For those in the dark tuning to Taro Patch G 6th string D ; 5th string down to G, 4th remains the same , 3rd string remains a G, and the 2nd string remains B, and the 6th string is turning a whole step to d, so u have DGDGBD, now trying playing the video exercise given in the first part of the video. A great beginning exercise, easy to learn hard to master and this little ditty, also has the vamp in G. Lose the attitude! Ki Ho Alu is sacred; when played from the heart. Aloha Puna Paddy
what you guys didnt get the lessons there were at least two song he taught, he didnt teach it step by step but he did teach a song just by playing, im 19 years old and i admit it took me 2 weeks to learn the songs he played.
@Gitfidlpickr Hey, Mark's a mellow guy, just like the music. I clicked on the link of the uploader and searched their site on Mark Nelson. I found 45 multipark lessons, complete with chords, runs, tabs of the tunes, split screens showing a close-up of the fingerboard (and sometimes the right hand, too), and, yes, stories about the songs and slack key in general. Mark is one of the guys who has opened up slack key guitar to non-islanders. This was a teaser to get you to go to their site.
I thought it sounded like standard G too,I have a friend DOUG FOEHNER,who plays an expensive Hawaiian gig about once a year and he loves Sol Hohupi (phonentized)but he has other tunings(he and his brother Steve are 78rpm collector enthusiasts). He found this priceless old Hawaiian recording of "How Do The Old People Know When Its Going To Rain"Chris Young
Just another pitch video with no lesson. Tired of artists misrepresentation of “lesson” as a sales tool. I not buying something unseen, no tabs and no clue of how they teach until I at least get a sample without going through the hassle of setting up and account and then flood my email inbox with “offer of the day”. My quest to learn slack key will continue elsewhere unfortunately.
God bless you for keeping tradition alive. Mahalo.

What happened to the lesson? I missed it. Maybe the video should be renamed, 'How Mark Discovered Slack Key'. But, not as a lesson. That is not fair.
Pretty..Loved it.....
The outro was a standard style for country music too.

Is he playing on a steel string guitar?
Yes he is
