Important steps for new people always before flying: 1. Make sure you know how to return your drone to your home location if you loose sight of it. 2. Set the height higher than any building nearby in case you loose sight of it. 3. When it says low battery and suggests to return home, return home. 4. watch for airplanes etc.
I've been flying DJI products since their VERY FIRST FLYING CAMERA ("drone"). I started out way back when Colin Guinn was the head of DJI America. I was at a NAPP conference and he was there and I got to meet him and I'll never forget, Colin was there to unveil the Phamtom 2.0 which had that big bulky camera connected to it (as opposed to the original Phantom which required you to purchase your own GoPro and attached it to the underside and had no gimbal to pan the camera. There is a mic on the GoPro so you'd hear all the annoying noises that the original, cheap, crappy props made). I have had literally every iteration of the Phantom series, 3 Inspires - 1 Inspire and 2 Insprire Pro Professional models. All that said, I LOVE LOVE THE MAVIC PRO PLATINUM so much. I could list the reasons but there's just so many great things about this little aircraft it'd be a very long list.
Just got ours today, ordered total of 3 extra batteries and a GPC military grade case with cutouts for everything, really nice product and probably the best for the price
Just got 1 today. Ordered from DJI. They said it would ship after the 18th, and be delivered by 10:30 this morning; and it was. Thrilled. Great starter video.(and camera guy). Amazingly smooth video without having tripod mode on--no motion at all at 170'. Thanks!!
I got mine last Friday !! ( I feel like a child ,LOL) I trying now pictures, and the resolution is awesome ! I will try flying out of my neighborhood first. ,let you know guys
Fidelito in South Florida They should automatically be in the editor section of the DJI Go app. There should be lower resolution versions of the pictures and videos you have shot. You can download the full resolution versions in the editor if you have connected to your aircraft and save them to your mobile device as well.
I've watched loads of reviews, as a customer waiting for my mavic I found yours to be one of the best, straight forward to the point and informative.... thank you for taking the time
Kelly. Thx to you and your Son for the video. It's been very informative. I've always loved anything that flies. My Son got me interested in drones a couple years ago and have wanted one I could fly since. Alas, I'm pushing 70 yrs. with one leg and a really bad spine it's been hard for me to justify buying a system unless it could compensate for my disabilities. After a few intermittent systems, my Son finally purchased a Phantom 4. He dropped by during Thanksgiving and flew it for me. He also down loaded a few videos he'd taken off the coast of Humbolt where he lives that are just breath taking. Needless to say, I was impressed but the system proved just too bulky for me. I'm not nearly the pilot that he has become and I certainly can't go around chasing the thing anymore. Then he told me about the Mavic PRO. I did my research on the PRO and knew that this was the guy for me. I just ordered one along with an advanced kit offered through Drone World here in Ca.. It comes with two extra batteries, gang charger, carry case, extra chips... Just a load of extra doohickeys and thingamabobs. All for $1,500. I'm really looking forward to using this little beast. That and it'll make one heck of a neat little high tech cat chaser (much too the chagrin of my poor cat Booger I'm sure). It's hard to believe the quality of technology that's been engineered into these little machines. Wish me luck and have fun with yours.
Thanks for the note Paul. The Mavic is amazing and I think you will have a great time flying it. I would recommend that you buy a less expensive drone to practice on as well Syma X5C, Syma X5UC or Syma X5UW are all great and less than $100 USD. They are actually harder to fly than the Mavic, but that's what makes them useful. Get good at flying those and the Mavic will be a breeze! Thanks again for your note and please let me know how your first flight with the Mavic goes!
Thx Kelly. Mine won't be here til around Jan-Feb as they're backlogged. My Son Jordan had bought me a practice drone with which to learn. Was doing fairly well til a motor froze on it. Lol. I'm fine as long as it's going away. It's when it's heading back I tend to have problems. That and walking to get too it. It's funny. I've designed and build scores of aircraft all my life, just never quite got the knack of remote piloting. Not like hang gliding. Went out, bought a kite and taught myself how to fly. For me, that was natural. What sold me on the Mavic is that it should in large part compensate for my limited mobility. It would be fun to be able to fly with my Son and grandson. I glad you can have this time with your son together. Alas, I wish I still could. Cherish your time.
