It's yard sale season! Time for some neighborhood sales. I'm always on the hunt for vintage. Will I find any?

I laughed at how we keep buying supplies even when we try to talk ourselves out of it! 😂 I’ll meet you in your basement later to do the same!!❤❤

    I’ll be the contrarian 😎
Hosting a sale is a lot of work, a LOT of work, weeks and weeks of preparation ( at least for me) and I always have ‘shoot the moon’ items, to make it worth my time. Some sell, some don’t. 🤷

If those two boxes would have been filled with vintage ornaments that were in great condition, maybe even a few indents included in the batch, and if the boxes were also in good condition they would have been worth the fifty dollars. But the ornaments were not that special and showed a lot of wear on them and one of the boxes had tears in it and did not even have the dividers inside to protect the ornaments. I think some people who have sales use the same logic as many pricers at thrift stores: If it looks old price it high. I have been getting lucky because the two thrift stores that I go to most often have pricers that don't seem to see any value in old Christmas stuff so I have been finding some nice vintage Christmas items for just a few dollars which is fine with me. I bought a Holt Howard Santa mug in great condition for 99 cents just last week.

Congratulations on your HH find. I have no problems with someone asking whatever they want for something. If they can get $20 for a coloring book, or $50"for Shiny Brites at a yard sale, more power to them. However, people do not shop yard sales to expecting to spend retail or online money. I would never, for instance, try to sell my original artwork at a yard sale. It isn't the right audience and I definitely would want more than a yard sale would yield. To your point, yes. I think they believe "If it's old, it must be worth lots of money."

I always say-“Just because it meets the definition of vintage , doesn’t meant it’s valuable!”

Well said: prices should be done with regards to your audience. $50 for the ornaments was shocking to see at a yard sale. Great video!

Why that was only 25.00 each with the box. I consider it a fair market price. If you don't like that price walk away.

I think that yard sales have been looked at by some, as money makers. Others out there still view them as get rid of things before I donate them or put them curbside. Social media does influence and provide terrible distorted expectations for some. The public will tolerate a bit more higher pricing if you call it an estate sale. Then, the neighbors are left to figure out who died. Use the words ‘living estate sale’. LOL.

A sale is a sale whatever you call it. You are entitled to price items at your desecration

That’s the problem with the younger generations…they don’t quite understand the meaning of vintage and antique…😮and you’re right about the eBay thing …you can’t slap those prices on garage sale items

Not everything is priced for people to resell. Some of their items are priced that way because they may have paid more and they would rather keep than to sell for dirt cheap. A lot of people who go to neighborhood garage sales will actually pay a little more as collectors than search antique shops. Something for everyone.

There are no laws saying what you have to call your sale, or what you have to price it. You all are just upset you can't make the profit yourself

Heres my little rant. Not everyone wants to deal with ebay. Ebay ruined the flea market business! Not everyone has a computer or printer or internet. Yes even in this day and age.
They still make item available to others who don't shop online.

Just watched this video and cannot believe you were complaining about the prices they put on "vintage' items. You were just upset that you couldn't snap it up to make a big profit. It was their house, their stuff and their sale and no one said you had to spend your time going there. You were filming their private property and will make money on You Tube. Everyone has the right to sell their stuff at the price they want. The money is just as good in their pocket as yours. I have been buying and selling since the 70s and never got upset at what someone wanted for an item. I just move along. Seems you get many bargains along the way. This is just sour grapes!

Exactly what I said, but there are different audiences for different expectations.
