- CANDY PSA: Kinkajous get the nickname “honey bears” because of their sweet tooth. They eat honey and nectar in the wild so sugar is a part of their natural diet. Some processed sugar in moderation is OK for a treat as long as they have plenty of space and a proper diet. 🍒🍇🍎🍑🍍🍌🥑

Sorry to say that's just anthropomorphizing. Projecting your interpretation and attributing meaning to misread signals. Because it would be very nice, very cute, and humanize them to make them feel subconsciously even more adorable. They may very well be happy, and they may very well be intelligent, but smiling out of happiness is what we humans do; not kinkajous.

This is not their entire daily diet, only a treat. This a Sanctuary for Kinkajous who were abandoned, rescued and turned over by humans who never should have had them as pets.

I appreciate you are giving them a safe and loving home but I worry about their teeth and all the artificial food and processed sugars you feed them which isn't part of their natural diet.
