Old School Records is hands down my favorite record store that I have found. Super reasonable prices and you can tell that the owner hand picks the records. Speaking of the owner... WOW! Talk about a character and a wealth of knowledge. Somebody told me that he was Frank Zappa's guitar tech for a couple of years.

That is very interesting about Mike. I was very happy I stopped there, super friendly place, would have loved to have spent more time there but family wanted to keep moving, they don’t enjoy records lol

That Johnny Cash lunch pail has to be new. Back in the day no kid would be caught dead with that.

Yes, I was eyeing that Leaves album but I think it was kind of battered so I moved on. Johnny Cash in the 60s was big but not for kids. I didn’t much care for him, it wasn’t until the 80s that I began to enjoy his music.

Hey Steve. Another great record store video. Prices seemed pretty good over all. I have that Monks "Bad Habits" album he had on the wall. I have those Baker Gurvitz Army albums you flipped by, they're killer! Love that Manfred Mann & Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66. Nice snag on the clean copy of Edie Brickell. Cheers

That was a fun looking shop! There’s a small one in Estes park last I knew. I’m seeing the elevation numbers instead of population like other states have. One of my favorite bumper stickers out there was in Alma it read “never trust anyone below 10,000 feet” 😂

Never trust anyone below 10,000 feet, that is hilarious. I have been to the Estes Park store, not very good and quite expensive for some beat up product. In CO it’s all about elevation!

Thanks for showing the reggae section though there wasn't too much. Funny to see the Shuffle Demons in there at 6:23, they were out of Toronto and had a novelty song called Spadina Bus that got played on MuchMusic in the 80's. A lot of Canadian stuff in that shop actually, Doug & the Slugs in the same bin too, I used to have that album back then, one of my few original records that went missing somehow. Cheers Steve

Hey Steve. I love Frisco, it’s a lovely place to stop and stroll around on the way to Leadville. I’ll have to check out Old School on the way through next year. I heard there’s major road work going on I-70 around Idaho Springs, smoothing out some sharp curves in that spot. Have a great weekend!

Cute little store, some great titles that I could have used, some prices were great and others seemed a little steep, but I have a feeling things would even out if you were picking up several. But it also seemed that he priced according to the condition of the record which is great. I love that Edie Brickell record, I need a new one.

Hello Steve; The store had a lot of GiT In It! Hope the T-shirt was comped for the free advertisement. The store can be rated based on whether the prices were decently fair. No second mortgage needed to purchase. Looks like you enjoyed yourself, which is what counts! Take care, Tina & Pat!~

I will turn this record into something that only I will love. Also I can't stop playing the new MARILYN MANSON record when I am making my Mexican Dinner. WOW ! Is that record great. 40 rpms.

I lived in Summit County for a couple of years in the mid 1990s. The only record store I remember was one in Silverthorne that I think doesn't exist anymore. I was pretty broke then but I think a few of my CDs were bought there. You can tell it's Colorado and not Kentucky because the reggae section has rekkids by people not named Marley.

How about that stock music at the beginning? Yeah, those guys never heard of “Let It Be.” Some very nice records there. I could use a couple of those Strawbs titles. But the prices, while not completely insane, are still too high. That Flash album right at the beginning that they had two copies of, both priced in the 20s? I bought a VG+ copy of that a few months ago for three bucks. You were tempted by that Grace Jones, weren’t you? I woulda been, too. I think you’re paying for the scenery. That really is gorgeous. I think I’d pay just to look at those mountains.

    • @stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147

In Colorado I am always paying for the scenery Michael, great point. Yes, the 12” Grace Jones definitely had me interested, I love her music though most are her interpretations of other peoples music she just puts up cool vibe on the songs. I definitely have seen a lot higher prices, that album I bought was fairly priced I thought but it’s sure not Michigan!

This was an interesting store. I saw a bunch of buck albums selling for 10-15 dollars or more. 17 bucks for a Herb Alpert record (have you ever seen a Herb Alpert record sell for more than a buck)? 25 bucks for Kenny Rogers Greatest Hits (I almost fainted)?? And yet, some of the costlier albums were priced about right. Very confusing.
