You're a great mechanical genius. I can attest to the ease in which you can pull that seat. I purchased a drivers seat platform similar to you I rebuilt it
But since the platform was new it didn't require welding. I'm only awaiting a source for seat foam. I found a cover but the replacement foam is impossible to find!!!! .what there is priced too high. Great video! I couldn't get the welds on the original seat to hold. Thus I shelled out for a cover and platform on which to build a new driver seat.

One more thing I love the way you are able to use power tools and or helpers like that fine little air nut driver, then we have to suffer through then end with the manual driver ala phillips!!! Great video by the way I forgot to add before!!

I've done stuff like this with wrenches and ratchets in the past, but IMHO air tools can make things a lot easier. I really like that little impacting air ratchet, I can get it in very tight locations. Thanks again! Chris

    Nice video and repair, thanks!
The only thing I would have done differently would be to weld in some reinforcement in the broken areas. A washer welded on the nut side of the bad hole would probably help a lot.
    Thanks again!

Shadowdog500 ....yes Chris it was very usefull, very clear. It took some time but at the end it came all together. ( after watching the vid several times). Im not a mechanic and this was the first job on my new 2000 grand cherokee so it gives me confidence to do more . So thanks again! Ps love that american jeep legend sign! Geo.

O chris i forgot to ask you....i want to fix another seat but do i need to take of the electric cable and motors before i well the metal part? Or is it ok to keep them on the frame.....thanks!

I really don't know if you can get away with leaving the electronics on the seat, but I was not willing to risk it. The seat frame was pretty easy to disassemble anyway. Mine had the seat position memory module on the front and I imagine that would be even more susceptible to a stray current than the motors or the wires. Chris

I am having the same issue in a 2001 Grand that I bought the bottom bracket kit to remove and replace. Yes they didn't do use any service by having crapping metal and welding, but then it gives us something to do and be proud of when we are finished, or maybe just drive it off a bridge and be done with it... ;)

I already had my new 2017 Grand Cherokee for a week or so when the seat broke. This became my beater Jeep as soon as the new one showed up. I wound up giving it to my nephew a few months later since I wasn't using it at all. No way I was paying for a new bracket for a beater Jeep, and the welds were a sturdy repair. Not sure if they sell lower seat frame but it is an easy repair and would be a good excuse to get a TIG welder. A cheap scratch start one would work since it is steel. Chris

Will a rockville rw10ca subwoofer fit between the seat and the seat frame? Is there any space left, or the motors take it all up? What do you guys think.

These seats are garbage, it will break again. I've gone through 3 now, it's just poor design and weak material.
