The concept seems intuitive and powerful. We just need more examples of how it can be implemented successfully and efficiently with setups of hundreds of notes (of primarily knowledge-based, academic information, not just basic “journaling” or “ideas”). Thanks!
Using it for a week and loving it. I agree the journal part is the most powerful. I use it as my daily board for meeting notes, work to do’s and learning notes.
Been using it for about 2 weeks now and loving it. The concept is something I’ve tried on my own for a long time now and always failed to figure out a way to make it work but this system makes it so clear to create a “master” note and use it daily
What I would really love is for someone to work on a process within the Apple ecosystem that incorporates Reminders, Freeform, Shortcuts as well as this upgraded form of Apple Notes in conjunction with email and calendar to really organize their online life.
The Journal in this framework is intended to be a Forever Journal, inspired by Patrick from the New Perspectives channel www.youtube.com/@Patrick-NP Each Journal note, from Yearly notes to Daily notes, is meant to be reused each year. You're simply supposed to add a new Heading in the note for each year. Otherwise thanks for another interesting video!
The beauty of Apple Notes is that it is simple. If people wanted to complicate it with all this nonsense they could simply pick another app. As another commenter already noted, this 'system' is for people who don't have anything else to do.
I can see why you would think that way. The set up is the complicated part. It’s a system that makes sense when you are practicing it. For me it felt like picking a lock… the set up is hard, but once you drop all the pins, you unlock something and the door opens. I use it every day. Hubs are especially awesome for me, I love logging my ideas and thoughts in and having them accessible this way. One thing I notice about it, it’s not for lazy thinkers. It’s like not wanting to shop for less at IKEA because you don’t want to build the product yourself, even though you know that the product is practical and will help you be organized.
I promise you it’s not. It only looks that way. Forever Notes is not like buying cake at the store, this is baking. Some people want to bake, others want to spend money on a cake that’s already made.
This is a simple concept they I feel gets overly complicated by people. Theres a Home note. It links to other notes (Hubs) that cover broad subjects and they link back to the Home note. Hubs connect other notes as needed. You can also use smart folders to collect tagged notes into collections. Then there’s a daily journal. Each day has the year (2024, 2025, etc) as Headings. You list what happen that day. I dunno. It’s pretty straight forward.
Forever Notes is not that complicated. It’s just links and backlinking and using tags to organize smart folders. It’s just an outline of _how_ to do that. He didn’t get the journal; the idea is that you use add the year in each day. So today has 2024 and in one year it’ll have 2025. The years are headings so you can collapse them as needed. I would suggesting going to the Forever Notes channel rather than a secondary aourse
Finding it is half the fun. Spending valuable time you'll never get back d*cking around with links, tags and shortcuts instead of being productive is the other half.
Love this but the instructions jump around and aren’t easy to follow - and I do this kind of stuff for a living. Really appreciate putting this together. Background music didn’t bother me at all 😉
To me, the most compelling thing about this system is the concept of setting up a Home page (as well as the heavy asterisk for search navigation) with links to key notes / folders. If you just combine those principles with smart folders, then the concept makes a bit more sense as an easy-to-setup system to manage & access notes. I should note that the Home concept could simplified even further by using a Shortcuts selection menu, or having the individual "hubs" as Shortcut actions in a folder on your home screen (it does seem a bit superfluous to always have to access a note in order to access another note. You could just create Shortcut links to each of the section notes), but this way does seem to make sense if you have a lot of categories....
@@p6till8sI asked this a few weeks ago and it’s not possible at this moment, maybe Apple may introduce this at some point. I’m still trying to figure this out.
@@fanovaohsmuts No, he should just not include music if the idea is that he wants people to listen to what he is saying. When you're on the phone to someone, do you have a little speaker next to you, piping in background tunes for maximum enjoyment? Or, not really because you want the other person to listen to what you're saying?
Or just lower the volume so it is less intrusive- thanks for the review. I wish AN had reminders like EN and hand written annotions on the note (like GoodNotes) e.g text, images not a separate section to add arrows, highlights or circle a block
You have edited the video, didn't you? When you recognized the bad autofocus you could have re-shot those scenes. Would take an additional 30 minutes of work, but the video here lasts forever. It's a pity since the content itself is good, but it's not fun to watch.
Let’s cut creators some slack, not everyone is a professional videographer and editor. This is challenging to do. The info is there and it’s valuable. There is always room for growth.
That’s not fair. The music isn’t bad. If you knew how challenging it is to make these videos you’d be a bit nicer. I came here for the value this info offers. I ignore the rest. I hate when people slurp their coffees, but who am I to tell another person not to slurp simply because I don’t like it?

the crappy thing is that you have to pay for icloud storage

Good run through, thanks for making this. Appreciate you always being quick to react to these things when they come out.
How do you make a big asterisk?
Yes please can’t find it either
Use this Unicode character ✱

FYI with IOS18 you can do all of that directly inside Apple Notes, ie: hashtags, linking notes, subcategories, etc...
Right out the gate- I can't find the shortcut for Home page. Can you lead me ?
What is the point of the asterisk text replacement?
You use that asterisk for notes you want to stand out when you’re looking through your list.
I could not find your homepage shortcut in the description, did you remove it?
How did u set it up? Its not in the description below
And where is the link to the shortcut mentioned in the video?
I can’t find it either
Anything like this for Google Keep.?
Busy work for people who aren't busy doing work.
Precisely!

This can be applied elsewhere as well.
On a train, in a dentist's waiting room. Possibilities are endless. Wherever you want to be doing busy work instead of work, you can do this there.
