    LC9S Pro is my CCW, with the LCRX 38 special as a backup.
    honest to god, the LC9S Pro has the best trigger of any 9mm i have ever shot...full size, compact, you name it. after shooting the LC9S for a bit, it's actually a struggle to go back to another 9mm because the trigger feels inferior. Ruger really hit a homerun with this one
    the LC9S Pro truly rocks

    @hitchok45 this was exactly what i needed to hear to solidify my decision on trading out my newer Lc9s, for the newish Gold Slide pro model... ill wear both for a while until my basic one sells, but im so glad to hear that the mag safety isnt implemented in the better looking Gold pro model, as the color and no thumb safety were strikes 1 n 2, the mag safety has caused so much of a nuisance... and because it was my first day carry, the thumb safety was nice for keeping one chambered as a rookie or for just no holster belt tucking. now its convenient like a glock with only 8 rounds... but 2 of them, 16 rounds... sounds like fun. thx again, youre usually the selling point after personal research

If we hear that creak and We are in bed! Someone's going to die real quick. The triggers great on the Lc9s 9mm pro. I keep the extended 9 rd mag in the pistol. Never know if there's more than one intruder. Shawn

    I bought the original Lc9 for my wife a few years back and we both shoot it well. Took awhile to get that long double action trigger to break in but it is a very accurate weapon. Thanks for the new video, Hickok45! I've liked much about the LC9 for a few years but couldn't live with the long DA style trigger. Then the LC9s fixed that and I knew Ruger had me. Fortunately I dragged my heels a while until I saw the Lc9s PRO for the first time in person last week. I bought it on the spot! What a great little pistol, kudos to Ruger for sticking with the LC9 until they got it right. The M&P Shield has real competition now.

    Bought my wife this gun for Christmas and we both love it. Sights are dead on and the trigger is awesome. I honestly enjoy shooting it more than my glock 19. When Hickok says that a trigger might be too light for carry, take his word for it. It took a couple mags for me to be confident with it

  • @myfullnameishere9485
    @myfullnameishere9485 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hickock - thank you for your contribution. The LC9S has become one of my "all-time" favorites in 25 years as a firearms enthusiast and CC permit holder. Everyone likes striker fired as they are easier to master, and cost less, of course, and those characteristics are some of the central things that made Glock famous. A new wave of striker fired pistols is hitting the markets in a big way. Particularly the Shield, LC9S and VP9 have characteristics that are different from Glock in the way that the trigger breaks while the trigger finger is more extended, giving a sense that it is earlier and not so deep into the back of the trigger guard. This extended-forward breaking point, I believe, is what makes the LC9S and those other guns so sweet to shoot. The trigger is indeed light, and in fact is right in the territory of the 1911 both in weight and position...I think that the demographic market for the sub-compact, single-stack 9mm will need the Safety, while the "Pro" model is just that = it fills the need for those who are highly experienced and under constant threat. Just my $0.02. More power to you.

    My son purchased a Ruger LC9 and left it with me while he is stationed in Germany. I must say that I have many Ruger firearms and am well pleased with all of them. I like the idea of the LC9 but am not pleased with the one my son has. It rattles quite a bit and both front and rear sights came loose during firing at the gun range. Only 50 rounds were shot. Not a giant issue, a punch on the dovetail on the front and an alan wrench on the rear and it's up and running again. I trust Mr. Hickok45 and his praise of this firearm. If I were to purchase one it would be on his glowing recommendation and not my experience. I guess I just shot the occasional lemon every manufacturer produces when a certain quantity is reached. It would also be the LC9s pro for all the reasons Mr. Hickok45 espoused. Thanks for reinforcing my faith in Ruger, a fine American gun manufacturer and a solid no nonsense review as always. How should I end this? Oh yea, "life is good".

    • @hickok45

      B3N S Thanks. I agree. Because of our large audience, there ARE going to still be the small percentage of anonymous little trolls here, too, but it could be much worse. I think our lack of "ranting" and our lack of interest in creating "TH-cam drama" by hating on people to get viewers keeps the environment around here just a bit more sane, at least "sane" in terms of operating within this gigantic ocean of anonymity. The Trolls and "keyboard warriors" will always be with us. Also, I think that sometimes our videos bring out the "envy" in some folks and they react badly. There must be thousands of shooters out there who watch our videos and say to themselves, "Geez, I can do anything he can do, and I have a camera and TH-cam channel; how does that idiot get over a million subscribers!" Well, they probably "ain't" far wrong. The difference is mainly that we actually got started and DID it, are DOING it. Some of the envy-laden comments from the less mature portion of these people strikes me as the most sad and pathetic. They could maybe do exactly what John and I are doing and let the envy take them over as they pen some insulting Trollish comment, rather than putting their effort into making some good videos. :-) It's all good, though, and we're happy that for the most part young guys and gals can watch the videos and not be too shocked if they read comments. They are the future of the 2nd Amendment.

Yeah, people are funny about their preferences, whether it's guns, specific ammo, holsters, cars, religion, movies, computers, wine, etc. And, of course, sometimes those who are most likely to comment are those with the strongest opinions / obsessions and often those with the least experience. :-)

    Thanks for another excellent analysis & demo. I soured so badly on the first LC9 long trigger, plus the chintzy little plastic door to release/replace the break down pin jammed after 3 months. In 3 months 1 day, the pistol was sold. But I appreciate the fixes Ruger is finally coming up with. Not for me, at any price, but good for others and good review.

    I have the LC9S Pro, and recently purchased the extended eight round magazine. This new magazine is great and fits perfectly in my hand. I have big hands and the original mag left my little finger hanging half way off but was still a comfort fit, however, the new extended mag allows room for my entire hand. Awesome gun!

  • @stevenm322
    @stevenm322 8 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    I love this gun. It is really the perfect ccw out there. Small and slim, you carry it with the original 7-round mag in it. The 7-round mag makes the grip a bit shorter and easier to hide with the shorter grip. A great trigger and easy to become a great shot with this gun. You can carry 9 round magazines with you as easy as the 7. The extra length on the 9 rounder gives you a longer grip which is nice too. The little finger extension that comes with the gun is very nice too. I put the hogue handall jr that also has finger grooves and that makes the gun perfect for me to shoot with. The lasermax laser for this gun also is slim and trim and works great with this gun also. I never thought I would ever really like a small pistol like this but it shoots so great I am now a believer in this great slim pistol. P.S. At home next to me in bed I put in the 9-rounder with one in the chamber and I am ready for anything with 10 shots ready to go without stopping . I own one 7 and two 9 round mags and that is all I need. There are a lot of great holsters for this gun and many after market products if you like. Last, I bought the DeSantis holster for your pocket. It stops it from printing and covers the trigger nicely for safety. The outer tacky rubber outer skin , grabs on to your inner pocket cloth to keep it from pulling out with the gun. There is a little cut out you can draw the gun against the edge of you pocket if you feel like the holster is coming out with it. To keep it tacky just wipe with a cloth damp with windex now and then to keep the lint and dust off, so it stays better. It is just like a cell phone pad on your dash that holds it in place. I think you will love it.

    Thank you for thisnvideo. I am a newbie, a woman, a lefty, looking at wearing the belly band holster, and I go into Cabella's and look at 300+ guns thay kinda all look the same to me. Applied for my concealed 2 weeks ago and am now taking the month to deliberate and find one I am comfortable with. Still trying to get comfortable with something poking me in the hip when I sit and not think the thing will go off and shoot me randomly. I put this gun in the belly band holster in the store and tried to see if that safety would pop off and it's pretty hard to move, doesn't disengage when going in and out of elastic holster and doesn't snag on the holster. Can't say what it will do when it gets some wear on it and it gets looser.

    I spent a lot of time finding a comfortable conceal gun settling on this. Very happy with it. I think a lot of the decision process depends on what you wear on a daily basis.

    For the longest time with the lc9s I kept the chamber empty safety off. it had jammed on me the fire in Decatur is the PIN for the sheer. It had slit out enough to get in the way of the slide. Thankfully I was only at the range and had a 556 to push it in.

    Thank you Hickok. I saw a LC9s in my local gun store and it felt nice, but felt like i needed to watch a review of the gun first. So i went home, 3 hours later they called me up and said the one i was looking at had sold. they dont stay on the shelf long these days. so after i got threw your review of the LC9s, i saw on the right in the suggestions box another video from you. It was This video for the Pro model. after watching it I slept on it for a couple days, i stopped by the gun store and told them i wanted them to find me one. It was like fate. they had a limited edition gold slide Ruger LC9s Pro. The gold finish was stunning and made it so easy to write the check(i used a card). I'm plan on taking it shooting this Sunday right after the Seahawks beat the Panthers. I've been watching your videos for years, and I likely watched the videos you did on these rugers, and it didnt click in my head how nice of a gun they were until i saw one in the little store down town. its nice knowing i can come back to your channel, search for what I am looking at, and get an honest review of hundreds of firearms. Keep it up Sir. It's safe to say you are the most famous gun reviewer on the internet.

