Dr. Mahbubani is right. The world, especially the US, needs to understand that the Chinese only need business; their focus is on growth and prosperity, not hegemonic designs. The sooner the world realizes, the better they can deal with the pressing issues of our times, global warming, environment, political resolutions of long-standing issues, disease, trade routes and collective efforts to develop the technology of the 22nd century.

To be honest,I think they know it.But once china have more power than USA,The U.S. dollar hegemony will cease to exist, and the decline of the United States is a matter of time. The economic problems of the US itself are too serious, and the industry is hollowed out with high welfare. Once the hegemony of the US dollar is gone, the United States will also be gone.

@曹亚涛 I agree greed and short-term policies to keep profits up have caused problems in the US. Kay Street and Pennsylvanian Ave. in Washington DC and a few think tanks are instrumental in US decline rather than ruin. US Senate and Congress lack initiative and make decisions based on rationality; they authorize the bombing of countries, destroy economies, sanction people, and allocate funds to invent weapons rather than research to find a cure for diseases, the environment, and pressing issues of our times. American people are decent and kind-hearted; their decision-makers are self-centred and lack vision.

Democracy is Government for the people, doing what the majority want. Governments of Western democracies mostly have less than 50% approval, which means they are not working for the majority. In China, the CPC has over 90% approval, meaning that they must be doing a lot of good things for the people. This surely means China is more democratic.

What is "free market economy"? Is it the form of economic system currently practised in the US? And that any deviation from this system is thus a move away from free market economy? The problem is that the current "free market economy" of the US is not the same as what the US economy has always been historically, not even during the time of Ronald Reagan. Does that mean therefore that even historically, the US was never a "free market economy" until now?

China in its long history of 4000+ years have tried all kinds of political, administrative, governance system including capitalism and war lords. They have studied and modified the Singapore system. Unknown to many especially in the west, China has a very effective meritocratic administrative system from village, township, county, prefecture to province. Officials are evaluated and promoted at every level. They have long term strategic plans. That is why China is so successful. The likes of Biden, Trump, Johnson and Morrison will never ever get to govern China, in fact they are seem as goons all over Asia.

Yes. CCP is the vehicle for Mao to get power in China back in 1920s. Nowadays, Chinese CCP is more by name than anything else. The govt is run more like to old Chinese successful dynastirs like Han and Tang. It has A very strong central govt full for experienced bureaucrats who were chosen by merits. The govt is very functional, effective and very efficient. China does not have the voting system like the West, but the performance of all levels of govt is constantly being judged by the people on A daily basis, especially the central govt. Right now you can see that anyone in govt would be removed instantly if found not performing, to the satifaction of their senior level and the people. China💪💪💪

I don't think it's only communism in name. I think it's more a case of China having indigenised Marxism/communism to be more Chinese.
It's a similar process to what China did to the foreign religion of Buddhism thousands of years ago. That's why Chinese Buddhism and related versions in Vietnam, Korea and Japan are very different from Buddhism practiced in, say, the Himalayan areas or non-Vietnamese South East Asian Buddhism, whose communities did not have their Buddhist texts translated and interpreted through the indigenous Chinese Taoist lens.
Chinese communism has similarly undergone a heavy sinicization process to make it into a very different ideology from Soviet communism. Many of the ideas espoused in Marxism alread have Chinese counterparts found in Chinese culture. Belief in equality of people/anti-class differences, inclusive care, and concerns for lifting people out of poverty have already been philosophized about since Mozi founded the school of Mohism. It's not a very far step off to use those indigenous Chinese concepts to interpret Marxist texts and then come out at the other end (i.e. practical execution in everyday life) with a very different type of communism than can be found anywhere else on this planet.

All of them says that the free market policies are not forever, they are necessary for the early stage of building socialism. He hasn't read Deng Xiaoping enough as well, because you would know that Deng put in place the 4 cardinal principal before the opening up. The communist of china is clear in its goal. It's communism but first the have to reach high stage socialism which is what they are aiming for by the year 2050. There's a reason why the kept the name communist party of china after opening because that's the mission of the party

  • @jaychen512
    @jaychen512 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

There is some thing that Kishore didn't realize why some Westerners have a stubborn view about 'communist' China, so he tried to explain to them. Most western people who see CPP as Soviet Union style communists party are not really don't understand the name CPP doesn't reflect the reality. They just have some ideologies burried in their mind so they exploit the word 'communist' in CPP to enhance their delusions. Kishore's effort to explain to them doesn't work. They won't listen. They need a fantasy evil to hate which is a dark side of human due to evolution. That, the dark side of house man, is the root cause of many conflicts beyond the confrontation between US and China. But those ideologies/Pan-religion driven Westerners, especially journalists and politicians, behave rationally, so it's quite deceptional and created a wrong impression that they got their conclusion by reasoning. Kishore is one of people fooled by the deception that they are rational on this point. So he has been trying to convince those people with reasoning. It's not effective if not useless.

This Singaporean Professor that I once adored and respected, very unfortunately, doesn't recognize nor believe the repression of the Uygur Muslims and the atrocities, persecution and human rights violations being committed against the Uygurs by the Chinese government and communist party... this is simply a distortion of the truth and facts of what's happening on ground in China... hence, this is sadly misinformation by the Professor aimed at misleading us away from the truth.
And supposedly, the Professor will equally deny what's happening on ground in India by supporting the evil modi plus the BJP / RSS fanatics and fascists ideology that these groups perpetrate by continuing with their atrocities and persecution of the Muslim minority in India. Indeed this is very sad.
I challenge by urging the Professor to visit Western China and Hindu majority ruled states in India in order to see with his own eyes on what's actually happening on ground against the Muslim minority.
    Thank you.

This is old ouitdated discussion. Its got nothing to do with communism vs free market. Its about rules of conduct of govt, between countries, towards the individual and people. Do China and the world chose a liberal one or a hegemonic one? The US/West have been about liberal hegemony - China reject the liberal part but agree on hegemony - its own. That is going backward, not forward.

The world is watching and acting accordingly. The West hasn't been a shining beacon of liberal democracy/hegemony especially in the past decade. Self-interest wars in the middle-east, poor leadership, internal strife, the rise of Ultras, horrendous initial handling of the pandemic (which if the West handled well would have called other countries' mishandling a human rights crime), continued mistreatment of former colonies in Africa and for a portion of the Chinese diaspora - the bullying of an emerging power..
In the meantime, China continues to trade with the rest of the world and help build infrastructure in win-win deals. Yes, the Chinese win more, but you've then got to wonder how bad the Western/World Bank alternative is for countries to choose China.
Your media propaganda machinery and soft power is incredible when it comes to spinning the narrative. But If you continue down this path, the 12% in the West are only going to lose touch with more and more of the 88%.
