There She Is was one of my favourite little online series when I was younger, before I even questioned my own sexuality. Love who you love is just such a universal and powerful message, and the animation and music is just so good!
Seeing you two together has just made my year. You compliment each other so well in soooo many ways. Seeing you together reminds me of the bed scene in Arcane. This series holds a special place in my heart and my brain, and is a big part of why i was so open to learning about lgbt+ stuff in highschool, even though it wasn't the direct meaning of the story. Like you said, there are a lot of people that can relate to this in so many ways. And it helped teach little me to have an open mind, and what a blessing that was while figuring my own shit out lol

In the final step, its so nice to see all the animals and the cabbit gang and others help Nabi get to Doki before she leaves the airport. I cried tears of joy when I saw them hugging together!!! I'm so happy that they were able to stay together in the end!!! So sweet!!!!!!!

I remember these coming out one at a time on Newgrounds years ago, and the cliff hanger between Paradise and Imagine was psychological warfare lol. Every so often I go back and watch the series again and it still makes me cry all these years later. Love to see new people introduced!
I think my favorite detail is the Pro-interspecies group isnt really painted as the good guys, both sides of the fight cause problems because it *shouldnt* be a fight at all. the real heroes are just the couple trying to be happy, and the friends who accept them.

also the part at the final step where theres a random cat and bunny together with the heart if you look closely they are also on opposite factions so like one was from the ppl that were against it and ends up liking someone from the other group

Was great seeing first time reactions to this gem of a series. Letting you know there's now "There She Is!! Another Step" which finally got posted on TH-cam about a month ago which continues the story where things left off!
There She Is is so beautiful and painful. I watched it first like early 2010s i want to say, rediscovered it last year and just-- it doesn't matter how many times you watch it, Paradise is never not gonna emotionally destroy you.
Iirc, I remember learning that the ribbons on the tree scene in Step 5 is based on a Korean tradition. Basically, you tie a green ribbon or strip of cloth to a tree branch and make a wish. And as more strips are added, they gradually resemble tree leaves and it helps make all the wishes come true. So, instead of letting herself get stuck on the loss of death, Doki would try to associate it with a positive wish for the future every time she lost one of the animals she cared for.
Also, in that split-second scene with the two becoming a new couple, is was more than just a mere random pair. That was after the big clash between the Pureblood movement and the Pro-Relationship movement. The Purebloods were the ones wearing the headbands. So it was a Pureblood member who had gotten knocked down in the clash and was held up by a Relationship member so he wouldn't get trampled. *That* was the real power of that moment; that two people on _opposing sides_ of the sociocultural conflict had that spark of realization right there.
And if you haven't already, you two really should check out Part 6: The Next Step. It just dropped out of _nowhere_ a couple of months ago... and it absolutely knocks it out of the park.
In the episode "Doki & Nabi", its so cute that Doki jumped out of the box to surprise Nabi!! I loved it!!! But society still doesn't approve of them being together, and Nabi tries to convince Doki not to make their relationship public. I was laughing so hard when she brought out the handcuffs, chains, and rope!!!! That was so funny, even the Pokeball!!! LOL!!!!!
I love the detail of the rabbit guy clapping for them from his window because he supports them. (I'm pretty sure it's the same rabbit guy who shows up in every episode, but I'm not 100% sure)

I was into these when they came out out.. it was agony waiting for each episode. Someone reminded me of it recently and I fell in love again. The pain is worth it. It’s simply stunning story telling.
I can remember when these were flash animations on Newgrounds, and there was only "There She Is" and "Cake Dance". My friends and I would show them to everyone that hadn't already seen them. I didn't see the rest until years later, so for a long time I thought that this was just a pair of cute animations. But the rest of the videos make the whole story better and needed to be made.

I was so surprised when this popped up! I watched this series many years ago (not sure how close to when they came out), and I've never seen anyone react to them before. My favorite is the Cake Dance, too, by the way! Funniest moment (IMO) was the part where he stuck his hand out of the pile to catch the thing falling on the cake, and best visual (IMO) was the simple red ribbon against the black background at the end of the journey.

I remember the depth of this series not clicking for me back when they came out. I was just starting high school when the first one dropped, and at 14 you dont always pick up on stuff. Want until i was well into my 20's that i finally caught on, and now it's ugly crying every time i watch it.

24:45 - It's the Roko's Basilisk dilemma, kind of. Basically, the hate against others within the community from people inside the community often stems from the idea that the fight is impossible to win and as such the only way for self-preservation is to attack others in the community in the hopes that the people who do most of the attacking will spare you.
Of course it doesn't work, historically it's been proven wrong plenty of times, most notably WW2, there were small groups of Jewish people who supported Hitler hoping to be spared from what was to come. They weren't.
In "Doki & Nabi", I still love the Cabbit gang and how Doki tried to make things better and become friends with them. She is so sweet. Also, Nabi feels bad for how things went with his first date with Doki, so he tries to make it up with a second date, and she accepts!!! I started getting frustrated when the rock was thrown into the window at the end.
Aw, I've had this series stuck in my head for over a decade, it's great seeing you guys enjoy it! ^_^

I haven't seen this series in YEARS holy moly!!! I don't even think the last I saw of this was the original (I think it was a MLP version where it was Time Turner/Dr. Whooves and Derpy).
I love how to train your dragon it’s sad but good also there is a series of how to train you dragon on Netflix it’s after the first movie so the order is the first move,the series, second movie, last movie x

It's been SO LONG since I thought about the There She Is series. I loved them so much back then, there's so much nostalgia watching someone react to them here. I'll also never get over how Step 6 was never made, but oh well, lol
In the final step, I cried so much when Nabi and Doki wrapped so many green ribbons around the tree. That's the same ribbon that the hedgehog wore.

Everytime i see this, when they show the ties in the tree, i took it as a count of how many cat-rabbit relations there are. I think it's more accurate than a count of dead pets (seeing it from the main message for the shorts)

Just wanted to drop an interpretation of a scene that I haven't seen anyone mention recently. Hopefully one that lifts your spirits a little.
In Final Step, the tree with all of the scarves on it isn't meant to represent a Whole Bunch of dead animals. Instead, it represents Doki kind of, putting her own leaves on the tree. It makes a lot more sense with the text, "I thought that if the world wouldn't change that we would never reach happiness... But she..."
It's not that a bunch of animals died for her, but the tree wasn't growing leaves, so she did what she could to change that. Nabi didn't think they could change the world, but she kept trying. And that's what inspired him to keep fighting.
In the episode "Cake Dance", when Nabi is bringing a birthday cake for Doki, its so funny to see him running from the animals while holding the cake!!! Also, I feel so bad that he was getting beat up all the time in this episode. He tried to make sure that the cake didn't get damaged, until the end.
I watched these videos a lot when they first came out and consider them a lovely part of my childhood. Step 5 is definitely my favorite!
