The end of this episode becomes so much more heartbreaking when you realize Nick’s actor, Kit Connor, WAS outed. He was pressured out by members of the community who thought he was straight and said he couldn’t play an MLM character(which even if he was straight is fucking stupid). And you’ll notice throughout this season the show makes a point to tell Nick and us that coming out is HIS decision, no one else’s. And no one should feel pressured to come out.
It’s incredibly hard to hear that Kit Connor that was in a show of showing that you can come out in your own terms and showing really powerful messages. But Kit still gets forced out. That’s really heartbreaking and it hurts me so incredibly much. I hope Kit is okay. He should have come out when he wanted and how he wanted. That was just tragic and sad. I really love Kit and I hope he is doing okay. At such a young age, I hope your doing great man and can’t wait for season 3 kit!❤❤

Tara and Darcy are both lesbians. You can call them a lesbian couple. The show makes it a point to not shy away from that word because so many connect it to something dirty. The actors of it did an interview where they talk about how important they feel it is for their characters to say the word. There are so many wlw shows/movies that have lesbian characters in them yet never say the word and it often say gay or queer instead.
I was worried abt like, the fact that Darcy's actor isn't a girl. That's my problem. I mean I get like they're playing a girl character but I still feel bad in case it might upset them..

The show's fandom unfortunately really made asses of themselves by accusing Nick's actor of "queerbaiting" (which isn't even what that word means anyway) until he was forced to reveal he really is bi. This episode's ending feels like a very pointed reference to that.
Even if he wasn't queer, I personally think it takes a lot for someone to kiss someone they're not attracted to, even as actors. That includes straight couples in shows and movies too - hearing Emma Watson talk about having to kiss Daniel and Rupert in the finale of the Harry Potter movies and that it was awkward since they are all just good friends. Actors having to act out romance scenes, no matter queer or not, have my respect.
@@z2yn I definitely agree, but the fact that Kit said that he didn't want to talk about his private life and Alice Oseman, the author, said the cast was made-up of young, queer actors should have made people back off him. It didn't matter if he was queer or not anyway, but it was obvious that he was but didn't want his private life mixed with the show. People become wayyy too obsessed with the actors of shows like this.

I really appreciate Imogen's journey through both seasons now. I'm really glad we had a "clumsy ally" represented, because it lets people know that even if you say the wrong thing now and again, it really is the thought/spirit that counts. And of course, with that season finale tease, Imogen may graduate out of "ally" completely, which'll be fun to watch.

Heartstopper season 2 spoilers! I was ecstatic to see the aro ace representation towards the end of the season, it is SO RARELY shown in media. This is why I love Heartstopper. It shows the highs and lows of being queer, the struggles, dealing with queer-phobia, diversity, inclusion, and it represents people we don't see a lot in other shows or movies. Heartstopper is perfect in my eyes

I might have some of that wrong. Since Charlie (Year 10) is a year younger than Nick, Charlie isn't with Nick while they're studying for exams.

As a parent I wouldn't have wanted my teenage kids having sleepovers with their significant other. I allowed it when my son was 18 but not before. The bedroom door had to be open. It's not that Charlie is gay. It's just parents beeing concerned about teenage sex. They aren't even 17 yet. Charlie just turned 15. They were a bit knee-jerk but it's totally a legit parental rule. I think they were probably thinking of all the sleepovers they had prior to this information.

As a parent I wouldn't have wanted my teenage kids having sleepovers with their significant other. I allowed it when my son was 18 but not before. The bedroom door had to be open. It's not that Charlie is gay. It's just parents beeing concerned about teenage sex. They aren't even 17 yet. Charlie just turned 15. They were a bit knee-jerk but it's totally a legit parental rule. I think they were probably thinking of all the sleepovers they had prior to this information.
I am so happy for you that you have a girlfriend - everyone deserves their soulmate in this life. Enjoy every moment of it, treasure it ❤❤❤
