Looking great mate....I'm a bit sad that you didn't mention checking for hedgehogs before you started strimming under the hedge. This is prime baby hedgehog season and there could easily have been adults and hoglets in that hedge bottom. Just need to get the message out to as many gardeners as possible please.

We used to take in orphaned hedgehogs. I quite liked them

What setting do you use on the drop spreader when you overseed?
I renovated my front lawn recently and never used any sort of top dressing. Its coming in full and lush. All i did was mow short and scarify, then lay down seed and water 4x a day. The secret is working the seed into the soil and watering, which should be common sense, but i see people not doing that.
Lot of factors go into it. Compost feeds the soil, as it does in flower beds, which is always beneficial on the type of space I’m working with with the type of soil I’ve got.
Lots of different approaches can be used 👍🏻
I did mine yesterday. Two passes of the scarifier and a couple of mows. Now I've got two swimming pools over the areas that are really bare cos it's gonna rain tonight. Want that seed to plant where I planted it

Great vid and well timed. I completely renovated my lawn this weekend too after many hours of watching your videos. I removed all the existing grass and laid a new lawn with seed. It was all well and good until the heavens opened earlier today and now I'm a bit worried about my seed being washed away. I should've checked the weather before! 😂

Hopefully not all the seed has washed away! It’s usually ok if it’s only a one off, it’s worse if it’s persistent for a few days! 😅
And Fred’s busy trying to dig in the back garden and being chased away by me! 🤣
@@NoviceGardener We're expecting a month's worth of rain tomorrow where we are according to the MET office weather report I watched earlier. I put a fleece over it this morning, so hoping it won't be too bad. I might go out and re-seed on Wed or Thur when the weather is better 🤞
Which compost are you using? I have just done 2 small back lawns with 2 different brands with a spreader and both had loads of rubbish in them. I would love to try Fields No 4 but way too expensive for small quantities.
It’s Clover compost. I’m the same with the one you mentioned, quite pricey!
Good stuff but I wouldn't be doing anything to council land, you never know what nonsense they might come up with to fine you.
Not council land, funnily enough this strip belongs to us. It’s quite a random addition to the property 😅
What are the performances of that Einhell verticutter? I am planning to buy one but i am a bit sceptical about running it on batteries.
It’s a decent bit of kit. I thought it wouldn’t have enough power, but it’s great 👍🏻

Seems like a decent mix. Will be interesting to see how it thickens up. I’ve got enough to use again in spring too