      +tom pelley , My Dad had a brand new Kimber Solo he took with us, so we both had new guns to try out. Kimber says you have to have expensive ammo for the solo, but at 700$ it was a total disappointment. We put threw 40 rounds of hot 9mm and it couldnt get threw one magazine. thats not acceptable. My LC9s pro on the other hand fired everything and anything we put threw it. It was a very naturaly accurate gun and so much of that is because of the trigger. Man i cant explain how well that trigger pulls. considerably nicer then my colt 1911 and glock 19. Summery of this is i spent half the price on my pistol that my dad spent on his, and he Wish he would have gotten this little ruger instead.

    LOVE MY RUGER LC9s-PRO paid $330 @ 7 years ago ..trigger is SO SWEET .. very accurate and first time at the range I put 400 rounds non-stop through mine not one jam or hiccup..7+1=8 .9mm . plenty of capacity for me.. liked the feel of it much better than the blocky Glock 43

    Nice to see they came out with a model without the thumb safety and the mag safety... I own the LC9s and immediately disabled the mag release safety, and took off the thumb safety.... was easy enough to do... but if I was buying another one, I'd definitely buy the pro model so I wouldn't have to disable them... the LC9s is a sweet little gun!

    I bought this a few years ago, but didn't know it was a no safety handgun. Only reason I got it was because it was $10 less than the non pro LC9s. The problem I have with it was finding a decent holster, everyone I tried was difficult to insert the gun and I dry fired a few times trying to get it in. I finally found a holster that works and can now insert and not worry about shooting myself in the ass. :) Accuracy has been superb and rapid fire very easy, though reman brass tends to jam while steel did not, but my CCW loads are nickel plated and fire nice. I found the Crossbreed mini tuck fits nicely, especially with my overly sized love handles.

    Hickok, you are a fabulous shot with just about any gun and to shoot as well with this one shows your mastery hands down. I have the LC9s Pro, got it after watching this. It's everything you say it is. Those on line who say it's not accurate just cannot shoot. It's a very light gun and I find it kicks harder than my GP100 when shooting .38 specials in it!

    hello all I recently acquired an lc9s not the pro version. and the magazine safety was driving me insane. so I did the mod to remove it. I now love it. i did leave at thumb safety on.
    note this should not be done unless you are an experienced operator.
    do it at your own risk.
    thanks to hickock45 and son for the awesome video's.

    This was an excellent and informative video, as we expect from you. It might not be worth the upgrade if one is used to the hammer-fired trigger. If I were to purchase another LC9, it would be the LC9s Pro.

    I was in the gun shop looking at a LC9s Pro, decided to buy it (sold mainly on the trigger, which is quite good). Guy went in the back to get me one in the box rather than chasing down the box for the display gun. Got home, found it was a non-Pro model. Oh well! It's a very long drive to get back there, and I hate another run through the bureaucracy, so I will live with it. I just don't care that much.
    Gun works pretty well. No jams yet. Got a slight trigger bite but to be expected with such a light gun and it wasn't enough to bother me. Grip is almost too thin for my taste, but hey. I did run into a (literal) snag with the magazine. When inserting it, I get a dead stop at the mag release. If I tilt the mag toward the button side it slides in fine, but tilt the other way and it stops dead, can't be forced. I'll have to remember that in the middle of a fire fight, heh. Could send it in, but who needs the grief? Maybe I'll take the release apart and see if something needs stoning.

    I own the LC9s (not the pro) and I love it. The thumb safety is always off and forgotten about. The magazine disconnect safety is not an issue for me. I wanted Glock to come out with a single stack 9mm but I got tired of waiting. This LC9s is the perfect carry gun. (IMO) I've had it since they came out. There was an issue with the guide rod and Ruger sent me a replacement. They've since fixed that issue.

    Owned the lc9s for 2yrs. Numerous times I would draw from the holster and when going to fire the stupid thumb safety would be on. I hated it. It also FTF about 5/6 times after 500 rounds.. Sold it and went with a Glock43 and love it. My G43 now has over 800 rounds thru it with no probs at all, It also fit into the lc9s holster perfect.

    Kudos, hickock45. Just watching you put rounds on target makes my day. I'd rather have your six than be downrange of you in a fight. I'm an Old School guy and a fan of .45 ACP, having toted one in Vietnam all those years ago. But, alas, it is 9mm time. I found the Ruger LC9S Pro on line for $329 and can't seem to pass it up.
    I'll have to burn up a few boxes of ammo behind the house until I meld with the trigger you praise. Thanks for the great videos and stellar advice.

    I was able to hold both the Pro and non-Pro version of this gun, and while holding the non-Pro version, I spent a good amount of time engaging and disengaging the thumb safety just to see how sensitive it was and I gotta say, it actually has a pretty good hold no matter which position it's in.
