From the start the question is being asked by someone who comes from a very different background and upbringing. The questioner speaks the truth. China is the world's worst pollutor when it comes to coal burning. Their pollution is causing climate change and freak weather. Many of the large cities are filled with smog from industrial pollution. In terms of human rights, China is still very repressive although it is not as bad as during the Cultural Revolution.

From the start the question is being asked by someone who comes from a very different background and upbringing. One needs to understand and live through a Chinese household upbringing to even understand the threshold of "reppression". To simply put it best Ray Dalio, American billionaire and founder of the largest hedge fund in the world - Bridgewater Associates who spent over 30 years doing business and studying China, has said "The CPC is behaving like a strict parent" and anyone person who grew up in a Chinese home will understand this.
