    I primed my concrete floor first with a good quality primer, then used a light gray concrete floor paint. 2 coats and it hasn’t chipped yet in 4 years

    I live in Florida. Do I need a concrete sealant (that gets down into the concrete) to avoid moisture issues? Or should I use a brush-on primer/sealer such as those made by Killz?

    So if the plastic does show some moisture does that mean you shouldn't paint? Or could you bring in a dehumidifier

    When you scrub the area with water and a broom and you can't rise it with a hose, how do you get the acid wash/degreaser off?

      @DEtchells 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t know about the degreaser, but the concrete itself neutralizes the acid. Concrete is very alkaline, which is why the acid attacks it. In the process of doing so, the acid is neutralized.

      @@kymberlydawn1445I'd recommend a dehumidifier sized for the cubic ft. of your basement. As the air dries the moisture in the floor will migrate into the air and eventually you will have a floor ready to paint. Good luck.

    I am running a commercial dehumidifier in my 1700sq ft basement. In order to do the moisture test, how long should I keep the dehumidifier off, or should I keep it on and put the moisture test at the other end of the basement?

    • @ninemilliondollars
      @ninemilliondollars 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Buy or rent a dehumidifier large enough to dry a basement of your size.Should be ratings on the dehumidifier for that. As you do this the floor moisture will migrate into the dry air and eventually be dry enough to paint. Then use a sealer-type paint that prevents moisture/radon from entering the basement. Have fun!

      Try using a handful of 3 ton floor jacks and place them under the parts of the house which are sagging. One by one, slowly start to raise the floor jack in order to bring that section of the house to your desired level. I'd recommend using at least a 4 foot level to make sure it is actually level.

    How about a primer?

  • @fabiolus2007
    @fabiolus2007 10 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    why bother? the best is a solid clear my friends. Painting wont remove humidity on the floor, humidity raises up from the ground this is because your French drain around the house might be damaged with time or if you have a dehumidifier then this helps lots as basements are prone to humidity but is controllable. Now painting the cement would cause this humidity to be trapped in the ciment, I can guarantee you that you will be pissed when you start seeing cracks in your cement also the paint will start bubbling etc..
    Your best shot is the dehumidifier I got mine 5 yrs ago and it still runs great, clean the screen every month or so and I have the drain going directly in my sumpump hole
