing of things it was hard to put down. It is such a breath of fresh air to genuinely learn actually new and interesting things; such as an in-depth look of Palpatine's plan, how the plan evolved throughout the story, the Senate and old chancellor, how star ships/hyper space works, the origins of the old Jedi Order, the Mon Calamari, the dichotomy between Qui Gon and the Jedi Council, the final battles and so on. BRILLIANT stuff. I can't put it into words the emotions that surged through me when you actually reference me out of all people IN your video, it was completely out of the blue! I literally jumped out of my chair out of bewilderment and excitement! Ahaha honestly man, It was such an actual shock in the nicest of way possible, I am genuinely honoured and humbled, thank you. Seeing you two tie in that game to your analysis of the movie makes me genuinely incredibly curious what other games you may look into in when covering the other movies. Regardless, I've grown a new found appreciation for the Phantom Menace because of you guys, a movie I used to write off; thinking the story of the prequel trilogy should have started with Episode 2. But now you have not only made me appreciate Episode 1, you've made it interesting and have proved without a shadow of a doubt, that the film is logically consistent with the original trilogy, and has a plethora of ideas and concepts that are worth exploring. and that ultimately the Phantom Menace is truly worthy of being called a great Star Wars film. oh and of course, I main hoar in masters of teras kasi 😄
Didn't expect a Jerma reference snuck in there, nice. Absolutely worth the 12 hour watch, outstanding breakdown. Hope to see it done for Episodes II and III as well.

Bravo.

Very ironic since Phantom Menace was hated just like the sequels were.
These people don’t understand they only have an attachment to the prequels because they grew up with it
0:05 min I love it how you say "Star Wars has a great deal of lore to analyse" and you show on the screen only the episodes I-VI
Because those six parts are the cornerstone from which all else extends.
@@monsterofmud and because, as far as mainline titles are concerned, the difference between the Lucas 6 and the Disney films is like night and day.
Lucas was many things, some good some bad, but one was that he was actually interested in Building the world for his characters to exist in. He might have been motivated by wanting to sell merch towards the end, but he understood that toys are more fun to play with when you have a sandbox to play with them in.

That's still a lot more movies than there could've been. That's something to be happy about. -ED-1TA
-DZ
I'm glad you understand that, I've met too many people who hate them for reasons that apply to both trilogies
This is nice and all, but I was 15 and I hated it in 1999, and I hate it ever since. Please understand that. A LOT of things don't make sense, even after watching this AWESOME 12 hour analysis. I have a long-long list, but here are a few items:
- The Neimodians plan to capture the queen and sign a "treaty" is nonsensical to an unbelievable degree.
Not a bad plan and as breadcircus puts it 'Expertly improved'
tl;dr It was meant to be seen as a joke, it was part of Palpatine's longer plan to become chancellor
Secondly; When returning to Naboo the Lugrehulks had been reduced to a single highly modified Droid control ship.
@@mostnobleancient9297
Thank you for the lengthy explanation.

Yeah I thought this could have been more strongly shown, the Qui-gon is what the Jedi used to be. Listening to the living force, but the council had become dogmatic and stale, caring more for the number of midiclorians then what was alive.

This is also why Phasma failed as a villain and why Disney wasn't able to turn her into the new Boba Fett.

Very nerdy indeed
It is all nade up still :D
1:50:22 much of it is expanded in the Plagueis novel. For example, he and his master influenced Padme becoming queen because they believed she would be weak enough to be manipulated or threatened into doing their bidding, like signing a treaty under duress.
Palpatine didn’t expect her to be as strong willed as she was, but used her strong will as a bludgeon against his rival. Really cunning, when you sit and think about it how much of a key pawn Padme was to Palpatine who used her in all 3 of the prequels to achieve the Sith’s goals. Her life was basically directed by him.

The editing and voice work is fantastic of course, but the amount of care and attention to detail was brilliant.
I was fired from my job from reading this comment taking too long while taking a massive shit. (My legs went numb help.)
Didn't expect a Jerma reference snuck in there, nice.
Absolutely worth the 12 hour watch, outstanding breakdown. Hope to see it done for Episodes II and III as well.
timestamp??
@azula-chan4897, it's gotta be somewhere in here. Only 12 hours to go through
It took me a week but I manage to watch the whole thing. Great briefing, want more.
Cool, you're one of the only people that gets the double meaning of the title. -ED-1TA
Somehow made the greatest episode one analysis while also making the greatest episode one racer analysis at the same time.
Normalize 12 hour TH-cam videos please, as long as they’re this well researched and consistently entertaining.
Agreed!
