- I Don't Care How Bad This Makes Me Look | Thrifting Goodwill To Resell isn't always sunshines and rainbows. To get good at reselling, you have to learn how to walk away and raise your own bar.
It's been a wake up call each visit to every one of my recent thrifts trips to Goodwill and Savers. No matter what location I've gone to thrifting isn't my go to like before.
When something isn't working, it doesn't mean give up. Take it as a sign to step outside your comfort zone and try something new to get you back on track.
It's not that thrifting is getting harder, It's that I'm not settling for something I can't stand behind. I want the best for me and my customers.
I quit giving to GW a long time ago. When I could no longer afford to purchase their used clothing, that was it. It is a for profit retailer now and does not deserve to be given anything.
Goodwill has always been a for-profit retailer, but I agree with you, they have gotten out of control with their pricing. I haven’t donated to them in over one year & I rarely even stop into one anymore.
I started buying at goodwill in 1975 and abruptly stopped about 2 years ago.Prices are ridiculous now.
Used to work at a Goodwill. Everything is just taken from donation to distribution/display. The clothing is not washed, the collectibles aren't dusted, and the pricing is done by community service workers. If any label sounds quality to the sorters, they are placed in a more expensive category or display cabinet. Also, stores donate items they refuse to sell for cheap to Goodwill, especially from Target and Jcpennys. Stores get a donation write off, but Goodwill gets the buyers. Don't buy their garbage until they remember their origins and adjust their stores accordingly.
That’s unfortunate. I feel like it’s a waste of time to filter items and have people work to transport it somewhere, list it, ship it and so on. Let us do that 😊 goodwills and savers usually have people running in the doors on discount days. The other five days are usually slow. They should reconsider a simpler business like they used to not long ago.
@@neonistheloneliestcolor971 I once went to a goodwill in Chicago area. They had a bunch of heaters for 20$ that were 200 at Walmart. Also the new easy bake ovens that are 60$ at Walmart for 4$. I bought them and took them back for exchange. Win win
$14 for one statue is nuts. GW is out of control with greed.
That brand does have wonderful work, but it’s not worth that price.
We have four cats, all rescues or strays... Biscuit (Siamese), Dexter (brown tiger stripe), Samuel L. Jackson (a cool black cat), and Taco, a tiny little Manx we found during our last hurricane. They are pretty old, but then again, so are we, so it works out! 😁
Cats are so chill. I crack up watching cat videos. They’re addicting.

Just found your channel. love your vibe and honesty. I've been reselling for almost 2 years now and love it. I really hate when people park that close. I try and stick to the Goodwill outlet aka bins for reselling ... as the store is way to over priced and they cherry pick the really good stuff for their online store.

I sold apparel for four years until three years ago when I started getting into glass, home decor and vintage jewelry. Doesn’t take as much space…at least for now 🤣

Mikasa anything has been a dud all year for me and so has clear glass. It's nice that you take your mother-in-law to thrift with you. She seems to enjoy it.

Goodwill is becoming more of a competitor in reselling. Still a great place to source but got to develop additional ways to source inventory 🔎🔎
First time watching your videos and I'll be looking for more. I have been dipping my toes in the resale world for a few years and want to get more serious so I'm watching to see what works and doesn't work for the rest of you. I totally agree that quality should overrule quantity because you want to make sure what you're getting and selling is worthwhile to yourself and your customers.
My best advice is find what makes you happy in your journey. Having a notebook helps by keep track of your plans and goals. My goal lately is to get more organized which is why I wasn’t thrifting as much as I am now. You’re gonna do great. Thank you for joining me and my journey.

Im now trying to figure out what to do with 4-5 file boxes that are full of ceramic knick knacks, trinket boxes, figurines, etc.
I found out finding the glass for a steal & selling for a lot is what makes me smile!

Hey Sonny, I'm a cat lover too. My cats are all indoor only and rescued. My oldest girl, Hazel, just turned 16, our middle cat, Aster is 8 and our newest little one that we rescued and saved from going to the shelter is Dolly and she's 2. Aster and Dolly got spayed last week and are healing well. We have 2 rescued pit bull mixes, Rex and Cooper, big cuddle bugs, and a house duck named Kale who is 8 years old. I always enjoy your videos Sonny. You're such a great guy.
What's important when flipping just be grateful for what you get and the more that you are grateful for is what you will find out is the treasure that we seek. A little bit of happiness. Have a great week and remember that as a treasure hunter, you are a grown man who gets to live a child's dream. If it ain't fun. It ain't worth it.

Wow so rude of them to park so close. Love this video, love the honesty. I’m glad you showed something other than a cart full of amazing things - some days and hauls are just like this. And just like you I used to buy for the sake of buying. Now I have plenty of inventory, I’m looking for quality. My goodwill is about 1/4 in size and has pretty much expensive junk. Only clothes are worth look through. I drive 35 miles to go to a decent Salvation Army.

The cloisonne ball looks more like Champleve, which is very similar to Cloisonne but has slightly raised or elevated fields instead of being inlay like or flush set. I may not be explaining it right so to find more accurate and reliable information check out Antique Trader.

GW is for profit - it is also where people drop off thier trash - you are also dealing with the workers perception of value on pricing - 8 out of 10 times it’s a pass and never find any home run items $50-75 and up in value

I’ve been picky about what I get. I also didn’t know what I know now about marquis by Waterford. I don’t know everything but always open to learn. The community helps a lot.

@@SonnyLasVegas we sell a little bit of everything. We were power sellers in the early 2000s and quit but are just now getting back into selling. Dutton Deals on eBay. We spend a couple of hours nearly everyday learning (youtube) and JRide has been one of our place we learn and that’s how we found you. We can’t wait to learn new things and snatch a new item to add to our hot items list.
