    A throwback to almost 7 years ago when I took my first paramotor flight! I had almost forgot his footage existed! If you are feeling inspired to fly, definitely check out Aviator PPG linked in the description. Following this trend of quarantine content, I want to make a paramotor helmet build video next. Be very careful who you use for training. There definitely are some "instructors" out there that will gladly take your money and you get extremely little to no so called "training"..... and when he did have time for you, he wouldn't even teach reverse kiting at all. Didn't believe in it. Your friends, if you are so lucky to have some that do fly, will be the ones that actually end up training you. Be careful who you get. Aviator would definitely be a good choice.

Taking your mom up, the Icarus race, your mile-high adventure, overseas travels, when your lady came into the picture. All along, you have kept most of your youthful enthusiasm intact and love for the sport up front and center. Perhaps the day will come when you will share your flight and safety regime as an instructor. The best of the best are needed for that. Until then we will continue to enjoy your adventures.

    I also got started flying in Cessnas and got my private certificate at 21. At age 43 I decided to try this crazy thing I found called powered paragliding and 13 years later have never looked back. There is just no flying experience that can compare to low terrain flying in a PPG (my personal favorite type of flying in PPG). I still get the biggest smile watching the reaction of PPG pilots making their first successful takeoff and landing. I swear we all have the exact same exact reaction along with a smile we can't seem to erase from our face for days.

    Hi Tucker, I would appreciate if you could reply to this question I have for you. You make some AWESOME videos, and the scenery and vistas you capture from the air are nothing short of BREATHTAKING. You are a phenomenal videographer. I was curious..... How much does the complete set-up cost to start from scratch with? If I wanted to have the para-motor like you have and be able to get myself into the air (assuming I had a pilots license of course), how much does everything cost? I'm from the UK, but you can tell me in dollars etc. Keep up the amazing work bro. What para-motor would you recommend as a first craft for a beginner? Thanks.

    • @niconico3907
      @niconico3907 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      First thing is find a good school near you ( or not if you can get there) and get good training. Once you know how to fly, know if you like it enough to spend the money, and know what you want with this sport, you can talk with your instructor about what paramotor is good for you.
      That way, if you dont like it, you only spent the training money.
      If you buy before getting training, you might end up with expensive paramotor not suited to you, that can scare you or injure you because its competition paramotor instead of beginner.

    Here's two questions from somebody interested in getting into this, but I haven't seen it addressed on other channels so I'll ask it here;
    1. It seems that your arms would get tired in short order always having to keep them up like that so your hands can be on the brakes, detracting from the fun of the flight and making one feel rather exhausted by the time they were done. Unlike if one was flying an ultralight plane or helicopter. No?
    2. What wing, or top three, would you recommend for a newbie that would be good for them as a beginner and also might be satisfying to fly a year or so later once they have some more experience.

    • @duanetschmidt
      @duanetschmidt 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Michael RS 1. You can completely take hands off in many conditions with most wings. 2. Beginner wings from most of the major manufacturers work fine. There is also the question of whether to get a reflex wing. Different opinions on that for beginners. Talk to a competent instructor and read the PPG Bible by Jeff Goin. Also some good videos on TH-cam

    I remember my first flight in Mexico about 5 years ago. Really an unreal experience. Anyone that is on the fence about pursuing this as a hobby be prepared. Its a pretty big initial monetary investment, and continues to be. Definitely takes alot of dedication and isn't as easy as it looks from these videos. But the ability of pulling your paramotor out and taking off, seeing people look up in awe, its like the most james bond or superhero thing a person can do. It's worth it but be prepared to put in the effort required to get started. It's an amazing hobby, definitely becomes a real passion but not something you can just dabble with or kind of go in halfway.

    There is NO substitute for training in any endeavor. Be it paramotor, scuba, climbing or skydiving. Remember there are worse things than dying, like getting seriously messed up. Along with training, do listen to those who have experience and survived “close ones”. Tucker is huge wealth of knowledge.

      Yes, if there is something wrong with the engine, just shut it down, and glide to the nearest safe landing field.( remember its better to always fly where you can reach a nice open field without motor)
      If there is something wrong with the wing, shut down the engine, if you have enough height, try to sort the wing out.
      If you cant sort it out, or dont have enough time, throw the reserve parachute, and get ready for landing.
      But its always better to be Smart and avoid getting in trouble first.

    Tucker, I've been following your channel for some time now. This video in particular "hit home" for me. It reminded me of the thrill and emotions of my "First Solo" when I was getting my Private Pilot's License AND of my first SkyDive 23 Years Ago . . . after which I became a coach and instructor AND of my Son's first SkyDive for which I was his JumpMaster. I still actively SkyDive and my favourite segment of every dive is the canopy ride back to earth. I would Love to experience your sport, but at 63 years of age my old legs don't quite move as fast as they used to. I would sincerely appreciate your feedback on the physical requirements and aspects of paramotoring as I am seriously contemplating taking the training . . . assuming I am physically able to do so.

    Hi, Tucker, from Central Texas. Been binge watching your vids all week, looks like a lotta fun and you seem very 'down to earth' (pun, haha). PPL and A&P Mech retired. I think I might just bite the bullet and take lessons.

    I’m retired military and love aviation. I also love racing dirt bikes and bike road racing. I saw my first ppg 8 plus years ago and instantly knew it was for me…. Eventually. Motorcycling of the sky if u will. I am now counting days down for July 2022 , when my formal training begins. Although there’s a self taught desire and I’m certain I could do it, I’m paying to be legit. In the meantime, I like most others, am self educating with videos, books, etc. I can not wait for this new journey! After retirement, I’ve been missing a certain lifestyle and the associated adrenaline fix. Now I’m adding a parajet to the motorcycle stables hoping it will bring peace, relaxation, and some rush. Thanks for sharing your stories Tucker, they are inspirational.

    Enjoying the videos. Considering giving this sport a try! I got my PPL long time ago but full size aviation is expensive. Logged less than 100 hours. Enjoy flying RC planes too. In to drones now but this PPG thing just has my sensors tingling! I so want to try it! I’m 51 years old with a 20 year old mind. Hope my time isn’t running out!! Keep the videos coming!

    8K for the equipment, less if I buy used; which is probably a really bad idea for someone who knows nothing about it yet.. Then training cost.
    Something to save for, but probably out of reach financially for this 51 year old wanna be pilot. Thats ok I can enjoy the sport through your videos. I really need to follow you better so I can (dreaming) meet you next time you hit the Phoenix AZ area.

    I remember seeing my first paramotor when I was in kindergarten. The paramotor pilot flew over my school and landed in the field next to the school. It blew my mind at the time and it still blows my mind seeing your videos. Keep up the great work, Tucker! I am a pilot myself and your videos have been keeping my head up because of the great content you've been producing over the years. I can't wait to get back to flying once this pandemic is over!

    As a retired skydiver, one thing that would interest me in a future video would be to compare/contrast a paramotor wing with a sport parachute. Many things look familiar, but also foreign....would also be interested in your thoughts on if this experience would be helpful or detrimental to learning the sport (along with PP SEL rating).

It's not that I wouldn't, If I ever had that much cash in the same place I'd do it in a heart beat, but it'll never happen lol. Still may teach myself one of these days, but hearing so much about training man, idk...
