Next time I go back to Germany Im bringing the girl I met there in 1973. She was born there but lives in North Carolina now. We met again 4 years ago and Ive been back and forth many times visiting her.

Oh I remember those long flights. I use to work for a bank in Hamburg and would fly back and forth to California and there.
I haven't flown back from SFO to London in 5 years. This just reminded me of how long the flight is!

Uber is really getting a way with murder... taxi drivers always had to get a permit and many states a special license... and in some cities (big ones) further license or permits to reduce the number of taxi cabs clogging roads. In addition to reducing number of taxis clogging roads (not really a factor in smaller cities and towns), the permit thing was to ensure taxes were paid (no free loading on income while everyone else has to pay taxes), fares were not gouging the public, and safety considerations (vehicle and driver were safe for paying customers).
Some cities still prohibit the use of Uber or have restrictions (driver's must hold a commercial license and taxi permit or sales tax business permits etc. etc.).
