Even the worst of the series, VHS Viral, has grown a bit of a following for at least trying something new

This franchise paved the way for analog horror to become a thing in mainstream movies.
If there was no VHS, there would be no Local 58, and if there was no Local 58, there would be no Backrooms by Kane Pixels.
And even further, if there was no Blair Witch Project, there wouldn’t be Paranormal Activity to lead to a movie like VHS becoming popular. Analog horror is basically the modern day spin on the found footage genre, at least to me. I even admit this genre has had an impact on my Sims 4 builds lately. I’ve just been incredibly inspired by all this stuff.

that actually happen to one of my brother friend on a garden sale he buy a vhs player and the people gave him tapes with that some movies like disney movies and other stuff like really weird video were a guy was enter other people houses watching them sleep or sometimes do fuckd up shit he never explain what he was doing exactly but that fucked him up (for what i know)
Or worse a fucken sex tape lol love you guys and love the goosebumps
VHS 2 has to be in the queue I hope. It features the best horror short they've done in the whole V/H/S franchise.

The Demon Girl, Lily actually has her own movie "Siren" which came out in 2016, it gives a bit more insight into who and what she is.
I love love both the short and Siren.
The alien impregnation thing literally feeds on my worst fears, made me lock my bedroom door for at least a month. For the longest time, i was convinced stuff was being done to me in my sleep, i kept waking up with scratches and stuff

The demon from the first segment actually got her own movie, called Siren! Same actress. I thought she was a succubus but I guess she’s a siren, I haven’t seen the movie.
No shes a succubus here. Sirens are from the sea.

@@btnhstillfire well be movie is titled Siren, so that’s why I am assuming she’s supposed to be a siren. Doesn’t really make sense to me, she didn’t use her voice to lure the men in. Succubus makes way more sense. Maybe they just didn’t want to title the movie Succubus.

Also, Wesley DOES look a little bit like Spider from the Glitch Killer segment. For real.
The first 2 V/H/S films do such a great job at feeling like snuff tapes you aren't supposed to watch, even if they don't always make sense (can you even convert saved video chats to tape?). The last 2 on Shudder not so much, but I appreciate some of the creativity behind them. And the less said about Viral the better.
I forgot all about VHS! Brings back a lot of college memories. This is the movie that turned me into a horror fan.
In case you’re curious to know who plays the girl demon thing from the first tape, the actress is Hannah Fierman. She’s absolutely gorgeous in real life. There’s also a spin-off of this particular segment in a full length feature film named Siren, so you’ll get even more of her playing that character! 😄

V/H/S 2 has fewer short films but the overall quality is better than the first, IMHO.

I love 94 and 99 a lot more than some people did. They're releasing 85 at some point.

VHS is always one that I love to recommend! The first time I ever watched it, I went in with very low expectations and was so pleasantly surprised with how good it was.

I'm excited to watch your other horror movie reactions. I'm obsessed with horror movies. I'm 51 yo and have been watching horror since before I can even remember. I saw The Omen when I was 5 yo and The Exorcist when I was 8 yo. So I'm old hat at this horror game. Halloween is my favorite slasher. Scream is probably 2nd favorite slasher.

My favorite thing about this franchise is that every segment is a total surprise. They can be about any type of horror.
Each movie is different.
The first one is the disturbing one.
VHS 2 is the scariest imo
VHS Viral doesn't exists lol (don't watch it)
VHS94 is a return to form, scary with a bit of camp.
VHS99 is the opposite, camp with a bit of scary.
wish the later vhs movies had this kinda scares and quality. like the first 2 films had me genuinely wincing every few seconds.
I like all the V/H/S movies with the exception of Viral.

Fun fact: The psychic storyline was written by the Black Phone people. That story also connects to Black Phone...the exposition is quite brief but the kid is related Gwen.... the little girl from Black Phone which explains the main point.
This first installment is an all time great in horror generally, and maybe top 3 in found footage. I mean, it’s not perfect but most of the stories are actually good, and they’re short enough to wear whatever gimmick they rely on doesn’t wear out its welcome.

I like Southbound even more than VHS! Love how the stories are all interconnected, and unlike the VHS movies I don’t think there’s even one dud.