People can calling you in that time, and that is not cool, i'm always was unhappy when somebody called me in that moment(my experience Phantom 3 + Iphone 6) But maybe, you can turn on Fly Mode and everything gonna be ok.
no problem, I have invested quiet some time watching your video over and over , I also learned that they have insurance for my drone with 0 deductible so I insured it because I am sure as being new to this hobby I will crash it somewhere and it is hard to come up with another 1k to buy another one.
Hi, you said that you flew this before the backyard demo. When you were in the yard and a upgrade came in, did you not have to do a calibration and other settings again? And later did you do a complete setup, if not could you. I am talking, (1) Take out box. (2) After props and battery are installed, turn on Controller, Drone and Tablet. (3) Go through all settings. ---> Just for a base line. Or when the update is complete is all this done and we really don't have to. If you did setup please send link. Thanks
Thanks for a good short introduction of the Mavic Pro. I just got my new Mavic today after 7 weeks in order. (Denmark) The batteries are being charged now, and tomorrow I'll get a new 7 "Tablet (Do NOT have Iphone) And then I'm ready for first test flight for the weekend. BR.
As for the clamp hiding the home button of the iphone, you can use Dremel tool to cut a semicircular hole to gain access to it. Or write to DJI to include the semicircular hole in their next batch of production.
That's good advice. It seems like DJI would have thought that people would want access to the home button on an iPhone. But the easiest work around is to take the phone out each time. It works, but it's a bit of a pain. Dremel tool is probably the best way to go. Thanks for watching!
I'm interested in buying the Mavic, will be watching any complaints that may come up from the first users. Hope DJI will listen to their customer base and improve their product in the next production run. Thanks for pointing out the inconvenience of having to remove the phone to access the home button. It should be a trivial fix by modifying their subcontractor's molding fixture. Anyway, perhaps a third party will come with an alternate holding fixture to accommodate a larger display such as the ipad mini.
Honestly, I ordered mine the day it came out, so I got one from the first runs. DJI came out with four firmware patches before I got mine. and the app is being updated all the time. They just came out with the DJI Go 4 app to replace the original, its a lot more polished and they have included newer offerings from the Mavic Pro, Phantom 4/4+, Inspire 2 and I believe the new Matrice. Between the firmware releases and app updates, DJI has outdone themselves.
Rumors is they will come out with Phantom 5. A more frequent model change than the car makers. Unless you travel a lot, there is no much place to fly near home. Each town has its own ordinances, I doubt the council members have ever flown a drone. Noise abatement should not be used an excuse. When flying 150 ft. and above, the noise level is less than the commercial airplanes.
Thank you (and your son) for taking the time to create these videos and sharing them with us. I am researching drones for my husband's birthday gift in a few weeks, and these videos have been incredibly helpful to me. I was so glad to hear you mention that "you can barely hear it." Noise is the #1 reason I am now looking into the Mavic Pro instead of the Phantom 4 Pro that I was initially leaning toward. To what extent does the noise difference between drone models impact where/when you are comfortable flying? Have you ever chosen not to fly in a certain area (like your neighborhood) because of drone noise, or has noise ever influenced your choice of which drone to fly on a given day? Bottom line: I'm hoping that by going with the Mavic Pro, the lower noise level will enable my husband to fly in places where a louder drone might attract too much attention. We live in a densely populated part of Houston, and our neighbors have guns, too!
Just a note that at about the 11:20 mark the view is of front of the camera. I thought that I saw the tab of the little protective (I think) pull off plastic on top of the gimbal. I noticed it on mine today and removed it. I am pretty sure that it does not need to be there. I found a few others of these on the corner of the legs as well on mine and they have the same color tab on them.
Great video, thanks. I have an Inspire 1, and my Mavik pro just shipped. Will be a few months until deployment is over, can't wait to play with the Mavik!! Keep posting vids!!
Hey being the lazy Schlub that I am any chance you could show how to use the "follow" feature ? Your presentation is great . You make it very smooth to follow along to. Thank you for sharing your time.
Kelly. Well, it's finally arrived. Had to upgrade to a smart phone which is learning process in and of itself. Gonna take my time and learn this thing properly. Thanks for your videos. They're EXTREMELY informative. Can't wait til I have enough under my belt to really get out there and make some great shots. My Son already wants to use it. He's got a mining claim up here which he wants to survey. Lol. Told him he's at least gotta wait til dad gets the thing in the air first. 'Kids'. Gotta love 'em. He's got a nice Phantom 4 but know he wants a Mavic bad. I'll talk him into it. Thx again for your videos.
