Finally watched/listened to your notes on your 10ga Bismuth load variant. Great job, Jon. This variant is a great option as well. I have found that the Rem hulls, while great for durability, really do not like that 2oz payload with the MM10 or TPS 10 wads unless the crimp is skived heavily (needed with the straight tubes that are available now). The SP10 and PT1044 wads accommodate the 2oz payload much better with the Rem hull. Now, if you really want to slam big honkers, cast/chill/tumble your own BB (.180”) pellets and use those for your payload. Pass-throughs possible at 50 yards, dead geese on impact out to 75-80. Start velocity of 1,250-1,300 is all that’s needed. Keep your powder dry. -Drake
I could have done a much better job of showcasing the patterns. I used this load successfully yesterday on three BIG honkers and two drake mallards. As for the bigger shot like you use, it’s tough for me to justify going to a shot size so large since I generally hunt geese and ducks at the same time. I don’t go out for just geese all to often. I would cast my own if they made a mold for smaller shot sizes.
Bismuth is really good in the 10 if you want heavier than steel but don’t want to spend too much on shot. With the patterns I got, it may be worth even trying 1-3/4oz shot to save a little more on payload cost.
I use bb for geese 1 1/2 doin 1450 fps it works good i,'ve killed alot of geese with it out past 40yrds its about the same price as bismuth here in canada its alot softter than tungston and harder than lead.@@avidwaterfowler7522
dude I need your help please everything going good until I get to the crimp it's pressing down way to much where it's making the shot-shell to fat when shooting it it gets stuck in the barrel I looked up everything I adjusted my steel master reloader and still doing it any advice thank you
What components are you using? Unfortunately, I am a visual person and would need to see the issue with my own eyes. Feel free to message me at avidwaterfowler@gmail.com and we can work through your issue. My guess would be that the final crimp and/or you need to back off on final crimp taper.
Great video, nothing like the big 10 but unfortunately I don’t see the up size to rolling it for waterfowl. 1 7/8 is awesome and bismuth is over half again heavier then steel. The 2# shot should hit harder then steel BB! Steels 8 grain per cc and bismuth is 9.6 grain per cc. That load should hit like a monster. I was running TSS18 I loaded 1 1/2 7# shot last year running 1300 fps and it fold goose & large ducks stone dead ☠️ at yardage. Very expensive great patterns at 50 yards. I also loaded TSS 10 shot 1 1/2oz and that would kill ducks no problem and beyond amazing patterns at 50 yards. These were all loaded in 12ga 2/34 Fioti clear hulls! I definitely need to pay more attention to sealing primers, I had one miss fire 🔥 out of two hundred plus hulls fired with that recipe. I really enjoyed the patterns of 7# & 10# shot duplex with 1 1/2oz running Steel power 34 grains. 35 grains is pretty maxed out on pressure and I wouldn’t suggest going over that with a 1.5oz with 12ga. That’s definitely where the big 10 shines as it can take the pressure. I could definitely easily load 1 7/8 with blue dot and TSS in a 2/34 12ga hulls. If your blowing through cases of ammo like some of my buddies then TSS for waterfowl is crazy talk! I really enjoy load it because that’s what I load for Turkeys as well. Sorry for rambling. Great video again.
Rolling your own for the 10 doesn’t make sense for everyone. For me, it’s perfect. I load 75% steel shot in the big 10. I find steel very sufficient for my typical ranges of fowl hunting. When I get smaller than the 10, I prefer bismuth or denser.
@@avidwaterfowler7522 I feel you brother, believe me I love the 10 gauge! I hunted with a single shot 10 gauge for over 20 years for spring turkey. Loaded my own 10ga shells for six of those years. Sadly, modern design of shotguns has kicked the 10 gauge mostly out of existence. I was a massive proponent of the 10 gauge until I started loading waterfall shells and saw the minimum amount of extra performance if you’re into TSS, or even bismuth to carry a shotgun that almost weighs twice as much doesn’t make sense to me. I must be getting old but I do love the old 10 gauge round. I have over 400 hulls here waiting to be loaded with all components of course!
@@avidwaterfowler7522 I loaded 1 7/8 TSS in a 2 3/4 Fiocchi clear hull running 36 grains of blue dot 🔵 that’s advertised to run 1350 fps give or take. That’s 7-10 shot great patterns!

Great video man
Thanks, Tyler!
Awesome I have been waiting for this one. Thanks
I am sure noone would complain if you made the loading video lok
I may work on that one once I get these other pattern videos out.
U r good at loading tryed a few of them keep up the good work
Thanks for the compliment!
Nice patterns i've never tried bismuth in my 10ga gold i use itx it works good i'd like to give bismuth a go in the future..

Did you end up doing a 10 gauge bismuth load video?
Yes, check my other videos I just posted it a few months ago.

I might have missed it but what speed are these loads?
About 1325-1350fps.
They are going roughly 1325-1350fps
