TEX AVERY ANIMATION AND LAYOUT BOOK.

IN THIS EPISODE: A look at an old Tex Avery book filled with layout drawings and a few animation drawings from Tex Avery’s MGM cartoons from the 40’s and 50’s, some of the funniest cartoons ever made. In this book, you get a look at what animation layout used to do in the old days. Shaded and rendered background drawings in graphite for the background painters, and placement of characters in red pencil to show the animators size and placement and basic poses of the characters. If you see the finished cartoons, you can freeze frame on a scene in the book and compare what the guys drew to what the scene looked like when finished. You can find Tex Avery DVDs on Amazon these days, you can watch a documentary about Tex on TH-cam if you want to see what kind of cartoons he made. There’s also a great documentary about the Warner Bros cartoon studio made by John Canemaker, titled, “The Boys From Termite Terrace”. Really well made from the mid 70’s, it was shown in two parts on Sunday morning programming back on a show titled, “Camera Three”.

Many years ago there was a bookstore here in Los Angeles that sold books from France, I don't think the bookstore is there anymore.