Lol. Thx. Now if and when I can figure out how to get 'Grey Eagle' off the ground. Sorry to admit but I'm totally illiterate when it comes to smart phones (which I had to purchase) and finally got the DJI GO 4.0 downloaded. Hey, at least I've managed to get the controller to talk to the drone so far (about 2 a.m..). Just takin' my time and trying to learn it right. Looks like it's gonna be fun. My Son wants to use it bad. I'll get him to get one, you watch. He's in Tenn. working right now, darn it. Thx again for the awesome videos. Please be well.
Thank you thank you and thank you!!!! You have saved me bunch of headaches. My brain was about to explode trying to figure out how to set up my drone, I was missing simple steps and my controller wouldn't light up until I came accross your video. . J ... you are a life saver. You got yourself a new subscriber. Thank you!
What about calibrating the gps also 30 frames you should set shutter at 60 might be useful to send drone up 34 feet for a bit before you move it so it can spot the return to home properly
Hi I just have a quick question, is the Mavic Pro still worth it in 2018 or should I go with the Mavic Air. OcuSync on the Mavic Pro is very good but it is just the gimbal I’m concerned about; does it flop around easy? Has yours ever broken?
Reference to some lousy comments. Your son is smart and will be a great cameraman. Congratulations! He needs a gimbal for your camera though, but still, it is a great video and I also learned a lot. Meanwhile, going through a lot of the comments, I must commend you for your patience as some of those guys are very rude and could do with some attitude tutorial... Got my Mavic Pro 5 days ago and have not yet dared using it. First-time drone user. The weather in the UK is not nice so far. Been watching loads of tutorials and some are confusing. I wish you had told us about the beginner's mode... I surely will start this way, in spite of all the excellent tips in yours and others videos. I did order some propeller guards (they are huge). Would you recommend fitting them for first flight? Thank you for sharing. Cheers.
Thanks for the comment! I read this book called "Hug Your Haters" and it gives some good reasons to have patience with all the rude people out there. Anyway, regarding the Mavic Pro. I would definitely wait for a good, clear, and calm wind day. Regarding the prop guards. I would say yes, to using them if you are in a smaller space. Even a back yard with a fence. However, if you can find a big open spot, you won't need them. And, if it's windy, I would not use them because they definitely make the Mavic more susceptible to wind. Main thing is just to practice hovering, flying low, rotating left and right. Check out this video for some basic moves to practice while you are learning to fly. th-cam.com/video/KRzKkjskhEw/w-d-xo.html Good luck with your first flight! And, again, thanks for the kind words!
I'm thinking of using one of these to check my gutters for blockage, without having to crawl up on a ladder. Do you think there would be an issue with flying close enough to the gutter to get an adequate view?
Ok. I bought the fly more package , however I can't seem to connect the controller to the quad or the app or even get updates , its all completely dead from scratch , any advice , , my £1359 is a n expensive dust collector , I bought it at 20:20 it's now 23:22 batteries all charged Yawn what a wait , and I'm still not airborne , could you advice?
I know this certainly old is a Post. My question is, how do make my Samsung Tablet connect with my DJI Mavic Proves yours does..? I've tried w/G21 Samsung and still it won't connect.. Any clues as what I should do next..?
Two questions come to mind. Is the controller bound to the Mavic? Has it worked with other Android devices? I'd suggest trying a different cable. Maybe a USB cable plugged from the larger USB-A port on the controller to the USB-C port on your phone. Make sure it's a data cable, rather than a charging only cable. If you have access to an iPhone, try that, as iOS devices usually have fewer problems with DJI's drones. Sorry I can't be of any more help. I hope you can get it working soon!
Had trouble getting my controller/android phone to connect to the Mavic. Finally did after some frustrating moments watching videos, manual etc. Not sure what the problem was. Might have been as simple as turn everything off and turn back on in sequence shown. Wish I knew.
Instead of connecting my iPhone to the drone can I put my iPad in there? And once I have flown it and recorded stuff or taken photos how do I then transfer or play back what I’ve just recorded ?
