Hi there, Liron here.
Today I'd like to share with you 3 tips that will immediately improve the sense of light & shadow in your paintings.
Here they are:
1 - Leaving the paper white (widest value range possible)
2 - Using vibrant colors in the first wash
3 - Gentle color variation in shadows.
Bonus tip A - Go as dark as necessary
Bonus tip B - Look at the overall composition (big shapes)
I hope this is helpful, thank you for watching 🙏

An awning. I think that's the word you were looking for. An awning over the balcony. BTW this video nails some very important points that no other artist mentions.
Thank you! 🙏😊
I always use awning in the context of stores - but it makes sense here as well (:
Your bonus tip is utilizing the windmill technique. Beautiful piece ❤
Awesome wasn't familiar with that term (:
Nice suggestion ..make first wash vibrant!
Excellent narrative on colour grays
A true master of his craft. Thank you for so generously sharing.
Hi, Liron! Thanks for the video, your work is invaluable. How are you holding up? I hope you are safe.
Thank you so much 🙏♥
Very challenging times, I won't lie.
Seems like every day there's something new to worry about.
But we'll get through it.
Love your tips, Liron. Just waiting to see where you’re going to put that red. Your paintings are beautiful!
A very open, honest, comprehensive study!

Hi Liron😊,great tips and explanations. Thankyou so much, sending best wishes.
Love your visual pictures - the gray circle and pushing the gray towards yellow, red, blue, or purple. Makes so much sense.
Thank you 🙏
Very happy that visualization works for you.
That's how I see it in my mind's eye
Nice job!
Please stay safe.
Thank you, the painting looks great.
Seeing you paint is so helpful. Every video I am amazed at how the image reveals itself over time with each layer and glaze. Continuing to pray for your safety.
Thank you ❤️🙏🏼

Thank you so much 🙏
I can't be kept away from making visual art for too long.
It really is my default state of mind
Amazing how you are still focused during these times...this shows your real passion for art..this must be zone of peace too .
Thank you once again my friend ❤️❤️
Yes, I don’t need to try hard to concentrate. The painting itself brings me a bit of peace
Beautiful!
Hey friend ! I’ve been wanting to reach out but I was taking a YT break - hoping you’re safe and your family is safe and well ✌🏽💙
Thank you ❤️🙏🏼
Please stay safe my brother I love you. I was wondering why that building inspired you.
Thank you Patrick!
I often get inspired by the interesting shapes light & shadow cast on different architecture elements such as here (:
Liron! You are explaining such important points im unable to concentrate on painting plus your tips..i dont know the solution..maybe you could pause video? Example..tou were explaining that circle with centre gray ..
I want to try a different narration format, where I watch the video with you, talk, pause and rewind as I do that (instead of just letting it run).
I think it will be better for videos with many ideas outside just the explanation of the process.
Will give it a try and hopefully it will help 🙏🏼🙏🏼

Did I miss it, or did you say the colors you used for your darkest dark? 🤔
I might have not mentioned it, sorry!
I mostly achieved the darks by using the same mixes (same blues yellows and reds) - but using more of them, less water, and also a little Neutral Tint
@@LironYan actually makes perfect sense, especially with those colors. Nice!
Hello! Could you tell me what series that Lebenzon brush is that you used on the first wash?
Hi! It was the large goat hair (:
Is there live on Thursday?
No livestreams as of this moment unfortunately.
Hoping I'd be able to in the upcoming 2-3 weeks 🙏
Would it be easier to use flat brush for this painting?
Perhaps, but I find them more useful for more large scale cityscapes.
These windows and square shapes are large enough to be considered a shape in its own right (so I wouldn't necessarily "delegate" it to a specific brush shape).
With larger scale cityscapes, I find a lot of the PATTERNS have sharp corners, and for that - a flat brush can be more useful.
With that being said - this is very personal. For someone else a flat brush will be absolutely key for getting the right angles in the windows / shadows etc... And that's perfectly fine (:
Watercolor company nd water color sheet please
Mostly Daniel Smith & M. Graham (:
Very basic colors:
French Ultramarine, Phthalo Blue, Cobalt Blue
Winsor Red, Pyrrol Scarlet
Lemon Yellow, New Gamboge
Paper is Saunders Waterford, Cold Press, 300 gsm
Liron, do you elevate your paper?
Thank you so much! 🙏
If you refer to the angle, it's at a very gentle 10 degrees perhaps.
But I sometimes hold the paper in hand to angle it in specific directions
