Interesting how this will all pan out between the Mavic and Karma. I think this will all come down to what you want to use it for. Personally I love the fisheye look of the GoPro cameras (for what I shoot) and getting the handheld stabilizer is HUGE. Having a camera I can take off and use for other things is HUGE. Being able to fly without using my phone is HUGE. All of those points above are for what I plan to use it for. But for a personal, small form factor, go anywhere drone...this Mavic looks pretty cool.

I love the Mavic Pro, the easiest drone to fly. I got it last week, with a couple youtube videos I was up on the air, it handles very easy. impressive footage, I did my editing with Final Cut. It is not only about portability, but also about the content you can get with one of this drones. DJI Mavic will be blown away with a little beat of wind, when karma is not only foldable, but also is very powerful drone. I would take this in to consideration before comparing it to Mavic. Mavic's size is not only an advantage, but also it's biggest weakness.
So cool. I've had Mavic for nearly a year now - used it once. I bought it especially for my trip to Iceland and it arrived a day after I got back. But not it's time to get to know the drone a bit better and start using it. Great introductory video - lots of great footage!
Do you know how drone sizing works? A lot of it are ranked into classes of size. The measurement taken diagonally from motor shaft to motor shaft. That size would be 250. Which is already overcrowded by the FPV racers and such size would not provide the essentials to carry the equipment such as gps, camera and gimbal needed for entry level consumers.

Without a doubt knowing what I know about these different cameras and Lenses The Mavic still offers more then a P4. Once a Lens mod is out for it it will most likely be the better product if it isn't already. I am aware there are a lot of people fixated on sharp unreal video game looking 4k image. however MORE professionals would rather have a cinematic almost film look which is what I like. I actually like the softer image. It makes it feel more like an expensive production vs yeah its just a 4k camera drone. thats just me. get the Mav and wait for the Lens mod. what I do not like is the Go App and the touch focus. So many people had issues in the past forgetting to hit record. Now they have to remember to hit record and remember to tap focus all the damn time. on a drone that never needed a tab to focus in the past.
Possibly a deal with GoPro where they let him try out the Karma under the condition that he couldn't review the Mavic until Oct 18th? Either that, or like this: Casey was sent the drone and told not to talk about it, then someone leaked some info about the Mavic, so DJI just said screw it, since it's partially leaked and the Karma was announced, let's just announce it. I have no clue lol those are just my guesses.

Another important question left unanswered is the lack of a gimbal lock when transporting. Does the mavic gimbal not need one? I see this ease of use; people just fold it up and throw it in a bag, but with all of the vibrations of walking/hiking/etc, without a gimbal lock would it not break?
I'm glad I bought the HTC Vive back in April, at least I'm now fully conditioned at waiting for pre-orders to take its sweet time to (hopefully) arrive...
Like with all DJI products... Good luck trying to get it in the air in the first place? Will DJI cover the drone when it glitches and crashes? I doubt it.
Looks decent but using a smartphone still puts me off, relays to heavily on software and 50% of the phantoms I see people need a good half hour to get the thing up in the air. For me the extra size of the GoPro doesn't bother me specially the fact I can use the camera separately 2 for the price of 1 with GoPro. Maybe I'll consider the Mavic Pro 3 when they've sorted all the glitches out.

GPS lock will keep it centered. I think we saw in the video the windy situations and it didn't look like it was drifting.
Verge already tested it in 14mph winds (exact speed im not sure) they said it handled the wind like a beast.
Yeah, the Karma is still pretty portable... plus you can take out the gimbal and go handheld.

Another important question left unanswered is the lack of a gimbal lock when transporting. Does the mavic gimbal not need one? I see this ease of use; people just fold it up and throw it in a bag, but with all of the vibrations of walking/hiking/etc, without a gimbal lock would it not break?

Looks decent but using a smartphone still puts me off, relays to heavily on software and 50% of the phantoms I see people need a good half hour to get the thing up in the air.
For me the extra size of the GoPro doesn't bother me specially the fact I can use the camera separately 2 for the price of 1 with GoPro.
Maybe I'll consider the Mavic Pro 3 when they've sorted all the glitches out.
B Jiang believe it once I've tried it hopefully they'll prove me wrong I love the look of the thing, also apparently u only need 2 minutes to setup phantom but I've got one and I assure u somedays no probs other days it's B*tch !!! constant signal issues!!
You think DJI, with several generations of drones under their belt, including professional cameras used for filming movies, is going to have glitches and yet GoPro's very first drone is going to be glitch free? Good luck with that.