I was told you need to use the micro usb lead that comes with the Mavic and not a standard usb one because you can damage the usb port on the controller with the standard type that you would use for your android phone
THe bubble needs to be removed when flying because it prevents air flow needed by the drone to keep it's inner motors from over heating. In addition, there is so much glare when left on,
excellent review THANK YOU., D5 BUTTON/TOGGLE THINGY ? Manual gives just a brief description ?? WHEN you have the time can you go over that ? When I played with it the drone spun on its axis , I guess changing from landscape to portrait ? Interesting. ALSO,, what features can you change/adjust/modify when the drone is airborne ? Your videos (in MY opinion) are the best out there. Thank You !
Thanks! Yes - I'm working on a detailed overview of the functions. Just takes some time to learn them all. Should have that video up in the next 2 weeks. Thanks for watching!
Hello, Saw your video, thanks for posting it. after calling DJI, it seems that the plastic cover (that kind transpartent shell) can be kept in flight. This may affect the quality of the video but in case of crash or water proejction it's safer to have it. according to them, it should not cause any heat problem. do you have any comment on this after using your mavic for a while ?( i just got mine & since 'm a beginner i prefer to keep the plastic cover in case i mess up...:)) thanks
Great & inciteful videos. I am unable to 'connect' the receiver w/ the Mav Pro. I am having the same problem w/ wifi & RC. Any thoughts? It is suppose to come linked.... Thank you
Yes - it should be linked. But here is an article I found about how to do it if it comes unlinked. www.heliguy.com/blog/link-dji-mavic-pro-remote-controller-with-aircraft/ Hope that helps!
Great Video... I just got in a Mavic Pro and needed a good video for my customers. Yours will work great. Have you checked out the Eclipse Rovers for when you can't fly you Mavic? I think that you will like what they can do.
Got my dji today. What sd card size would you recommend if I want to record in 4k. How much space does, lets say, a 10 minute video take? Im worried my 16gb card is not enough.
did that firmware update do everything all in one go? Drone, Battery, Controller ? and how do you do extra batteries? Firmare not held on SD Card this time like Phantom then ?
Thanks for the video, this is really quite a awesome Machine. When you mentioned the mandatory software upgrade, ice began to wonder if DJI has control of all drones at any particular time? In other words can they program drones to not work?
hi, nice video thx . Question, when you were flying, are you on beginner mode? When i turned on my mavic inside the house, it did not want to fire up the propeller. by the way, this is the frist time I am flying a drone. Please pardon my ignorance. thx again
I absolutely love my mavic I've only been able to fly in front of my house up about 200 feet view of Mt Rainier out maybe 400 feet we got a lot of huge pine trees. got to go down buy the Sound to get a more open area.here in WA,
Thinking about getting one and was wondering if I can connect a galaxy s6 phone to it. But It's a spare phone I have laying around with no phone signal, everything else works on it or does it need phone signal?
I spent 5 or more minutes just to plug in my Galaxy S7 Edge into these controller's clamps... Dji must look at this issue with care in the next generation of Mavic. Great video btw. It show us the real world and the hard steps of "behind the scenes", not just fancy footage and paradisiacal landscapes. Thanks for sharing and keep up the good work!
Im just got mine...and I am testing it out for the first time today but I am nervous and have lots of anxiety about crashing it, considering I paid a pretty penny for it.
Due to some glitches in the YT server, it stated your video was private, and later said the video had been taken off. I cannot click on the 'reply' button to email you back.
I just got one tonite. I can't seem to figure out how to turn off the remote control, which it kept staying on and alarm keep going off and any advice? It wasn't easy to figure this out on my own until i saw your video.
For the power on the remote and the drone, you push the power button once quickly and then a second time and hold it down until it powers on or off. Hope that helps!
Can I ask, is it ok to leave the "fishbowl" piece on the gimble to protect the sensitive gimble? I'm thinking of leaving the bit on to prevent any nasty muck and dust to ham the camera
So the only possible thing that it could do is cause the Mavic to heat up more than it should. If you notice there is an air vent right behind the camera that takes in air to cool the Mavic. Leaving the fishbowl on partially blocks that vent, which could cause heat issues. I'd say if it's a cold day, then you could leave it on, but on warm days, I would recommend taking it off!
Great introduction to the new Mavic. On setting up it appears to be a "turn on" and fly. did you have to do any prefight adjustments i.e:IMU, Compass calibration dance, etc?
