    Sensory Processing does not just affect the skin but it also affects the eating. My daughter has Down Syndrome but she also deals with texture issues while eating. For the last few months we have worked on adding more texturized foods, rich in different flavors and temperature to her diet. Today I am showing you what I feed her in a day.

    ⚡️➡️ What are some food and recipes you use to help your picky eater or sensory kids eat?

      Feeding issues are so hard psychologically on us caregivers. My son has a hard time self feeding and gets fatigued quickly so we do a lot of mini meals. A scrambled egg is a meal in our house. We do a lot of apples(cubed without the peel), low sugar high protein yogurt, zbars or any soft granola bar, soups, peanut butter sandwiches on Dave’s killer bread. I add applesauce or cream cheese to his sandwiches and I even sneak flax seeds on them! He drinks lots of smoothies packed with berries, spinach, flax seeds, and different nut butters. He also loves chicken in the crock pot with some low sodium chicken broth, carrots & celery. 6 hours on low It shreds easily. No need to blend! We are working on self feeding with a spoon but to be honest I’m just glad he eats and eats a wide variety of food most of the time. He loves to throw food on the floor too 😊😩

    My son is older now.... but he was diagnosed back in 2005.. he was 4 yo... he is an only child so while he struggled with textured food and only liked a few kinds of clothes, etc.. his main problem was kids, especially bigger groups of kids in preschool and kindergarten... he felt really comfortable with adults but it took till about 3rd - 4th grade for him to be comfortable in a classroom of kids.. he particularly didn’t like holidays and school parties... anyway, I wasn’t on any social media, etc and therapy has come a long way... it wasn’t even offered to us... So I never knew about reintroducing textures... and new foods.. so we stuck to foods and textures he liked... he is now nearly 20 and in the past 2 years he’s tried a variety of new foods, etc.. It has helped that he has a serious girlfriend.... who is quite pushy...which is ok some of the time..anyway...
    Anyway, do all of you have Sensory Processing Disorder? I have always loved playdoh, clay, fidget toys, etc...it helps me focus...Oh btw, I highly recommend you buying colored clay... it has a different texture than playdoh, etc... it’s firm and cold ... the more you work it it softens... you can store it and it stays soft... and you can make creations and bake them and your kids can keep and display their creations... do not buy air dry clay... there are great kits on Amazon.. Also have your kids tried putty or floor? Both are very cool textures... and putty even comes scented if you want...

      I'm pretty sure we do, to some extent. I have heard of the colored clay, I will have to check that out for real. Thanks for the tip!

    Where do you take her for her therapies? You have occupational, physical, and speech in the same location?

    • @LivingWithEve
      @LivingWithEve  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      OT and PT are together. Speech is with another therapist 30 mins away.

    Aww, she is so cute and has an AMAZING personality! But I myself am 13 and have sensory Processing disorder and Autism, and I would recommend Jello! My therapist did that with me before and I have a friend With down syndrome and his occupational therapist also did jello as well because he wouldn't go to the sessions at school without me. 😂

    So the wrap is like 5 hours old after she gets home and she finishes it? Just curious because I'm sure it doesn't taste as good after that time frame

    • @LivingWithEve
      @LivingWithEve  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not at all 5 hours old, more like 3. They keep it cold for me when she has left overs and I also transport it in a cooler with ice packs. It's fine.
