  • Repairing a Firebird seat bottom wire spring with dog fence wire! Save money and time and just DIY. Also includes the measurements for 70-81 Firebird/Camaro spring so you can make one from scratch or just so you know you are getting the lengths correct. This will work for many make and model cars that have a similar seat bottom spring made of wire.

    Great money saving tip. Most restorations are not concourse show cars where you need a date coded wire loom. Actually in the days when this stuff wasn't available aftermarket this is the sort of innovations people restoring cars came up with.

      Absolutely man! This thing has trans am, formula, and esprit model parts in it. Not to mention metal from a 68 c10 and a 91 chevy 1500. She's a mess but she's my baby. Just needs to look good and drive like a demon! LOL! 🤘

    Nice video with some great tips, but if you don't have left over material laying around. What do you do?
    You need to buy the materials.
    You can buy inexpensive heavy duty mirror or picture frame wire. What ever gauge you want. 100' of stainless braided is fifteen bucks. It comes with crimps. You may need to buy more crimps, but they are cheap. 30 bucks in it and looks good.
    Thanks for the video.

      Get ready for more street power look me up. I Port Pontiac Iron Cylinder heads and intakes. Mine flow more better than Kaufmann D-port and near Kaufmann Roundports CNC.
      Do different CFM Levels so near stock Driveability can be retained and maintain Decent MPG Cruising on 87-93 pump gas, important now again MPG. Gas 87 octane will be $5, then high as $10 possible.
      Its already $12 per gallon in parts of Europe.

    How has this held up? The old wire was metal, this new is copper. Copper doesn’t like to be bent a lot similar to metal but worse

      It has held up fine. Im 200+ pounds and sits in it regularly. Im sure the plastic coating helps a good bit.

    Did you have to replace the s shape springs that are under the other seats? I have a few that are a bit rusty and weak, and was hoping for some inspiration for those too? I guess any rod and a brake line bender might be the best approach but wondering what you came up with, if you had replace them before

    • @HeavyPedalGarage
      @HeavyPedalGarage  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I didn't have to replace them. Maybe the s hooks off of some rubber bungee cords would work, with some adjustments.