Can you zoom inn the camera, once in the air to take pics or video? Does it have a safety warning to fly back because battery is low and it wont crash? Can you record voice while you are filming, like describing what the camera sees?
No zoom on the camera...just have to fly closer to your subject to "zoom in". Yes, it will automatically land when the battery reaches the "critical" point. No way to record audio - DJI video files only have video on them, no audio track. Good questions! Thanks for watching!
Hello Kelly: Thanks so much for video; I am looking at the DJI Mavic AS MY FIRST FORAY INTO DRONE SPACE. Some newbie questions...I do not have a smart phone (I have never needed one, believe it or not), so how would you update the controller/remote and drone without a phone; can it be done with laptop/PC? Second somewhat related...if I don't have phone but want to do visuals via goggles, can the Mavic connect to, say, the new FatShark Dominator HD3 FPV goggles?
You can fly the Mavic without a phone or tablet, but you don't get a live feed that way. The Ocusync is designed to work with the DJI Go app, which runs on iOS or Android. I don't think you can do it with a laptop either. I do know that DJI has a cable that you can purchase to fly a Phantom with Fat Shark goggles, but I have never used it. My best suggestion would be to buy a Phantom 3 or Phantom 4, and use it with a cheap, Wifi-only tablet. That would work and you would not need cell phone service. You might be able to get the Mavic to work with a small Wifi-only tablet as well, but I have not actually seen that work. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
Will this work with a Galaxy s5. I've had mine for almost a month and still haven't been able to even get the rotors to turn. The RC seems to once connected with the app on my Galaxy but now it won't do anything. I still haven't been able to activate it yet. And why is activation needed to fly the drone? What's the purpose of activation. I've ordered an Iphone and hope that gets it to work.
Hi, enjoyed your video. Just about to buy my first drone. When you were at 170 ft and 300ft away how did you fly back to your position. If you hit your home key does it maintain altitude and then come down at your launch position. Brad.F
Thanks. One way to fly back home is to use the telemetry on the controller. Basically, you can look to see if you are getting closer (the distance number is going down) or further (distance number is going up). Or, if you are flying in a familiar area, you can just do it based on landmarks. When you hit return to home, the drone automatically climbs to a preset altitude and then comes home and lands. You want to make sure your altitude is taller than the trees or buildings around you. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
I have a problem with my DJI Mavic. When I go to adjust the gimbal tilt, it only gives me two options. Looking straight ahead or looking straight down. If I push the 5D stick up or down, it switches from one view to the other. Is there a setting I need to mess with to allow more control of gimbal tilt?
There should be a setting in the DJI Go app that allows you to adjust the gimbal settings, including the speed at which it moves. But you should be able to make it tilt down at any angle you want.
awesome video I have a question I am very interested in getting one when they have plenty in stock to ship but how is the controls ? I have never purchased a drone before and am very interested in this one and was wanting to know how well it would do for a beginner that has no flight time experience .
I know all the neighbors right around my house and they are fine. Generally, if I'm flying over houses further away, I go up to at least 200 feet and I don't hover over houses. But I am aware that I should be careful and considerate when flying in my neighborhood. Thanks for watching!
getting a mavic probably this week. but i did some research and i dont think my phone is usb otg compat ... is there anyway around this or will it b a issue?? thx agian
HELO FROM FLORIDA. ,can you tell me the fly off rate on these mavics ,and what exact fc the mavic is running ,is it the naza light ,v2.v3.or wookong? Is it somthing you can do with the androidbecause it starts crashing as soon as i load it so i cant update this thing unless i do it with the v2 gui, also can you tell me is the celieng for this drone 2000 ft?
Thanks for your help I really like how you describe things to help me understand which drone I want. However Im struggling between the Karma and the Mavick. Any suggestions. I like the Karma but I hate the battery time and I like to fly
I owned a Karma when they first came out. The Mavic is a much better drone for size and flight time. I wish the Karma was a better drone, but honestly, I would compare it to the Phantom 2 or 3 in terms of it's size and technology. It's behind the Mavic in almost every way in my opinion.
