For Oregon residents, vehicles have a higher than average price tag. If you travel to Washington state, you can almost always find a better deal. As far as I know, you also don’t have to pay the taxes as long as you register in Oregon state still.
So if you were to buy a new vehicle from another state, I would assume the price includes sales tax from that state (Alabama). It has been a while since I bought a new car but, technically by law you have to switch the license plate to match your driver's license residence within 30-40 days (Tennessee). Wouldn't you have to pay the sales tax to Tennessee too? I bought my 2012 Camry new and paid $700 less using a different delaership. Turns out to be the same VIN from another dealer 10 miles away. Crazy. I thought about used but got 0%, 3-year loan for a new one so it's a no brainer. Very pleased with the vehicle and I intend to keep it another 6 years and it feels nice not having a car payment for years now.

Then register the car in Montana lol. No tax. This is how 90% of exotics are done.

To be honest... I just work from home and get everything delivered now. Life is pretty easy when you arrange your life in a carless lifestyle.
