My dad is into poetry. He writes his own and he reads all the greats. He knows a decent amount of Bon's lyrics, especially for a bluegrass-loving guy. Lol
But he was always really impressed with Bon's wit and humor and his relatable lines. Especially lines like, "I've got patches on the patches on my old blue jeans..."; my dad grew up poor so he could relate to what Bon was writing about.
When I asked him what the chances were that Brian would be able to write like his predecessor, Bon, with lines that are near verbatim (just a different perspective) such as, "I'm coming on like a hurricane", which is just like Bon wrote in Stick Around with "You came on like a hurricane" 5.5 years prior. Or use the line "Made a meal out of me" which is like Bon's line in Love Hungry Man from a year earlier; "All I wanna do, is make a meal outta you". Plus other Bon-isms or actual straight-up Bon expressions. Meanwhile, the band says, "Brian just so happened to write just like Bon!" My dad laughed.
My old man is a smart guy. And he knows good, talented writing when he sees/hears it. I said, "Dad, how do you know so many AC/DC lyrics?" He said, "Between you and your brother I've been listening to them for 45 years. How can I not pick up on it?" Lol
Think about this one: In Hells Bells the lyric goes, "MY lightning's flashing across the sky", right? Bon gave an interview where he was asked, "Are you AC or DC?", Bon replied, "Neither! I'm the lightning flash in the middle!" So, "MY lightning's flashing across the sky" is an OBVIOUS Bon Scott line, to me.

But it’s funny there’s never ever been any demos from BIB on the internet as if it was available we’d see it and being the 2 nd biggest selling album of all time

Okay, so this is what i have heard and think. Angus said that pretty much all the music and song titles was done during the time Bon was alive. Angus also said that Bon played some drums on demos for Hells Bells and Have A Drink On Me, but that was all. Brian said that when he was writing songs for Back In Black he felt as if Bon was precent and helped him. I personally don't believe in the spirit stuff, but because Brian was writing a tribute to Bon he probably looked a little more into his life. Brian might have taken inspiration from previous Bon lyrics, hence where the spirit came from as Brian recalled previous AC/DC lyrics subconsciously. Brian might also have been overwhelmed by the strong emotions that was going on and just brainstormed everything. That could also explain why songs with Brian as a writer wasn't as clever/cheeky after Back In Black. The emotions started to wear off and when Brian didn't have a theme to write about, he simply didn't know anymore what he was suppose to write.

Brian may have added a line or two to some songs, but he was never a lyricist like Bon. Back In Black was written primarily by Bon. Brain came in and within 6 weeks he wrote lyrics, practiced, rehearsed, recorded, finished his part of the album? Yeah, sure. AC/DC would never have gone into the studio without first being 100% absolutely prepared.

Brian has stated in great detail the exact moments he wrote the lyrics to Hells Bells, You Shook Me All Night Long, Shoot To Thrill etc, the exact things that gave him inspiration. Come on, man.... Brian's lyrics are NOTHING like Bon Scott's. They are like chalk and cheese. The rhyming schemes and rhythmic displacement on Hells Bells & Back In Black specifically don't sound like anything Bon did before and wouldn't have suited his style of singing at all.

    • @cycomiles4225
      @cycomiles4225 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

You say that but Angus, Malcolm and Brian have denied that Bon wrote any lyrics, since the 80s for back in black. He died before he could write anything. Ac/dc songs and lyrics arent that complicated, you for sure can write an album in 6 weeks. They way Bon and Brian write lyrics to fit the music and rhythm are totally different. Bons flow through, Brian is very much on the beat 1 and he hammers it hard.