Are there ever going to be any new small rtf tri-copters with brushless motor or drones/uav (under faa weight) with new mechanical features coming out soon? Hopefully soon, cuz I'm kind of getting bored of the drones/uav/quadcopters that are all kind of the same and lacking new features. For example; retractable landing gears and tilt motors are the only once that different from the other RC uav's. But, are not under faa weight. Please! help spread the word to the RC companies for more great flying experience:)
Just bought Kevin's old Mavic Pro. Even though this drone is no longer manufactured (discontinued) I'm still happy to own it as it still is a decent bird for photos and video. I plan to get my FAA drone certification and using this drone for weddings and other projects. Thanks for making this intro video 4 years ago. Yes, even old videos are still relevant :)
I have an answer for the home button issue that you have when the phone in the case. Go into iPhone setting and activate the virtual home button, that will give you a home button on the screen that you can put anywhere. Only question is did you have to pay for the drone ? Or did they send it to you for review ?
Thanks for that. I was not aware of the virtual home button. Great to know! Unfortunately, I'm not big enough to get free stuff from DJI yet, so I bought the Mavic just like everyone else.
170 feet high up and rock solid like a tripod. this thing is awesome!
Great video. The shitty manual didn't even explain how to remove the props among other things.
Important steps for new people always before flying: 1. Make sure you know how to return your drone to your home location if you loose sight of it.
2. Set the height higher than any building nearby in case you loose sight of it. 3. When it says low battery and suggests to return home, return home.
4. watch for airplanes etc.

I got mine last Friday !! ( I feel like a child ,LOL) I trying now pictures, and the resolution is awesome ! I will try flying out of my neighborhood first. ,let you know guys

Mathiasbredesen nope , only in the SD Card , is that wrong ?
Fidelito in South Florida They should automatically be in the editor section of the DJI Go app. There should be lower resolution versions of the pictures and videos you have shot. You can download the full resolution versions in the editor if you have connected to your aircraft and save them to your mobile device as well.

Maybe sound stupid my question but using the iPhone what about phone calls ? , I mean calls are block as long you use the app ?
That's a great question! I will test that this week when I'm shooting my next video. Thanks!
People can calling you in that time, and that is not cool, i'm always was unhappy when somebody called me in that moment(my experience Phantom 3 + Iphone 6) But maybe, you can turn on Fly Mode and everything gonna be ok.
Easy, puf your phone in airplain mode...
thanks
Fidelito in South Florida there's a do not disturb function on the iphone
As a new owner I appreciate your video, I loved it and watched it all the 20 minutes thank you
Glad to hear it! Safe flying!
no problem, I have invested quiet some time watching your video over and over , I also learned that they have insurance for my drone with 0 deductible so I insured it because I am sure as being new to this hobby I will crash it somewhere and it is hard to come up with another 1k to buy another one.
I just bought my DJI Mavic Pro tonight. Charging now and, after watching this video I can't wait to start playing
Awesome! Good luck with your first flight!
Thank you!
Thanks
you haven't show to calibrate the drone...
Love the video and as I am learning it from my son so nice to see involving your son and sharing great time together.
Thanks! My son is in many of my videos. Thanks for the comment!
My Mavic Pro comes tomorrow, I can't wait. will be coming back to this video for sure.
Thanks for a good short introduction of the Mavic Pro.
I just got my new Mavic today after 7 weeks in order. (Denmark)
The batteries are being charged now, and tomorrow I'll get a new 7 "Tablet (Do NOT have Iphone)
And then I'm ready for first test flight for the weekend.
Thanks for the tip! And thanks for watching!
Doug, good catch - and in fact the Assistant 2 may not allow camera calibration with the transparent thumbnail-sized plastic protectors in place.
so did you have to focus by pressing the screen? it looks as if it were infinite focus. looks great.
BEST MAVIC PRO TUTORIAL ON TH-cam! HANDS DOWN!
Awesome! Thanks for the comment. You just made my day!
Great video, thanks. I have an Inspire 1, and my Mavik pro just shipped. Will be a few months until deployment is over, can't wait to play with the Mavik!! Keep posting vids!!
Thanks! Loving the Mavic. I don't have an Inspire, but hoping to get ahold of a DJI P4 Pro soon!
Awesome! Happy and safe flying!
Lol.
Thank you!
Glad to hear it! Thanks for sharing that comment - made my day!
Should you be picking it up and jostling it around while it is updating?
Didn't seem to hurt it at all. But you may be right. Thanks for the comment.
Good video !!!
I bought one yesterday, but I am watching as many videos as possible before I fly it.
