  • Singaporean diplomat Kishore Mahbubani believes that while the political freedoms in China haven't increased, the personal freedoms of the Chinese people have.

The majority of people in the US are very less knowledgable about other countries in general, not particularly about China. The schools, the TV, the entire system discusses very little of what happens in the world. And I think the US is in reality no longer a democracy.
The truth is they do not want to sell democracy over to other countries, but they want to sell their systems, their industries, their way of life. And that is a result of a self-centred, narrow-minded education, and certainly does not work. It did not even work in Europe. Which is why we are now foes, just as Mr. Trump said.

Kishore's understanding of Asia is second to none. What he says applies also applies to the Europeans who feel exactly like the Americans.

China has more than 5000 years of history. 2400 years ago it was the Warring States period. Qin Dynasty was from 221-207 BC whereby Qin Shihuang came into power as the first emperor of China. You can visit his terracotta army in Xian. BTW Confucius was born in BC 551. In other words, China definitely has much more than 2400 years of history.

Two famous Chinese historical figures - Sun Tzu (544-496 BC) (Art of War) & Confucius (551-479 BC) were both more than 2560 years' old, so how could the Chinese's history be only 2400 years' old when the Chinese have much older dynasties before them? But anyway, interesting view point from Mr Kishore Mahbubani about the Soviet Union. It is true that China today is very different from the 1990s when I first visited China in 1992.

Kishore's fundamental misunderstanding of China is assuming these superficial 'changes' imply that the CCP has changed a lot. All foreingers, especially the westerners' fundamental misunderstanding is that they all assume they could understand China by some simple logic.

It has a single political party. There is little voice to the people outside of the party. The goal is to maintain the regime and that includes at any cost. It's not gulags, but it isn't without harm to individuals who just speak out or dissent.
Combine this economic transformation with the technological advances and surveillance state and China has created a closed circuit country that is ripe for enforcing unity at the cost of individuals. The system can and will be abused ad infinitum for the sole purpose of maintaining the regime despite the lip service regarding change and progress.

The communist culture is fundamentally still intact. That’s most important.
Singapore today has become an outpost for Communist China. Talking about democracy, do you believe Singapore a true democracy? I would like you not to speak about the USA or China, but on Singapore’s practice on democracy. Do that please. I’m sure you wouldn’t right?

China's rapid military and economic growth is to coordinate with the forthcoming Christ.
The Lord God has chosen him among Chinese, a nation more in number than any people.
Before his appearance, the earth would have a tremendous catastrophe in order to first
remove those evil countries which oppose the growth of China so that China can
smoothly assist the saint in the conduct of the world salvation.
    From the Bible (KJV):
Deuteronomy 7:6 For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy
God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon
    the face of the earth.
Deuteronomy 7:7 The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye
were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people:
