    His vocal sounds that you are calling "sloppy" are basically how British aristocrats would be parodied in the 70's/80's (and maybe still today). Especially in words like "notariety" you hear it. You could probably get similar vocals or pronunciation if you watched Monty Python skits or other Brit-coms of the time.

    This song is not about testicles or ballroom dancing. It's all about giving a big middle finger to radio censorship. They played this unedited back in the day and it was fairly outrageous.
    Also, you MUST react to "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" now. It's another absolute gem of a song from this album.

    AC/DC have been playing for 50 years. Bon was only the lead singer for about 5 1/2 years before his death in 1980 and Brian Johnson took over. Yet Bon is so loved by their fans. It is a testament to his vocals, stage presence and charisma that he is so well remembered. As good as Brian Johnson is, there was just something about Bon.

    • @steffenjonda8283
      @steffenjonda8283 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Well, Brian took over in 1980 and he made ACDC a world rocking band. But ACDCs best songs came with Bon and they were MUCH better with Bon.
      It is so sad, but Brian is an excellent replacement. No disrespect to him. Also he is the finest rock star you could find.
      But Bon, well Bon was "the man". If he hadn´t died so soon, he could have been bigger then Freddie.

    Bon's posh accent is utterly brilliant, as is his delivery. I discovered this song when I was 18. I had these two friends and we were exploring AD/DC'S older albums, and my buddy says, listen to this. We nearly fell over laughing. You cannot listen to this song without smirking or smiling.

    This song was SO SCANDALOUS in my neighborhood when I was a kid: our grade school banned us from playing it or singing it, and our moms did not even allow us to have the album (76-77 was before cassette tapes became popular). And yet... somehow... we played and sang the shit out of this. 😂

      I was in 7th grade Music class and we had to do a oral report on a rock band/song, and this kid Jeff did this song with another kid. I remember his exact quote in front of the class, "We know nothing about this band or the song, we picked it because of the subject', 'Big Balls'"...The 300 pound lady teacher failed him....lol After a year of boring traditional standard songs, this was great. It was probably the first time I ever heard the song myself...

      When I was in junior high, this album came out. That summer, my mom arranged a carpool with some other neighborhood children to take us to our weekly computer programming class. It was not a short drive, so we brought tapes to listen to on the way. One of the children had this album and we put it on. We all loved it, including my mom, who thought it was the funniest thing she'd heard.
      Like most people, my relationship with my parents has always been "complicated", but it was moments like that, that gave me a proper appreciation of her being "a real live person", and indeed one with a (at times) easy-going sense of humor!

      I can completely relate. I was a kid in South Africa in the 1970s, and the ACDC albums were in a very long list of albums that were either banned or severely frowned upon by the society of the time. And yet, we found ways to listen to it whenever we wanted. It points to one of those truths of life: the more you try to suppress something, the stronger you make it.

    Elizabeth, I and everyone on here have been not only music fans, but passionate about the craft that is music. Being 53 in age it brings me back to listening to record albums with friends and family. How you'd anticipate when that good friend would come to your house, sit down, and enjoy each others company while joyfully discovering something new. Having had so many of these songs as an integral part of my life for many years, watching you discover so many of them for the first time is like having that precious experience over again with fresh insight and renewed wonder. It truly is like having a friend pop by to share a moment of life, something that is missing today for so many. I've played guitar for many years, and the ability you have to passionately share your love of the voice as an instrument has inspired so many including myself to start vocal journeys of our own. I thank you, I appreciate you, and will continue looking forward to your visits. Much love to you, and all of us who get together here in 2024. 🐙😀

    Queen has songs like Fat Bottomed Girls and Bicycle Race, AC/DC has Big Balls, Van Halen had Hot for Teacher, etc.
    And some of these songs manage to deliver one of the most defining sounds of these bands too. The intro to Hot for Teacher, the drums and guitar, it's so utterly unique, technically impressive and if you heard it once, you'll remember it forever.

But this was also a dig at music censorship at the time. "Censor this!" was almost the message behind this particular song. Elizabeth, I'm so happy you have the .... intestinal fortitude (Ha! I'll bet you thought I was going to say balls!) to react to this brilliant piece of cheeky wordplay. AC/DC with Bon Scott on vocals was often filled with sly words, naughty winks, or hilarious asides between the lines. Another great example is Whole Lotta Rosie, an evening with a very large woman, based on a true event in Bon's offstage escapades. A fun and hard rocking track that never devolves into weight shaming.
    As a parent, be aware that kids are always listening, even when they look like they aren't. I was playing this album and my youngest, at 2 years old, started singing the chorus. He paraded around the house, regaling his mother with words she didn't want to hear. At the time, he didn't even know what either iteration of balls were, only that the song made me laugh so it must be fun to repeat. ♥ His mother, my ex, was mortified that he'd remember this when her friends came to visit. 😂😂