Thanks for the video !
What about calibrating the gps also 30 frames you should set shutter at 60 might be useful to send drone up 34 feet for a bit before you move it so it can spot the return to home properly
I just bought mine and waiting for delivery, I'm so excited I can't wait to take it for a flight!!! Thanks for the video!
Hi Thanks for the video. I am going to shoot in a swimming pool. when water drops hit the impeller, will that drop the drone ?
Check out this video for some basic moves to practice while you are learning to fly. th-cam.com/video/KRzKkjskhEw/w-d-xo.html
Good luck with your first flight! And, again, thanks for the kind words!
I'm thinking of using one of these to check my gutters for blockage, without having to crawl up on a ladder. Do you think there would be an issue with flying close enough to the gutter to get an adequate view?
Hi "Ready Set Go".I recently got my Mavic and enjoying it.
Ok. I bought the fly more package , however I can't seem to connect the controller to the quad or the app or even get updates , its all completely dead from scratch , any advice , , my £1359 is a n expensive dust collector , I bought it at 20:20 it's now 23:22 batteries all charged
Yawn what a wait , and I'm still not airborne , could you advice?
Have the Mavic 2 pro love it and that remote with my iPad on it. Do you still have it ? 👍👍✌️
Had trouble getting my controller/android phone to connect to the Mavic. Finally did after some frustrating moments watching videos, manual etc. Not sure what the problem was. Might have been as simple as turn everything off and turn back on in sequence shown. Wish I knew.
Yeah - sometimes a "hard reset" is just what these things need! Thanks for the comment!
Instead of connecting my iPhone to the drone can I put my iPad in there? And once I have flown it and recorded stuff or taken photos how do I then transfer or play back what I’ve just recorded ?
Your info is great and slow, thorough enough to remember
I see a lot of Mavic videos from unboxing to flying, but they miss this specific clip that you just did. Very informative. thanks for posting.
Thanks! I really appreciate that.
Thanks for sharing this! We just got ours - here's hoping it transforms our travel films
Please do a set up review like this one for the Mavic Air, thanks!
In addition, there is so much glare when left on,
When are these readily available for purchase....... they are saying it's a 7 to 8 weeks out for delivery........
can u teach how to caliber the mavic before start fly pls?
excellent review THANK YOU., D5 BUTTON/TOGGLE THINGY ? Manual gives just a brief description ?? WHEN you have the time can you go over that ? When I played with it the drone spun on its axis , I guess changing from landscape to portrait ? Interesting. ALSO,, what features can you change/adjust/modify when the drone is airborne ? Your videos (in MY opinion) are the best out there. Thank You !
Thanks! Yes - I'm working on a detailed overview of the functions. Just takes some time to learn them all. Should have that video up in the next 2 weeks. Thanks for watching!
I have been searching videos on how to fly and this video is really the best so far. Thanks!
Hello,
Saw your video, thanks for posting it.
after calling DJI, it seems that the plastic cover (that kind transpartent shell) can be kept in flight.
This may affect the quality of the video but in case of crash or water proejction it's safer to have it.
according to them, it should not cause any heat problem.
do you have any comment on this after using your mavic for a while ?( i just got mine & since 'm a beginner i prefer to keep the plastic cover in case i mess up...:))
thanks
At initial set-up, with completely drained battery, how long does it take to charge the remote controller?
Great & inciteful videos. I am unable to 'connect' the receiver w/ the Mav Pro. I am having the same problem w/ wifi & RC. Any thoughts? It is suppose to come linked.... Thank you
Yes - it should be linked.
But here is an article I found about how to do it if it comes unlinked.
www.heliguy.com/blog/link-dji-mavic-pro-remote-controller-with-aircraft/
Hope that helps!
Great Video... I just got in a Mavic Pro and needed a good video for my customers. Yours will work great. Have you checked out the Eclipse Rovers for when you can't fly you Mavic?
I think that you will like what they can do.
can you please do a review of dji mavic propeller guard vs cage
Got my dji today. What sd card size would you recommend if I want to record in 4k. How much space does, lets say, a 10 minute video take? Im worried my 16gb card is not enough.
did that firmware update do everything all in one go? Drone, Battery, Controller ?
and how do you do extra batteries?
Firmare not held on SD Card this time like Phantom then ?