Same here, Jim. I really doubt Angus would have thrown them out. From what I've heard and read about Angus it just doesn't seem like something he would do. I don't think he really cares about Brian's legacy and if people one day find out the truth about BIB.
To me it was obvious when they got Axl in the band (and they can pretend all they want, but he was most certainly there to take over from Brian. Look at the way they quickly wished Brian the best on his future endeavors).
During an interview Angus was singing Axl's praises, comparing him to Bon. Cliff Williams said he hadn't seen Angus so excited in many, many years. Angus talked about how Axl reminded him of Bon in that he had he was like a "Folk character" and had his own personality like Bon. Then you had the Youngs wanting to boot Brian in the late 80s because they were going nowhere fast.
I think the Youngs wanted another Bon from that point on. Someone who could write lyrics so they didn't have to, someone who could sing and come up with melodies over their riffs and ideas. Basically, another Bon who could whip their riffs and chord progressions into full-on songs the way Bon did.
I will always credit Jeremy "JR" Hunsaker for coming up with that entire analogy on who the real songwriter was; Bon.
The only thing that saved Brian's job then was the success of The Razor's Edge. If that album did about the same as Blow Up Your Video they would have no doubt given Brian the axe.
      Cheers, pal!

@@iloveacdc5791 For a while I thought it was just one of those rumors and I’d say, “Ah, bull 💩!”
Then, much later on, and after reading quick mentions about it in a few other books, author (and obviously owner of this channel) Jesse Fink (who cops far too much and totally unnecessary flack) actually found the full story. Even down to WHO was tapped to replace Brian.
Unfortunately, I do not remember the name of the singer. But that singer, stupidly, IMHO, opted to stay with his band who then released an album in 1989.
In a way, it worked out for AC/DC because they had their massive hit with Thunderstruck. I don’t know about you but I cannot imagine that song w/o Brian singing it.
Then again, maybe it would have been even bigger had, and I mean no disrespect whatsoever to Brian, someone with a healthy voice and with a very wide range singing that song? Who knows? But I heard the singer whose name I forget and he would have fit in perfectly.
Bottom line is, they didn’t just need a singer with a healthy voice (let’s face it, the Youngs pushed Brian until his voice was shot. And to be fair, Brian didn’t exactly take good care of his voice at ALL. He smoked like a chimney and drank a lot of- a LOT. Drinking, despite what he the band (Mal and Angus) said, especially in the 80s, was not at all frowned upon. Bon didn’t die from alcohol poisoning or whatever, like they try and tell us. As Jesse Fink discovered, they most likely and most believable manner in which Bon died was heroin combined with alcohol.
When mixed with alcohol, 1 or 2 lines, especially of brown Afghan heroin which flooded London in particular at the time, was enough to kill Bon. That is likely what happened.
That also answers why they have songs a boy drinking on Back In Black, particularly “Have A Drink On Me”.
Anyway, so Brian drank his butt off back then to probably, just like Bon did, get through the grueling tour schedule. A schedule that also contributed to ruining his voice.
So the Youngs knew Brian could very well be the reason why they weren’t able to have any hit songs or albums on the level of Back In Black.
By ‘89, that’s exactly why they were, very tight lipped and secretive as could possibly be, looking for a replacement. I’m sure they knew too that they needed a singer who could write better lyrics than they could. The other pretty much confirmed rumor is that they hired, as many bands did, ghostwriters such as Desmond Child who worked with Bon Jovi, KISS, and so many others, to write lyrics for what became The Razor’s Edge.
I’m privy to a very little bit of inside info, but I also keep my ears and eyes open and literally study this topic and basically all things AC/DC for a hobby. Of which it is to me.
I don’t throw crap on the internet unless I have confirmed it with someone who have actually talked to these people who have worked directly with AC/DC.
AC/DC are a tight-lipped and ultra private band. They will only tell their story as THEY want it to be known. So that’s why you have to dig deep to find the real story out. Just like Jesse Fink did over the course of 2 books, “The Youngs: The Brothers Who Built AC/DC” and “Bon: The Last Highway”, which took in total about 6 years of his life to write. Jesse tracked the entire globe to meet with people who worked, toured with, managed, were friends with, and in Bon’s case, shared the same bed with him as well as the band. Jesse Fink is unlike any other biographer; and I’ve read almost every single AC/DC biography one could ever get their hands on.
As far as the singer the Youngs wanted to replace Brian with, that singer even came clean and admitted it himself. If Jesse sees this post he will tell you. If not, I can find the guy’s again and I will come back and tell you. And trust me, this isn’t some happy horse crap story. it is absolute factual information.
I'll come back in a little while. Cool?
      Cheers!