Just bought one tonight. Can't wait to fly it. Never flew on yet.
The plastic protector bubble sohuld be removed before flying otherwise you are blocking the cooling air intakes behind the camera gimble assembly.
Please pardon my ignorance. thx again
I absolutely love my mavic I've only been able to fly in front of my house up about 200 feet view of Mt Rainier out maybe 400 feet we got a lot of huge pine trees. got to go down buy the Sound to get a more open area.here in WA,
do you know if the self certify feature has been implemented yet in the dji go app for people that live near air fields? tks
Thanks. Yes! Plugging in the phone is the worst part of the Mavic. Thanks for watching!
Im just got mine...and I am testing it out for the first time today but I am nervous and have lots of anxiety about crashing it, considering I paid a pretty penny for it.
Due to some glitches in the YT server, it stated your video was private, and later said the video had been taken off. I cannot click on the 'reply' button to email you back.
how does this drone connect with more "modern" android phones that have USB-C? Is the adapter included or must it be purchased separate?
I just got one tonite. I can't seem to figure out how to turn off the remote control, which it kept staying on and alarm keep going off and any advice? It wasn't easy to figure this out on my own until i saw your video.
For the power on the remote and the drone, you push the power button once quickly and then a second time and hold it down until it powers on or off. Hope that helps!
You guys did a great job with this video.
Did you have any interference or other issues flying around the cell tower?
We did not - very clear signal both video and control! Thanks for watching!
I just got my Dji mavic pro in time for my vacation I cannot wait to use it. Thanks for the great video
I did calibrate the compass before I started. But other than that, and updating the software, it was a pretty easy set up!
They (DJI) recommend calibrating the compass whenever you change flight locations. It's a very easy process and does seem to help.
Thanks for watching!
no calibration of IMU or Compass after Firmware update - thats not good advice
Agreed poor review if this is not included, most important calibration you must do.
Thank you. Just got my dji mavic and cant wait to get started. Great beginners guide.
Nice video so you can update firmware on your phone or do you need to do it on your computer?
You can definitely fly it. It's not too difficult. But, I'd suggest getting a cheaper drone to learn on first. Thanks for watching!
Thank you i appreciate it
Thanks for this video. I just received my drone and plan on taking it for a spin tomorrow. Wish me luck!
Good luck!
Can I link one remote to more than one mavic? Thanks👍
Great video. Interested in getting one but I also live in Texas, san Antonio. Have your neighbors ever complained about the drone? Thanks
I know all the neighbors right around my house and they are fine. Generally, if I'm flying over houses further away, I go up to at least 200 feet and I don't hover over houses. But I am aware that I should be careful and considerate when flying in my neighborhood. Thanks for watching!
The video quality is much better without the protective plastic cover over the camera.
Totally agree! Thanks for watching!
The only problem is is that I think the blocks of vents from ventilating the Drone since there's a vent in back of it
getting a mavic probably this week. but i did some research and i dont think my phone is usb otg compat ... is there anyway around this or will it b a issue?? thx agian
I have just decided to buy this drone because of your video. Awsome job, and you are a good team with your son :) Thank you!
Awesome! It really is the best drone out there! I think you will really enjoy it.
how many satellite connection does it needs in order to fly safe. on phantom 2vision+ it was 6 satellites
This white ring around the motor and propeller.
I am not sure I could see them in your video.
Great Video... how does one use a mobile phone other than the expensive I-Phone ( Huawei)
Is it Android? If so, you should be able to download the DJI GO4 app for it.
Where bout's you at in Texas? I'm in Glen Rose. A little town about 25 miles west of Cleburne.
GREAT AND INFORMATIVE VIDEO! This helped me as a noob get mine off the ground. Thank you!
Glad to hear it!
I dragged this out.... ended up needing a mavic pro to do my next work... couldn't wait until the new ones release... thanks for the tips!
Great info, one small suggestion, have the person filming the closeups use a tripod it sure would help with the shaking and out of focus close ups.
Hey Captain Jack! I miss Kevin!!
@@SunriseWaterMedia He's doing well. He's been attending the TH-cam pros meetings and mention he hopes to get back to creating videos soon.
@@CaptainJack63 🤝 That's great to hear. Thank you, Captain.
one of the best review of the mavic I've seen..
Thanks. It was really just intended to be a set up video - full review is coming soon! Thanks for watching!
